9:00 PM
pls don't kill my phone
hmm that's not right
4G+ and the USC data arrows
anyone know about an online diff?

rip
those two files are the same...
aha
found different ones
I'm gonna be daring and just replace the entire smali folder
at least, the parts that don't have names too long for Windows
lol rip
that just killed SystemUI

9:15 PM
RIP SystemUI

luckily I still have a working version

deja vu

Speaking of Java, today is Android-app-writing-day for me.

Today is grub boot automatically recycle wall paper after each reboot after 15 minutes in the background day for me :)

@JacobVlijm @Rinzwind such a shame that I'm a slow answerer . . . But I did draft little something:askubuntu.com/a/884793/295286

9:26 PM
@Zanna you do know I love your edits, and they are good without exception. I would prefer a somewhat lower speed however on really old posts. Active posts are flushed away from the front page in no time, while they should be kind of priority imo.

any wallpaper in ~/Pictures/Wallpaper/640x480* build list, find current name on list, change it to next one and run update-grub with sudo powers. Then maybe flash a message what's been done. sleeping cron reboot job I think because Startup Applications I'm not to sure about.
@JacobVlijm Haha Jacob think I went down that road too with Zanna.

@NathanOsman do you know of something that's able to scan an entire file tree to find any files that have different contents?

@WinEunuuchs2Unix Ah, you did?

@JacobVlijm Yes it was about three months ago when Zach was coming down hard on everyone to bring down queue review counts and Zanna was VTC'ing real old ones and our tally was greater than > 100 I asked her to slow down until we were < 100.

@JacobVlijm yes indeed, I apologise, I am overdoing it and I will stop now
I'll continue what I'm working on more slowly later haha

9:31 PM
@Serg Could you post the basic code? I prefer not to add a ppa for each and every answer I try :)

@Zanna hehe that's the team spirit :)

is this tag work?

no it's the stupid broken links thing
I have been doing it nice and slow

oh. was there ever a resolution on that or are you just removing them all?

but I just found like 8 posts by the same user that were exactly the same o.O
I have been removing them

9:33 PM
@JacobVlijm It's on GitHub. I prefer to avoid posting code that is over 200 lines long
Editing answers like that is PITA

@Zanna Thanks a lot :)

By the time she is finished we'll rename this site "Ask Zannabuntu" :)
7

Zannubtu

@JacobVlijm thanks for stopping me, I had gone into a trance there

We need to have a SE site dedicated just to Zanna and her editing capabilities

9:34 PM
@Zacharee1 kdiff does that.

We should mess up a few posts every now and then and ping her to fix :)

The site will contain one Q&A "if nothing is written nothing is wrong".

I've used it before to compare a directory of files.

@NathanOsman is this a Windows program?

Example of a question from zanna.stackexchange.com : How many edits can @Zanna perform per hour

9:34 PM
@WinEunuuchs2Unix lol
@Serg lol

ey it is

I don't know if anyone remembers Ask Oli but I could totally do something like that.

I remember, although I think it happened before I was really active.

@Zacharee1 No idea... quite a few KDE apps are available for Windows.

@Zanna but seriously, tell me your secret ? How do you have so much energy ? I need that to survive college

9:35 PM
Before my time... don't see Oli post much today but when he does it's usually "high impact" stuff.

@Serg "be awesome"
Lol, I don't know.
I'm curious myself.

@Serg she's vegetarian ;)

haha @Serg I usually cite the vegan diet but I doubt you'll want to try that tactic

Do french fries count since potatoes are vegetables?

haha but Seth took the words outta my keyboard!

9:37 PM
Actually . . . I'm willing to believe that does have an effect. When I was in China , I was eating far more veggies and visiting vegeterian cafeteria multiple times. Definitely feels good, which is why I'm trying to eat more salads recently

french fries fried in animal fat or canola oil? In france are they called "french fries" or "chips" like in England?

