Q: ordered list format feature request -- subtopic numbering

raveryIntroduction: While writing a response to a question, I came to a situation where making a sublist improved readability of the post. This works: topic subtopic subsubtopic subtopic topic Although the indentation helps, this could present some confusion between topic and subtopic. Thi...

Guillaume BruletI have an ubuntu 14.04 server, the server will be in a parking to manage it with a software. @DavidFoerster Hi David :) nice to see you :) Good afternoon :) How are you doing ? How is the weather in Berlin today ?
@Videonauth Good afternoon to you too :)
:) thank you to you too
@Videonauth Thank you :) Still snowy there in NRW ?
@cl-netbox Dark and grey, some snow left. Yesterday was nice though. How are things?
no most if it is gone sadly
@DavidFoerster Same here in the south ... dark, gray and very windy ... things are okay - today I got kernel 4.14 after upgrading my system. :)
15:08
@cl-netbox dark and grey in saxony as well…
@dessert Are you living in the area of Dresden or in the area of Leipzig ?
@cl-netbox One wouldn't think that, but Saxony isn't just Dresden and Leipzig (and Chemnitz btw), I live exactly in the middle of those three. :)
@dessert of course it isn't just those two, but they are the most famous ones. :) When I lived in Berlin, I was quite often in your area ... :)
@cl-netbox Well you were nearly right, I lived in Dresden until 2016 when I bought a three-sided half-timber farm and moved here.
@dessert What do you mean "three-sided"? Is the property shaped triangular?
15:22
@dessert wow ... cool ... sound like you're living in a kind of castle. :)
@DavidFoerster No, three sides have (or have, only two are left) buildings, it's a rectangle
@cl-netbox No, it's more like a formerly rich farmer's house – not everybody likes wood and clay as much as I do. ^^
Great. My comment reached the star wall but was deleted.
@DavidFoerster which comment ?
@DavidFoerster Well yes. It wasn't very constructive. Please don't leave comments like that.
15:25
Hi terdon ! :)
@terdon Hi! I understand as much. I just feels odd that the starred link is now dead.
@DavidFoerster Yeah. And don't get me wrong, your comment describes the situation perfectly. It's just a bit more honest than helpful :)
@DavidFoerster Aren't you able to see deleted content once you have like 1 million rep points?
@dessert Not comments.
15:27
@dessert Well, I don't have that much. I'm not sure anybody does.
@dessert The user with the most reputation on AU is Oli with ~200k: askubuntu.com/users?tab=Reputation&filter=all

@Videonauth The profile picture is gold.
@terdon Then how do we know what happens when anybody breaks the million? ;D
@DavidFoerster yep :)
@Videonauth Considering that he earns 150–200 rep/day, it shouldn't take him much more than 6–7 weeks.
15:38
@DavidFoerster true that
@dessert We have something to look forward to!
@NathanOsman so inner classes in Java can actually act as a sort of obfuscation. If you decompile to Smali, there are no inner classes, and everything is in separate files. Makes it really annoying.
16:14
@DavidFoerster You commented and voted on the question, do you mind adding an answer on the meta question as well? meta.askubuntu.com/q/17515/507051
@dessert I actually prefer muru's stance and voted for it.
@DavidFoerster OK, thank you!
Yeah, same here. It would have been better to just add your (very good) answer to the original post, I think.
Also, changing the "canonical" will be a real pain. That would mean we'd have to go and manually reopen all of the questions closed as dupes of that one, only to close them again as dupes of the new one.
I realize that, sorry for keeping you guys busy with that – I'm a newbie after all…
@dessert No need to apologize for trying to help!
The rules of SE are, uhm, let's say not always obvious :)

@ByteCommander Ugh, I hate when mostly static, stateless web sites require cookies. And with the new add-on framework of Firefox there's no simple way to change per-site cookie settings.
I like the Lisp edition.^^
@DavidFoerster welcome to the new firefox, we know taking away all usful api calls sucks but we dont care, live with it :P
My Python codes looks like that too on occasion.
$ apt-mark showhold
firefox
firefox-locale-de
firefox-locale-en
xul-ext-ubufox
:P
@Videonauth What's really weird is, that there is an easily accessible UI to change per-site cookie settings in the site preference (when one clicks on the site icon before the URL in the address bar), but only for sites that are already on the exception list. Why not enable it for all sites?
16:45
Don't ask me, i had a reason to stick to 56 for now :) the 57 might be faster and more performant but its less useful to me if i cant use about 1/2 of my add ons anymore
Luckily there was no crucial add-on that broke for me without a replacement. It even made me migrate from Adblock Plus & NoScript to uBlock, which is much better in most aspects incl. UI and performance imho.
The only thing I still miss is a way to disable Ctrl+Q or at least have a confirmation dialogue.
@DavidFoerster uMatrix
@ByteCommander I thought about it but it seems a bit overkill for what I intend to do.
/shrug
I got used to it now that NoScript became horrible
It's actually quite nice after you got the grip on it
@ByteCommander yep tested noscript in a vm and it is nohwere as good as before

I like the new hair cut that I gave myself. :-) It always takes a few weeks each time until my hair settles into a lasting shaping under its new lowered weight. Now that time has passed and it looks better than right after the cut – as usual.
Now I need to decide if I want to re-dye my hair or leave the grey strands.
pro: looks better, contra: few people are tall enough to see my hairline from an angle that makes the grey apparent and most of those are male and thus outside of my dating target group.^^
not (yet) contra: I look still youthful enough overall to not appeal to women who are into older men.
17:37
@DavidFoerster I'm having occasional issues with uMatrix, mostly because some google search references get to a site that umatrix blocks completely.

@NathanOsman I'm sorry I didn't answer before, saw your message but I didn't manage to get back to you those last couple of days. I took a look at DigitalOcean and Scaleway prices. The former seems more expensive than the alternatives I've here, because the dollar quotation is a little high lately in my country ($10 seems to be the lowest they got). Scaleway on the other hand seems to have a very good cost, maybe better than the options I had researched here.

Ever heard of chocolate with chili?
mhmm it is actually quite tasty
@Videonauth I tried and didn't like it, but I dislike hot food in general…
i just tried it first time
well it is not too hot but has an interesting note
@Videonauth I tried it. It's a curious taste and I don't dislike it. I just like other bitter chocolate flavours better.
yes me too as i diabetic :), it has quite a high carbs footprint
19:39
i normaly only buy chocolate with a very very high cocoa percentage since its the other parts which make chocolate actually bad for diabetics
