@Seth the tories got the most seats, but not a majority. If you don't have a majority, you can't get your policies through even with a three-line-whip or whatever, so you can't form a government. The tories formed a coalition with the conservative DUP party of Northern Ireland
Still, kinda strikes me that while my country incarcerates and deports refugees and exits from the EU just to keep immigrants out, it's a bit rich for me to expect any country to give me shelter
