I've got bufexplorer installed and hitting \be pulls it up. In vimrc I have map <Leader>\ <Leader>be, but `\` does not cause bufexplorer to come up. Any ideas?

@DanielSank Just to doublecheck cause of markdown being weird, but do you mean <backslash><backslash>?
What is mapleader set to?
@DJMcMayhem Ah dangit. Let me retype:
`\\` does not bring up bufexplorer.
There we go.
hahahaha
Oh ffs.
You get the point.
@DJMcMayhem Nothing explicitly.
<backslash><backslash>, correct?
21:44
I think I know why
::listens::
the original mapping was probably a nnoremap mapping, so if you map something to the map itself, it doesn't go recursively. Does that make sense?
Nope :-P
There is not explicit mapping vimrc.
Just a sec, let me come up with a good example
Where else could there be a mapping?
@DJMcMayhem Well wait a sec... you may be overestimating my vim-fu.
I have no idea what I'm doing.
21:46
Oh wait, I think I'm wrong too
nmap g iG<esc>
nmap G g
nmap f iF<esc>
nnoremap F f
In this case, typing G will insert a G, but typing F will not insert an F.
But that doesn't quite apply here since you're just using a map, not a nnoremap
Hang on. I don't know what nmap and nnoremap mean.
I thought it was about the original mapping, not the second one
Searching...
@DanielSank nmap just means that you want the mapping to only apply to normal mode.
21:49
but nnoremap means, don't remap several layers deep, so it will map F to f, not iF<esc>
I see. Ok.
nnoremap = normal mode map without remapping
Exactly
But I don't actually know why your mapping isn't working. Maybe worth a main question?
Perhaps. I will try a few things first.
I'm still learning how vim works.

It's a fun (and long) journey :)
I imagine it is. I started using it because of hand pain. The mouse is dead. Long live Vim!

I am a happier typer these days.
Nice. I started using it because I watched a friend of mine editing text ridiculously fast (and in the terminal too!) and it kinda blew my mind. He was kind of my Linux Mentor

And now I've been using it almost daily for... idk like 2-3 years now?
