@Novice No, that's not what I said.

(2) Post a completely new question on the main site with your attempt in the question itself, and tag as .
Unless you believe you have expertise in the topic, you should put your solution attempt in the question itself. Your attempt should not be posted as an answer.

@user21820 Whether to put my answer in the question itself or as its own answer would depend on how confident I am that I have the right answer. Also, I think that "expertise" is too high a bar.

@user21820 why is this user's profile offensive?

3:36 PM
@Novice Well, there have been numerous people who are confident they know the answer but post totally bogus 'answers' (that all the experts agree are fundamentally conceptually flawed). The very fact that you say "I want to try to answer this question in order to learn" indicates that you should put your attempt in the question, because that is precisely what the tag is for.
So "expertise in the topic" is not too high a bar, and there is no compelling reason to use the 'answer' box unless you have expertise in the topic. This doesn't mean that students cannot post answers, because it is on a topic-by-topic basis. A good high-school student is likely to "have expertise" in elementary-school mathematics. A good undergraduate student is likely to "have expertise" in certain high-school mathematics topics.

@cineel I can't take your question as sincere. User suspended for a year. It is what it is, and your question is now off topic.

@cineel: In case you missed it, the profile originally was worse and said "Only morons blame Vladimir Putin." as I mentioned in my first comment on it. After it was wiped and the user was suspended for 1 week, the user reinstated the contents. It was wiped again and the suspension was extended to 1 year. The user still put some parts back, such as a screenshot of the original profile page with the old username.
Current world affairs strongly imply that it would be very unwise to consider "In V#$%^#$% P#$%^ We Trust" to be not offensive in light of its similar structure to "In God We Trust", and that's on top of the behaviour of repeatedly putting back parts of the original worse profile contents (which seems to be like testing the limits).
I just noticed that the profile has once again been wiped, so thanks to whoever helped!
