@terdon C.S.Cameron told me I need to stop commenting on 14.04 being off topic and that 16.04 will not be off topic in April of this year. He gave me this link wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases and told me both 14.04 and 16.04 are supported for many more years. This goes against everything I had been told please clarify. BTW this is not the first time this guy has told me to stop commenting on things.

Thomas is our resident expert on this. He's a mod here and is also an Ubuntu member, so he can be considered an authority.

I don't know enough about the details and the difference between end of life vs end of support to have a strong opinion, so I'll go with: "Has @ThomasWard posted an EOL notice about this release on meta? If yes, it is off topic and if not, it isn't".

This CS guy seems to have been watching me like a hawk and takes any chance he has to tell me to go away lol

I have stopped voting and using flags what so ever and have been limiting my comments and not offering any help so do not know what else can do to stay out of trouble.

I thouhgt it was ok to remind people 16.04 is getting old.

depending on how Canonical defines the terms "end of standard support" and "EOL" and "ESM" per the inquiry up at Canonical now via the ubuntu community council, that will likely drive the policy decision, regardless of CS Cameron's statements

now. if anyone disagrees with that statement: i invite them to voice their opinions on the meta thread HERE - CSCameron has 'self-accepted' their answer which means squat in the overall thing

but your opinions are valid and need to be heard

so share your opinions there. either as an answer, on my answer, on his, etc. - opinions matter.

I can't think of any other site that could have something similar though. AU is very closely linked to Ubuntu and Canonical so the rules about EOL feel like they'd be better hashed out here.

that doesn't mean that we dictate the policies for i.e. U&L which is one of the closest sites

Ask Ubuntu is unique compared to other sites

we're closely linked to Ubuntu and Canonical, almost as a niche site

in terms of things being migrated to us the only stuff I see comes from U&L primarily

that problem is a perpetual and "always has existed" problem.

because CS Cameron is complaining about voters, etc. on answers in his thread being "the reviewers who blindly vote on moderator posts as plus" I've made to actual 'ballot' boxes.