@NathanOsman those are totally fair game... although I'm not a fan, which makes me a freak in the UK, where chips (fries) are the staple food

@NathanOsman to me, it's less about not eating animal products and more about making healthy choices. So the basic answer to that would be "no" in my book.

:(
My philosophy: everything in moderation. Except bacon.

there are exceptions though. fry your own in a good oil. e.g. olive or coconut, just don't overdo it.

9:38 PM
(Sorry, I couldn't resist.)

@NathanOsman seems to be working

Lunch time :p Pizza this time though

kdiff not your philosophy :p

I like sweet potato chips done in the oven :)

9:38 PM
Mmmm, yes.

In the interest of being fair and honest: I stopped following most of my own advice a long time ago :/
8

Not sure whether to star that one or not...

hahaha I wish I could deny the same

@Zanna Oh those are good. Baking is often a good alternative to frying.

That is totally "Seth star-able" :)

9:39 PM
@Seth Yes.

@WinEunuuchs2Unix it's 3x4 now haha

mmmm I wish I had some sweet potatoes right now

It's not that I don't want to follow my own advice (usually), but I'm poor and super busy to buying all organic or doing raw isn't always an option for me.

I could make some roasted carrots with cumin and stuff

@Seth You should come up here some time to one of our farmer's markets.

9:40 PM
@Zanna I'm off to the grocery store in a few minutes anyway.. I'll buy a sweet potato and ping you later for instructions :)

e.g. when my family was going through some real hard times some friends of ours offered us a TON of meat they got from their own friends that raised it themselves. We weren't in a position at the time to refuse, even if most of us aren't big on meat.

@Serg I'll test it tomorrow! I have a good relationship with the couch atm :)

Well, at least they raised it.

yeah stuff is complicated :S

So you don't have all the junk they throw in processed food.

9:42 PM
@NathanOsman Not that I don't want to come up there sometime, but why for the farmers market? We have those down here :P

@NathanOsman yeah it is excellent meat, as meat goes.

For some reason, I never think of Seattle as being all that agricultural.
Pardon my ignorance.

Seriously... Seattle and Vancouver are like twin-cities in my mind.

@NathanOsman Seattle isn't, but the entire other half of Washington is pure agricultural :P

9:43 PM
Weeeeeeeell.
Yes and no.

@NathanOsman nothing to be pardoned. I know very little about BC so..

@JacobVlijm ok. feel free to test anytime.

I shouldn't say too much either. I was only a couple years old the last time I was in Seattle.

By the way, you guys are all invited to testing,too

Although I was old enough to remember the last time we went to Bellingham.

9:44 PM
Basically west of the cascades is very developed and has a lot of industry, east of the cascades is almost entirely agricultural and energy production (wind, hydro, a little solar).

@Serg eh, what the heck, I trust it works, here we go...

@Serg Scrolls up to see what we're testing...

Although there's still a fair share of farming on the west side.

We have a lot of farms south of where I live and as you travel east, there is a lot of farmland.

@Serg you know SE has a Denver office, you should visit sometime :D
@NathanOsman this may be super wrong, but doesn't BC border the major farming provinces on the east?

9:47 PM
Going east from BC, Alberta has a fairly significant amount of farmland. Saskatchewan is almost entirely farmland, Manitoba as well.

BC and Washington State have a lot in common. About 20 years ago I heard the idea to me of a new nation BC, Washington and Oregon, and maybe some parts of "beside states" into a place called "Cascadia". I would so move to a new nation like that and already have Vancouver birth-rights: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cascadia_(independence_movement)

@WinEunuuchs2Unix I like that idea.

And heck, I was born there so I would be eligible for president :D

Yes unlike the USA that controls so much of your life.

might as well invite Yukon and Alaska too.

9:48 PM
Agreed :)

Yes, we need Alaska so we can cash in on the lucrative cruise industry :D

Alaska has a lot of oil reserves too iirc.

