if someone finds me a certificate/award/etc form, i will fill it out and sign it, i can't find a existing one.
got a question
jrg
jrg
@Seth ask away
22:00
hehe
If I +1 a post, say this one, it doesn't appear in my +1s on my profile
Google says this:
> Your +1's appear here. +1 the things around the web you like, agree with, or want to recommend to others.
does that not include posts by others?
Privacy settings?
hey guys gotta go, girlfriend taking me to dinner (First time EVER).
@jrg thanks buddy
@FEichinger - Am wathing you, you mean big bug!
22:04
@FEichinger I don't remember turning anything on or off
jrg
jrg
@Seth uh, i don't know.
@LuisAlvarado that certification is canonical-run
Can't find any levers to flip.
jrg
jrg
i'm more like "community established member to another established community member"
@Seth Well, I have no idea, I don't really use G+ all that much ...
jrg
jrg
i'll just code one in like, html or something
22:05
yeah no biggy, that also works
jrg
jrg
that will be my night project
something to show for in my country since well
@FEichinger OK
they trust more a paper than a person
jrg
jrg
right, you've explained that.
the same could be said here, but i compensate by being cheap.

22:10
Paper tells no lies.
or does it?
jrg
jrg
oh man, how badly i want to prove you wrong...
Well, paper itself doesn't lie, but people can make paper lie.
jrg
jrg
paper can't tell the truth either
paper simply is
sigh
This is getting scary, every other notification I'm getting is from MSO O_O
jrg
jrg
if you want to get philosophical, i will let you have it.
22:14
shrug
@Seth let me know when you need me to back you :)
if you want to be real, I'll let you have it. The real world is sometimes too serious.
jrg
jrg
oh, i'm burning over here.
you wound me sir.
@gertvdijk Okay I will :) That goes both ways though ;)
@jrg sorry :(
jrg
jrg
@Seth i'm messing with you.
there are very few times in here that i am dead serious
and even then, i'm deadpanning a lot.
22:17
I'll try to remember that :P
jrg
jrg
someone give me a blog post topic they'd like to see, please.
Oli
Oli
@jrg AU-related, Ubuntu-related, tech related or anything else?
jrg
jrg
@Oli uh, tech related - and community/society is fair game too.
i'm out of ideas for blog posts, but i'd like to start writing more often.
Oli
Oli
I have the opposite problem - I keep starting blog posts, starting with a really good inflammatory hook, working through the post until it's ~2000 words and then arguing so well against myself I either don't care or completely reverse my own stance and lose the momentum.
jrg
jrg
oh man.
that's rough.
22:26
@jrg write a blog post about not being allowed to dupe questions to an unanswered master. That would be interesting :P
jrg
jrg
@Seth dude, that's been written many, many times on MSO.
i'd be repeating everything.
and i'd sound like i'm whining. which i always do, but anywho.
lol
Oli
Oli
@jrg I don't mind too much, I claim I blog because I like writing and while I do like the Adsense payments, I do genuinely enjoy the writing. Even if I don't get to publish a post, I've still had a fun time punishing the keyboard (and the thesaurus) for a few hours.
jrg
jrg
@Oli yeah, that paper thesaurus is a good friend of mine.
Funny, I hate writing, but I wouldn't mind writing a blog.
something to do with what I'm writing about I guess.

funnest comment ever:

Oh man. How did we just go from 26 to 36 close votes?
@Seth did we?
@gertvdijk Well, on my end.
@Seth I didn't get 10 more if that's what you mean on the number of votes.
oh, oops. Wasn't paying enough attention. I meant from 26 to 36 questions in the queue.
22:47
@Seth ah okay.

23:27
I know you know you English but, boy, have I learned a lot using askubuntu
i learn englizh pritti uell
LOL
@LuisAlvarado that's not english.
@LuisAlvarado --^
that's what I feel like when people write in text talk.
@Seth nice one hehe
;)
To tell you the truth I had to learn english in the street when I was living in the US
Same thing here for spanish
Never did actually learn all the adjective, nouns, verbs and the likes
Yeah, English is so different in depending on where you are.
23:33
Had to learn that by self study
When I type, normally I go with whatever sounds better when spoken. If I "feel" something is odd, then I immediately check for errors. Don't know how to explain that but many times I know when something is wrong or right.
Instead of the correct way of actually knowing when it is right or wrong by rules of grammar and such
Same here, I make all sorts of mistakes because I go by how I think it should be heard or how I hear it.
Yes, we do a lot hehe
but hey, is better to get it wrong a lot and learn, than to think is right and not fix it
I agree.
I learn a lot more getting it wrong the first time than by getting it right.
