Never used whirlpool. If it's anything like AES as far as modes go CBC is kind of the standard

Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at. I'm not against it, I just don't see a need for it. I frequently tell people that do offshoot distros that they should just make proper packages and have a repo instead.

But, on the other hand, I am passionate about Ubuntu. If someone asks what I have done to Ubuntu, I can show them that I have done so and so. If they ask what do I get from contributing, I can show the goodies of membership...
