Will there be any problems or bugs if i install ubuntu on windows with the windows installer. If i install will i get the exact same ubuntu or will there be any thing missing.
Will i get the exact power and performance of ubuntu?
I chose to do the Wubi install because it was short, simple, and easy to reverse (no messing with partitions required). To be honest, I can handle the lack of a hibernate function.
I haven't really heard many other benefits of installing on a separate partition than hibernation and negligibly fa...
@jokerdino, right. still cant get the attached keyboard to work.. and have no clue about compiling kernels for arm and flashing them to system drives or whatnot
i barely got this running as it is
it works great aside from the attached keyboard not working
there are some nice features of ubuntu/unity that are lacking in xubuntu though
for example wth ubuntu/unity I can scroll in nautilus with my finder doing flick scroll... like on a tablet interface
but in xubuntu thunar... i can't do that... i have to use the scroll bar and find it with my finger... kind of a pain
also "onboard" works a lot better in ubuntu/unity
when I click inside of a text box area, onboard will automagically pop up for me... but in xfce I have to actually open onboard every time I want to type by finding it in the applications
@jokerdino, what doesn't annoy xfce users. I'm only using this cause gnome-shell wont work on nvidia-tegra gpu's yet and jeff from bodhi linux moved over to armhf and i would be stuck with vanilla e17
@JoshuaRobison Heh, no. See this answer for general instructions (ignore the Compiz parts, of course). If the shortcut you use is already "grabbed" by the system or by the running application, then it won't work....
For the reasons detailed in my comment, I believe this should be flagged as "not an answer" (I cannot do this myself as I am out of moderator attention flags, for the day):
@EliahKagan I was referring to the Intel HD question. As for that NAA, it's sitting at 2 delete votes and just needs one more 20k+ user to get rid of it forever.
OH man....why my mom says "we have to go *** house now" when I am here?...I need to(have to) go now...commands from Head Quarters...better obey...bye...c ya...
I've an Asus U31SD Notebook with an i5-2430M CPU. The Asus site says that the maximum RAM is 8 GB, but Intel's says my CPU supports 16 GB. What is the maximum RAM I can use on this system under Ubuntu?
This Raja character has a real identity crisis. After imwrng and GrSr (and god knows how many other nicks), he has taken to calling himself August (presumable after user January)
@izx Well, I'm not most ladies, lol. Although my two other sisters maintain their long hair. I don't know how it happened but this became my routine when I started working.
@msPeachy Yes, I've done that a few times with minor edits, usually for networking issues. In the interests of decreasing clutter though, you shouldn't do it if the question itself is a duplicate (and dupe-close instead).
@aking1012 Heh, showboaters are worse than the Bobs ;) Any career updates in the last week or so?
I was having similar problems, not being able to execute shell scripts stored on NTFS, even with sudo, even after editing fstab as described above.
It turns out I had never made the mount point directory. I unmounted the partition, made the mount point directory for the Windoze7 partition:
