Finally got the cover-art business styled into a page design, the side-hub area which will eventually be tied into a template for some brand-name CMS thats undecided as for now. Trying to get some xdebug loving working in gvim (i forgot the keyboard commands...)
Using apt-get upgrade -y is a WRONG way of doing this because it will suppose you say YES to any question!
unattended-upgrades is the best practice of having automatic updates!
You can set up unattended-upgrades pretty easily by typing this in a terminal:
sudo apt-get install unattended-upgrad...
oops. apt-get upgrade -y is wrong. oops. That's how I do everything. :l
The thought of going back to rolling your own solution with the mess of ghost-script instructables out there makes me cringe. Thank the compilers that we came up with something better and user friendly to boot.
i imagine it would eventually get in the way, but its worth a shot
and not to be a know-it-all but did you grab the latest xorg updates? i updated lastnight and thus far knocks on wood haven't had much of an issue. its reduced the crash rate about 80%
but anyhow, i have to get ready for school. I'll catch ya @JamesGifford
From 11.04 onwards when you boot the livecd and start installing it will give a option for upgrading it will automatically detect installed apps and installs the updated version of your apps also.

ive been using apple since I was 14. it was my first comp. Linux has come a long way actually. when I was 14 mac was it. linux has done a lot of catching up. Since I stopped using most of my commercial software and moved onto open software the need for my mac has also kind of dwindeled
@Takkat it is exactly that it is history that is why linux is great for it
ppc has totally been dropped by apple
which has left people like me in the dust
no support for ppc anymore even though more than have their user base still uses them
@Takkat i actually see what you mean takkat and you are right that support for hardware is about equal right about now (im speaking from complete ignorance) but this wasnt always the case
im a simple user mac guy and have always heard of linux but would have never taken it seriously if it hadnt reached the height that it has today. I feel really safe about it actually.
a lot of people have really worked hard and made linux a great thing i think. and that community support is really kind of what makes me feel like I can trust it.
@JoshuaRobison yea the big difference was that OS X and Windows had big companies behind them with lots of money to push them, Ubuntu has too and apparently that is the key
The following options are the ones am asking for a more friendly user experience for new users:

like every year my wife makes new years cards and she has to use this special software that comes in her favorite magazine.... and its windows software
not to mention that when you surf the net you see links to download software right but never any links to download and install linux software (almost never)
I do like the way that have installs set up lately though with gui interfaces to search kind of like an app store kind of idea
@JorgeCastro I think we need a banner or something that reminds people those kinds of questions are inappropriate for the site (and points them nicely toward the right direction)
the things that's cool about the intel macs right now is that you can run windows mac and linux on them which means you dont have to worry about not being able to support something
Is "Ubuntu Tweak" considered to be a safe program for us on my 10.10 OS. Also I was concerned whether or not it was safe to delete all the programs that show up in the "Package Cleanup" option?
If you are hurrying to reply, System → Administration → StartUp Disk Creator -- no, that's not what I'm talking about.
I want to try Ubuntu 11.04's Unity without touching my existing Ubuntu install.
To do this, I need to install the nVidia drivers first (sigh).
To do this, I need changes t...

Yeah, I realized that me edits didn't go through untilz it waz AFTER the 2 minute "deleteingz" time was up. And I waz too lazy to flagz it for the modz. :p
makes me proud to be one. I think I can thank Ubuntu for helping out with that. I got hooked on tweaking my system, and that kept me off the streets/out of trouble. (seriously)
(and reminds me of my days at our local college just last year launches into a rant about what my friend from Africa and I used to discuss about how poorly developed the minds of our local youth are, and how they need to think and act more maturely)
