Once had a test where the last question had me working right up to the last minute on an insanely hard problem. With the exception of another few classmates who I later found were the better programmers in the program, the rest of the class had handed in their test papers and left close to an hour earlier. I figured they'd all given up on the problem and left. The professor later apologized because he'd screwed up the question and those of us who spent hours working on it caught an unintended subtlety that made the problem much harder than intended. Professors screw up sometimes. — user4581301 23 secs ago

Is determining a number from the input an option? I.e. first do the comparing with ifs, determine the number of a possibility and then go on with a swicth on that number. If that is not an option then many programmers will be convinced that what you are trying is impossible and ask you to clarify why you are convinced that what you are trying is possible. If a teacher is involved please quote the whole assigment, maybe you have misunderstood something. — Yunnosch 57 secs ago

Please read this open letter to students with homework problems. In short, we are not here to help you cheat on your work. It is assigned to you because it will help you develop skills that you need to succeed in your program of study. Frankly, it's insulting to instructors and TAs like myself that put in hours of work during a global pandemic disrupting everything and requiring remote learning and other measures to see students like you just blatantly cheat. — nanofarad 37 secs ago

By the way, I don't understand why do some people downvote a legit question like this. I understand some programmers might not like the question but then they do not have to answer it. I think we should respect each other and try to help each other out here if we can. This is why I want to thank you all for the answers they are much appreciated. — AD Progress 9 secs ago

This is one huge reason why these "competition websites" are almost worthless in creating actual programmers that can handle real-world situations. You have the code, you have the test cases that cause the problem, but why is it an issue to debug your code? I wish there were "competitive debugging" sites to go along with these "competitive programming" sites. — PaulMcKenzie 48 secs ago

@PaulMcKenzie Yeah I've heard programmers said about that. I'm a student so I don't know much, I was just trying to find something that could help me improve. — user9989615 14 secs ago

Welcome to Stack Overflow. SO is a question and answer page for professional and enthusiast programmers. Please add your own code to your question. You are expected to show at least the amount of research you have put into solving this question yourself. Please take a look at How do I ask a good question?. — Cyrus 1 min ago
