As long as we're making progress, they probably won't close us. Just may take a very long time to get out of beta.

They were chosen back when Area 51 was starting without any experience to see whether these statistics would be relevant. Despite experience showing that they are in fact poor indicators, their description hasn't been updated.

And even according to the original plan, that statement says that the site needs work. The site isn't even two months old, so it isn't surprising that it needs work. Even the optimistic original plans called for graduation after 3 months, and most sites turned out to need a lot more, often several years.
