@rolfl what is "the ObjectStore"?
will you use your own authentication system, so that users will have to register on your site?
Object store is similar to a CDN, and is a common infrastructure on cloud deployments, for example: openstack.org/software/openstack-storage
That uses swift.
Swift? As in the programming language? o_O
For bluemix it is essentially an unlimited resource, and will allow us to store the content. OpenStack has Swift, which is also used by SoftLayer, and is documented here: wiki.openstack.org/wiki/Swift
I have been reading up on user authentication/sessions/etc.
it's more complicated than I thought.
It also ties in to session (which are not complicated).
@rolfl yeah, I am trying to setup some authentication system on @Duga, to make it possible to manage the bot in a different way. Spring MVC + Spring Security = complicated.
There's a lot to work on when it comes to authentication, database, hashing, signup, protecting from bots...
It's not necessarily difficult, but it's... a lot of different things that needs to work together.

@SimonAndréForsberg Bluemix has an authentication and user-management system available, just plug it in.
I am not sure I want to do that though.
it also has cloudant available for storage, which is an enterprise and cloud-scale version of couchdb (couchdb under the covers), which means I can develop locally, and deploy up there.
The free tier for the cloudant is 500,000 queries per month.
That should be enough.
@rolfl I am not using Bluemix though, unfortunately.
I am not sure which one would be better, objectstore, or couchdb for the storage component.

^^^ I was not suggesting you use it for duga
I was suggesting It may be an option fro stackmonkey
I thought "just plug it in" was directed to Duga.
@rolfl why not use it? is it because you want to learn better how to do it yourself?
Not sure why I chose to respond to the message I did with that comment.

In part it's because all the tutorials out there are for 'passport' in node.js, and it may be simpler.
simpler to do a 'prototype' build.
can change later?
Also it allows me to develop locally.
it's code, it can always be changed later.
