OK, here's my cloak
ubuntu/member/jokerdino is now your hidden host (set by services.)
nice
How hard is it to get a ubuntu cloak?
not that hard. just have to become a member
explain
Is there a guide?
Would 6months of AskUbuntu be enough?
I guess it should be.
I started contributing by the start of October and became a member in mid-March.
cool
I wanna be a MOTU!
MWAHAHAHAA
Good luck with that.
ha :P
What do you have to do anyway?
Basically make an epic app?
that won't really count, i am afraid
See some of the major things I was doing when I applied - wiki.ubuntu.com/jokerdino
Question, is it important to do a clean reboot with Ubuntu every once in a while like Windows, or is it ok to always hibernate unless if a reboot is necessary for updates?
If you have enough ram, rebooting is better than hibernating.
14:10
My laptop only has 2GB haha.
> Ubuntu Member Flair on Reddit, read this for details.
LOL
@Alec I guess that might be sufficient.
Hibernating is not buggy free.
@jokerdino Alright, I'll give it a shot. Thank you.
Good luck.
@jokerdino That chart doesn't make too much sense to me.
@njallam Well, it is just different channels for obtaining membership. And it is very much outdated.
14:13
@jokerdino ah.
So do you think 6 months of AU rep, a (hopefully) epic app and quite a few LaunchPad bug reports will be enough?
Did you see my wiki page? :)
I had 4600 rep when I applied.
I is jelly
+ translations + community blogging + devel release support + bug reporting and triaging + bunch of minor things.
14:15
So I've got a way to go then.
not to show off but if you want to get the membership before 6 months, you got to do a huge load.
All I have are some mediocre AskUbuntu answers.
or you can just stick to askubuntu and grind some rep for two years and apply.
I'll just take it casually
I don't exactly like the idea of grinding rep.
Reminds me of when I used to play MMOs.
You can't exactly grind rep on AU. It was just my way of saying get some good answers under your belt.
14:18
I try and answer as best as I can, when I can.
That is much appreciated. :)
Just to be clear, I was crazy back then.
So, I wouldn't expect most of the users to do what I was doing
404.. switched username
^ It's coming up 404 for me
OH!
Perhaps update this then:
Not really worth it.
14:20
Well it was enough to confuse me
I'll update it when i reapply.
What's your new LP?
Search launchpad jokerdino on Google.
OK
You're a project!?
got it!
@njallam Remove link please?
14:24
Do you not like your LP link public then?
I hate spam bots.
hi all...
I suppose it does have a plaintext email on it
@Prasad \o
@njallam plz don't blame for this. but can u tell me is it safe to use this kernel from here....launchpad.net/~ubuntu-security/+archive/ppa/+build/2005970 it's for ubuntu 10.10 (for one of my friend who has a slow computer)
14:27
@Prasad Wait, why would I blame you for this?
@njallam because if it is not supported
Why do people persist on using 10.10?
@Prasad Oh yes. I just noticed.
<Supressing Blame>
@jokerdino no no it's not for me..i am a 12.04 user now..it is for a friend who got an old one
And now the other part of my question.
Why ask me?
14:29
@Prasad Then ask him to upgrade?
@njallam Greatest answer...if I ask it from jokerdino or amithkk...they will surely blame
:-)
@jokerdino he says the kernel isn't downloading from the server and I checked it . it's true.. it's no longer there
Well I'm confused already, so don't ask me.
If you are on 10.10, they would have moved the repo to some other place.
I always use latest stable build.
Nightly releases are in VMs
Old releases (Except last LTS) BURN WITH FIRE!
@jokerdino but how can i find it...
@njallam i think i know it
14:32
i really am not interested in helping in 10.10.. but last try.
:-)

SalahuddinI installed Windows 7, which ate Ubuntu's boot file. When starting up the computer, it now goes straight to Windows, without giving me the option of booting Ubuntu. How can I get Ubuntu back?

@RolandTaylor I'm okay. Just catching up on the review. How about you?
@msPeachy a bit frazzled but alive lol
@RolandTaylor why? it's quite early for you to be frazzled...:)
If my laptop barely has any graphics processing power(Radeon x1200, integrated, extremely old laptop) is it better to use Ubuntu 2D?

A: Flag as duplicate option on Area51

Anna LearYou can still flag it as a duplicate - just type in a message in that textbox. :) We aren't making any serious code changes to Area 51 at this point as we work on our next generation proposal system.

Is Libre Writer 100% compatible both ways with Microsoft Word files?
@Alec nope
Or does it mess up formatting & stuff some times?
@jokerdino f, 29, right next to you
it messes formatting
@Alec newer versions are very close in compatibility, but it's not 100%
14:59
@RolandTaylor oh you live in anonymous proxy too?
@Alec: quite often messes things up
If you use anything pre 3.6 the formatting of tables will be off
@jokerdino ya
@EliahKagan Thanks, for the suggestion also
