20:00
so...
Okay, another Chrome user has confirmed the issue.
So it's not just me.
user19161
Then what do you like @thex?
@htorque it is due out tomorrow according to rumor...
@JasperLoy not much.
user19161
@TheX I thought you like me. :-)
@JasperLoy don't give me a reason not to like we :-D
20:00
@TheX yeah, officially tomorrow; i'm looking for unofficially :P
@htorque I haven't seen even a rumor of it being leaked...
@htorque I am sure google can help you maybe?
duckduckgo, you mean? :P
jrg
jrg
duckduckgo!!!
user19161
I tried using duckduckgo, it does not give good search results.
jrg
jrg
!bing is my friend. :P
20:02
@htorque okay whatever your preferred search engine is...
it's funny... i have an android phone but use duckduckgo on my computers - as if google doesn't already know everything about be.
user19161
Google is still the best search engine, followed by Yahoo!
kills @jrg
jrg
jrg
@GeorgeEdison 17.0.963.56 (Developer Build 121963 Linux) Ubuntu 12.04
(chromium)
@JasperLoy NO YAHOO NO.
YAHOOOOOOOO!!!
I have the same version of Chrome, except Windows.
@jrg is Cleveland still a mad house?
20:03
Hmm... weird.
user19161
Actually I like Debian but it has one big problem. It uses Iceweasel instead of Firefox and one must use backports to get more recent versions.
jrg
jrg
@TheX cleveland always is a madhouse.
It just crashed again after opening the About dialog.
That's all I did - and it totally froze.
@GeorgeEdison have you tried uninstalling it?
or maybe it is a bad extension?
user19161
I wonder how well the HUD will work with Unity.
jrg
jrg
20:04
The HUD works nicely.
user19161
Will HUD be implemented for GNOME shell too?
@jrg is it worth downloading and installing? and removing?
jrg
jrg
@JasperLoy will it? If someone does it yes. there are no plans for it right now.
@TheX what, 12.04? Meh.
only if you're not afraid of breaking things
yeah 12.04
@TheX Yeah - good point. I did install two new extensions yesterday. But then why is another user without those extensions experiencing it?
jrg
jrg
20:06
oh crap, 705MB left on my system... :\
@GeorgeEdison I don't know...
user19161
But in any case I will give 12.04 a try. It will determine if I stick with Ubuntu or not. :-)
maybe your downloaded extension got currpoted?
odd little white dot...
anyone else have a white dot?
@TheX White dot... where?
user19161
Also Unity shell does not work too well with TeXworks. Those who use it will know what I mean.
20:08
user19161
@TheX There was also a white dot in the ELU room yesterday.
jrg
jrg
@TheX not here.
that is strange...
user19161
But not everyone saw the dot.
Looks like a window manager issue.
user19161
20:09
Maybe someone is infecting SE?
Aliens??
I'm not seeing that.
user19161
@TheX Possible, the aliens might invade Earth through that dot.
maybe...
i need to get it off my screen!
OMG
user19161
It's like The Ring. The ghost comes out from the TV.
20:10
it is replicating!
WHERE ALL GOING TO DIE!
user19161
@jrg I see you are a mod now. Congrats! I voted for you.

keep the aliens away!
user19161
@TheX Calm down, it's just a dot.
20:14
I can't!
I keep killing it but it keeps coming back!
user19161
@TheX Go have some tea then.
I prefer water at this stage in my life...
GO AWAY DOT!
I DON'T WANT YOU!
20:34
@DoR Did you get that test email?
DoR
DoR
@MarcoCeppi No.
Not even in your spam?
DoR
DoR
@MarcoCeppi Duh, yeah it's there.
So it went to spam? :\
DoR
DoR
yes
20:40
That might just be because of my email address. Let me try another test
20:50
@TheX what browser?
@TheX does anything show up if you right click -> inspect element (Chrome)
@DoR Well it says it cleared the server, but I didn't receive a copy of ityet.
How does Ubuntu know what file type a file without extension is http://askubuntu.com/questions/108600/how-does-ubuntu-know-what-file-type-a-file-without-extension-is #files
21:09
@TheX tried that. FInds problems and fixes them, then restarts to the same problem.
21:59
How do I migrate my autoreview comments from my old Firefox profile?
jrg
jrg
22:47
made the mistake of giving my sister root access to her laptop. :\
23:03
why oh why?
jrg
jrg
she wanted to install some packages - battle for wesnoth, tuxpaint and a bunch of other similar things
ssh in, install, exit
NO ROOT FOR SISTERS!
jrg
jrg
Never again.
user19161
@jrg But what happened?
user19161
What is so bad?
jrg
jrg
23:16
seemed to think she could do a ATI driver update by herself.
man
look at the front page
and look at the number of "1" users
we're growing baby!
user19161
Those who use Chrome here, I know there is an extension on Windows to click and clear history, but on Linux?
user19161
@JorgeCastro Let's hope that translates to growth in use of Ubuntu and not Ask Ubuntu. :-)
I kind of want both. :)
jrg
jrg
23:34
I don't look at the front page anymore, its too depressing with all the 1 or 0 vote questions. :P
is it me
or does it feel like people dupe accounts way more often than you'd think
I think at least three times a week I flag something that is probably an account merge
I think this dude needs a merge
23:53
Wondering if anyone might be open to some help getting Linux software raid 10, and installing Ubuntu on it
@KyleBrandt Hey, I recognize you! You help run the SE servers, right?
I see you sometimes on the Server Fault Blog.
jrg
jrg
How much rep is it worth? ;)
@jrg Lol...?
jrg
jrg
@GeorgeEdison It was a joke. :P
I managed to create the array and go through the installer from the livecd, but that wouldn't boot, now when I go back into the livecd I can no longer start the array. Partitions in disk manager don't show the same tables as fdisk -l on some of the disks. I can't format them because they are in use. nodmraid as a kernel boot paramter doesn't seem to work as I still see modules in lsmod
@GeorgeEdison: Yup ^^ that is me
23:56
I think the Disk Manager uses the gparted backend.
...so that explains the disparity between it and fdisk.