So many Alaskan cruises originate in Vancouver.

not that we'd need those.

@Seth yeah, maybe see shog , ask him out for a beer

9:49 PM
@Seth We can better protect them.

I dunno about BC, but Washington and Oregon are something like ~98% renewable energy.
@Serg yeah!

BC is very close as well.
We have a ton of hydroelectricity.
We would be in the high 90s one way or another.

True that! The electricity company is even called "BC Hydro".

Just have to get rid of the NDP government and chop the sales taxes.

9:51 PM
We have a liberal government.

Tax the large corporations raping the resources instead.

And the sales tax isn't going anywhere :(

liberal = ndp to me anyway :p

Lol.

@NathanOsman how do you use this thing? I want to overwrite the differences with what file B has

9:51 PM
@NathanOsman we are testing an app indicator which allows triggering commands when mouse is along screen edge askubuntu.com/q/884718/295286 done it in 7 hours so would be nice to.know if it works for others and.not.

I thought you would back me up on "limited government" afterall you floated the idea 36 hours ago or so.

@Zacharee1 My experience is just with comparison, not doing anything with the files.

not just ne

guh

damn bees, spooped me

9:52 PM
@WinEunuuchs2Unix Oh, I'll back you up on that.
@Zacharee1 Let me see...

@Serg the idea of my system suspending when I accidently move the pointer to the lower right corner didn't appeal to me when I read that Q&A yesterday :p

Maybe I can figure it out.

Oh man. Steve Irwin's son on the tonight show.

@Zacharee1 I can click on an item under the "operation" column to select an action.

so I want delete?

9:55 PM
What are you trying to do?

well there are a few lines A has that B doesn't have
so I want to skip those merges

Then you want to keep A, I assume.

but then B has some hex integers that have different values
so I want to copy those to A

You'll have to do it per-file then, I think.

yeah
but I can't skip merges

9:56 PM
You can open up each file and then pick and choose, I assume.

at least I don't know how

I don't either.

that might have worked....
I think I'm just gonna copy the files that it finds
guh
why can't OEMs make this easy

then everyone else would become an OEM too :)
time to buy zanna's sweet potato... bbl.

10:20 PM
@Serg looked what it did with dconf, looked it up in dconf editor. No options for custom commands with hotcorners.

Haha enjoy
Going to sleep, just cut it up, rub the pieces with oil and salt, medium oven, 20 min, something like that
Later all :)

@JacobVlijm you mean the comment about CCSM ?

can someone get me a monitor pls

@Serg yeah, I should have mentioned that.

Unity's hotcorners are very limited. CCSM has extra options but the default schemas are limited. I know that because I've done a couple scripts for that before
heart rate monitor , as requested

10:26 PM
wat
sigh
my heart rate is more:

Well, you didn't specify what kind of monitor you want so . . . hue :D

@Seth HUE

That is huege

new color?
rip
tried to go to pcpartpicker.com
wasn't in autofill
just google searched pcp

Annoying how this site is small enough for questions to be just about completely ignored...

10:35 PM
@LegionMammal978 you attracted an NAA
that's something

@Zacharee1 NAA?

not an answer
do you have proprietary drivers installed for your graphics card

@Zacharee1 Yes, you can see them in the last two lines of the lspci output

and you're sure that .so file doesn't exist

What .so file?

10:38 PM
the lib6 one
.so.6 that is

The file exists, but putting it in LD_PRELOAD won't fix the (X?) problem

well what the first answer suggests is that you basically delete that file

Interesting. Lubuntu doesn't have zenity preinstalled

(except rename it so you don't lose it)

> The ~/.steam directory does not even contain a libstdc++.so.6 to remove:

10:39 PM
yeah but it isn't just under ./steam
sometimes you have to dig a bit, since filenames might change
go into the steam folder you found with ls
or just search for the file

