Oh no.... Russia Today is just telling me Canada is selling arms to Saudi Arabia.... If only there was a way to protest this and let Canadians know what's going on. A 15 billion dollar deal.
I know I'll tell @NathanOsman and he'll do the heavy lifting ^^^
Hey @Zanna, your moderator score is 38/40. If you plan on running in the next mod election, you just need to offer up a bounty on a question and be active for 3 more months for a perfect score.
@Zacharee1 After Lollipop update one annoying notification is "battery is full" but the notification causes battery to lower which generates another notification later.... very annoying!
Well I want to guess Gibsons Landing because the Beachcombers was filmed there but that is too out of the way on the "Sunshine Coast" (acronym you know right?)
Same with Calgary next time there I'll ride the C-Train. And next time I'm in Montreal I'll ride the subway.
Hey Xed! Hows the I-7, 7700 seventh generation CPU tonight?
@NathanOsman and @TheXed I wrote a draft email tonight to the president to move out of the warehouse receiving department into the software department. It only took me 6 months :p
I'm a little nervous though. What will they think? Something like "Whoaa.... that guy used to be a software developer?"
@KazWolfe I always said you would be back when you were gone. Some people at work (here in Canada) are now saying they are "he who shall not be named" supporters when at first they were silent two weeks ago.
@Serg I find a bit of comfort in the fact that wondering much about "what if"s is a bit of a thoughtless thinking, considering how chaotic every experience we have is. Maybe electrical engineering was a bad decision, but a good one in the big picture
@Serg my two cents. I wanted to take Electrical Engineering at University of Alberta but didn't have enough money to get in to four year degree. So I opted for 2 years at at NAIT for Computer Systems Technology instead. I finished with honours in 3rd place (out of 160 (kind of gives myself away)) but I still regret I didn't have the money for an EE degree and only ended up with a college diploma instead. There are certain bragging rights you will have with an EE degree.
As long as your parents are willing to support you I say "Go for it".
I had no support.
They say even if you have a university degree in Bachelor of Arts you will do better in life... wealthier, happier, etc.
@JourneymanGeek I read your complaints the other day and wanted to say something then but did not. I wish I could remember what I wanted to tell you then.
I don't know your education background. But if you can find one person with a computer problem and fix it then they tell a friend and you get more business.
My phone has an 8 core processor but I still don't know Lollipop OS expertly. My laptop typing on now is 4 core, hyper so 8 CPUs and the only problem I have is running too hot at times. I haven't run VM yet and only do nVidia games under Windows.
You have to agree she's a hard worker bee. Other than you challenging her on the audit review being too quick and lifting her ban I can't think of any mistake she's made other than deleting that other answer. Lord knows I've done much worse.
@Seth nathan has a habit for picking good people, I'd guess. Or he just has a good eye. Still, sitemod endorsements (especially for multiple ones) would make a huge difference, I'd guess.
@muru Hi! Sorry, I'm not hunting for anything. (I just got carried away and done some small edits before going to sleep.) In fact, I not even very active on Meta. I simply forget to log in there. :-) Sorry for the mistake. I seem to have a problem with "worth". It's not the first time.
I don't know if it's spam or not. I guess I'm giving it the benefit of the doubt, but it should still be removed: I've downvoted it, flagged it as very low quality, and voted to delete it.
This (unrelated post) has been edited (not by the OP) to have a title about the hosts file, but I am not sure the OP is really trying to ask about that. It seems unclear to me, but some commenters seem to think they know what is being asked for. Does it seem clear to anyone here?
I've just installed Ubuntu on my laptop and I need some help with something.
I want to configure the file host of my laptop so that a web page that I want will have the IP address 10.100.20.200.
@EliahKagan Yeah, I edited again. Mind you, that is almost certainly what the OP wants, but the question isn't just how to edit /etc/hosts but how to make a hostname resolve to a specific IP.
I am trying to back up my Ubuntu partition using the Backups app to an external USB hard drive. I have formatted the drive (NTFS) and mounted it to /media. I can access the mounted drive and write and read to and from it using the file browser and from terminal. However, it doesn't show up and o...
@Videonauth ah okay ... yes that's not an answer ... I thought you meant my one to the backup question linked above ... :) How are you doing today ? :)
Normally I'd suggest that an OP post their solution as an answer, but in this case they don't seem to have been very interested in providing additional information. Also, it would turn out to be a duplicate.
(Unrelated to the above.) Is this an answer? It seems to be trying to answer the opposite question -- the OP asked why an extra kernel was kept, and this seems to be answering the non-asked question of how an extra kernel could have been deleted.
apt-get only removes or purges something if you tell it to. Maybe you have usedapt-get purge or apt-get remove to delete the other version.
Another possibility is that some other package has a hard dependency on 3.13.0-52...
