Even if they lose $$, it's not an unreasonable battle from the purely capitalistic viewpoint (putting asides issue of morality/being good corporate citizens/etc)
If they could stop Samsung from making rectangular phones (yea I know it's a bit more complicated than that, but let's be brief and funny :-)), it'd be huge
they're using higher res screens earlier than anyone else on standard models (which is nice). With the ipod, they cornered the market on the drives they used so they got a head start
well, I'm thinking more along the lines of, original stuff comes from (to be somewhat loosely interpreted) a few places like reddit, 4chan, etc., and then there's another layer with slashdot, boingboing, etc., that spreads it further and possibly expanding on it

I am not able to start my Linux. Recently I tried to upgrade it from 11.10 to 12.04. Due to some errors it was partially upgraded. But later on I am not able to start linux. It is showing an error "GLIB-6" is missing.. any help...

@jokerdino As with 99% of your internet problems, we can chalk this down to the firewall not allowing the XMLHTTPConnect required by the AJAX updates...
@izx I think it's a real question, but I'm on the fence about whether or not it should be closed as too localized. I'm leaning away from doing so though, at least for the time being. I've attempted to answer it. The OP says the 100 GB of disk usage is from making copies of "system files."
That seems unlikely, but if this user's Ubuntu system's system files have actually grown to 50 GB (or even 25 GB, and s/he accidentally copied them three times...), that's probably some bug, and it shouldn't be closed without telling him/her about that. (I've included that info in my answer.)
@EliahKagan As long as the user continues to reply and ask for help I am ok with that post and the answer, if there are any issues with accidental closes let me know so we re-open it. If the user just quits for a few weeks and stops requesting help just re-flag it and we can close that later.
@BrunoPereira: can you re-open this question please? As the answer and comments explain, the problem isn't MergeLists, but that the OP had a proxy which was blocking apt-get requests by returning 200 OK with junk HTML.

@jokerdino It's a dupe. The answers cover it, it's by the same person, there is no rep loss, it only stops redirects to the master dupe. I don't see a problem. :/
The only reason that answer has screenshots of *gedit*(!) is tongue-in-cheek - because Mahesh originally said something like "Screenshots MUST be given to be considered for an upvote" or some such :)
@jrg: Should this be reopened to add an answer -- it also has a dupe directed to it. It's about the Super+W bug which only shows windows from one workspace.. The official milestone was recently moved to 12.04.2, BUT a PPA is available from a compiz-core dev that fixes the issue...