@Zacharee1 The steam in the ls is an executable

oh hmm

~$ sudo find / -name 'libstdc++.so.6' 2>&-
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6
/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libstdc++.so.6
None in any Steam-related directory

you've rebooted right

lol, if I were willing to reboot, I'd have just booted into my Win10 box and used Steam there :P
But alas, I have a factorization job running

10:44 PM
that might be the issue
did you see the other answer on that Q&A?
said rebooting fixes it
but you can also try this (replacing the version number with the one you have installed)
LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/lib32/nvidia-346/:/usr/lib/nvidia-346/" steam
but I think before anything else, you should reboot
look through here if it doesn't work askubuntu.com/questions/614422/…

@Zacharee1 :
~$ LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/usr/lib32/nvidia-378/:/usr/lib/nvidia-378/" steam
ILocalize::AddFile() failed to load file "public/steambootstrapper_english.txt".

replace the version number with the version you have installed
but I think rebooting is going to fix this

~$ sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dri libgl1-mesa-dri:i386

welp
And ~/.steam/root doesn't exist
~$ tree .steam/

├── steam.pipe
└── ubuntu12_32

1 directory, 3 files
..and sure enough, rebooting made the updater run
@Zacharee1 Got Steam finally running! Who knew that turning it off and on again would do the trick :P

11:01 PM
awww the old rebooting trick :)
When befuddled... REBOOT

i'm running low on energy
good thing there's 1 hour left and then i can go home
Also, discord's icon bothers me. It looks like there's always a new message there

11:18 PM
@Zanna there is the 1 kg sweet potato ^^^ I bought and here is the recipe I plan to follow (don't know what "toss in olive oil" means though?) : minimalistbaker.com/baked-sweet-potato-chips

@Seth ever hear back from Jonathan Sampson?

@NathanOsman strangely, no.

Oh my.
My heart tried to kill me 2 days ago. Out of nowhere 180+ irregular BPM for hours. Ultrasound through throat (ouch)… https://twitter.com/i/web/status/830851823942656001

^^^ That used to happen to me lots a few years ago... went away on its own.
i think it was because of too much construction work and over-drinking.

@NathanOsman oh my indeed!
How did I miss that.
I've suspected for a while now twitter hasn't been showing me all the tweets it ought to.

11:26 PM
Well that explains the delay.

This looks vaguely familiar O.o

@Serg maybe Nathan should make multiple of those ads with different quotes :D
@NathanOsman Indeed! Now I feel bad..

@Seth yeah, variety is always welcome

@Seth sounds like he's doing better now.
@Serg yes indeed.

What I've just realized randomly ( by looking at GLib documentation ) is that they don't have sleep function apparently, only usleep . . . in microseconds . . .
What's also interesting is that we have microseconds, miliseconds, nanoseconds - all SI prefixes, powers of 10. But after 60 seconds, we sort of use minutes , which is base 60

11:39 PM
because we're weird. And the Brits are weird. Because they invented it.
(I think?)

Not really, it was Greeks.
Sexagesimal (base 60) is a numeral system with sixty as its base. It originated with the ancient Sumerians in the 3rd millennium BC, was passed down to the ancient Babylonians, and is still used—in a modified form—for measuring time, angles, and geographic coordinates. The number 60, a superior highly composite number, has twelve factors, namely 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 12, 15, 20, 30, and 60, of which 2, 3, and 5 are prime numbers. With so many factors, many fractions involving sexagesimal numbers are simplified. For example, one hour can be divided evenly into sections of 30 minutes, 20 minutes...
But Brits are descendants of Romans, who are also descendants of Greeks, so . . .still weird probably
Humans are weird creatures

With all due respect, you have not applied this line of thought elsewhere. You've answered non-Ubuntu-specific questions here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here, and here, just for starters. — Eliah Kagan Jan 4 '13 at 2:57
oh man. Classic example of getting Eliah'd xD

That Eliah is a hard worker... even if I know one link half the time I'm often too lazy to look it up and reference it.
