all the component packages are. afaik there's just no pseudo-package that pulls it all in. if you DID make a pseudo-package that pulled it all in, then you would want not to configure it so you don't blow out existing complex configurations. it's my opinion this is exactly what charms are trying to solve

well the usb serial adapter was not recognizing. so I plugged directly into the COM port.

@GeorgeEdison The basic ones do, but any real functionality is limited because the API is still a bit limited and less than mature

as long as what you're using doesn't rely on gobject stuff from 2.x you're safe-ish

@rlemon: I think you can do that from the system-settings-whatever-it-is GUI.

Under something like "users and permissions".

(It's been so long since I've had to do that.)

@GeorgeEdison something i'm working on uses cairo from gtk2 until they ... make available the functionality from the original cairo library in gi.repository and/or fix the module import redirections so pylint/code-completion works again
