@JourneymanGeekOnStrike :). My own system has 2 big SSD drives, I think when I built it nvme had a few issues with Slackware / kernel. Now completely sorted out I believe

@andrew.46-OnStrike 2 1g drives but my media is on a separate external HDD

@JourneymanGeekOnStrike I have no experience with nvme then, but I used to wonder about cooling?
@andrew.46-OnStrike the PCIe 5.0s need to
My 3.0 units have heatsinks but its optional really
@JourneymanGeekOnStrike Mind you I agonised over my 2 SSD drives which have little bays behind the motherboard, but no issues. I wondered about @Videonauth's drives which don't have flow through air as such
Oh
Spinning rust should be mostly fine
@JourneymanGeekOnStrike I suspect so; when I built with mechanical drives they were in a cage arrangement with front fans blowing through
Looking at the image now and I can see that it is a small case, so no room for a cage
And I cannot see a power supply...
Oh wait, the case has an extension :) Dual chamber...

@andrew.46-OnStrike its all about having positive pressure inside the case and yes its dual chamber, overall i sport two 6 tb hdds, 2 1 TB nvmes and 2 SATA ssds
abd the two drives on the bottom have actual holders there and air holes below them so positive pressure gives them enough air
the second compartment is almost as big as the one where the mainboard resides

hello all, Im trying to do a thing, and Im prolly going about it in a dumb way.
I have a synth program, called helm. it takes keyboard key presses, and generates beeps and boops whatever. so then I wrote a program to send key strokes to /dev/input/by-path/platform-i8042-serio-0-event-kbd
which is the actual keyboard for my laptop.
this works, I can make the sounds I want. but its sub ideal, and could open up all sorts of other issues I wish to avoid, if I knew how.

in my code:
int fd = open("/dev/input/by-path/platform-i8042-serio-0-event-kbd", O_WRONLY | O_NONBLOCK);
what device would I give as a file descriptor?
