The question isn't suitable for SO. Try softwareengineering.stackexchange.com . But it's unclear what answer you expect. You described how it should work. So write it. The only tip that comes to mind is that a date lib like Moment is necessary from the start, doing time calculations with native Date is painful. Most of the work is supposed to be done on back end, React just displays data that is provided to it. — Estus Flask 39 secs ago

Please read this open letter to students with homework problems. In short, we are not here to help you cheat on your work. It is assigned to you because it will help you develop skills that you need to succeed in your program of study. Frankly, it's insulting and disheartening to instructors and TAs like myself that put in hours of work during a global pandemic disrupting everything and requiring remote learning and other measures to see students like you just blatantly cheat. — nanofarad 56 secs ago

This looks like it might be a class assignment. You might want to read this. It's also worth reading this Meta for some hints as to what we expect from you if you want to edit this to make it answerable — Machavity ♦ 57 secs ago

You might be able to ask on Software Recommendations — it seems to me it is more closely aligned with that site. Please check the rules of engagement over there before posting a variation of this question on it, though. — Jonathan Leffler just now

a server runs in the background ... once launched you can send it messages using your myprog dothisnow where myprog is a shell script who lives in a dir which is in your $PATH which forumuates the URL to talk to your server ... its not necessary whoever I strongly suggest you get yourself a junk laptop which works yet has nothing of value on its harddrive and reformat it to install Ubuntu linux ... as an aspiring software engineer you will discover sooner or later that things are just easier when using a linux laptop instead of Windows ... although above server tip is possible on Windows — Scott Stensland 46 secs ago

By "from scratch", I imagine you don't want to use any third party library. Playing uncompressed audio like WAV files is relatively easy, but requires platform specific code and requires real-time processing. Decoding MP3 or other highly compressed (and complex) audio formats in real-time is a challenge for even experienced C++ programmers, definitely not for beginners. — prapin 12 secs ago

Thanks @Pesse, I appreciate hearing your point of view, and I'll consider it. "Humiliating other people" is certainly a harsh way for my post to land, and not the spirit i intend. OTOH your suggested rewording fails to convey any of my shock and disappointment that this community of ostensibly competent programmers has offered and unanimously recommended (for 7 years) only O(n^2) algorithms for a really basic O(n) task; that dismay is an essential part of what I would like to express. — Don Hatch 40 secs ago

@samuelbrody1249: The C standard is quite readable by moderately experienced software engineers. Students already somewhat proficient with C may find it a bit difficult to understand at first but should be able to benefit from it significantly right away and can grow into it over time. — Eric Postpischil 55 secs ago
