KILL
enters command KILL, looks outside
ABORT
despreately types ABORT

This is amusing.

your bacon hat is more amusing

I have no life apparently :)
@NathanOsman glad I could help amuse you :)
anyways, that'd be interesting, a high powered orbital kinetic impact weapons platform, controlled by an old-style command line prompt/response system xD
and nobody would be able to hack it because it's too obsolete xD

:S

mmmmm, coffeee...... mmmmmmm
is at a Dunkin Donuts

7:13 PM
what about donut?

@ThomasWard I'd truly rather have them controlled by an elderly Unix server than by Windows...

@ByteCommander I never said it was a Windows system :P
it'd be an ancient UNIX-style system

Speaking of weapons, I'm going to try whether my WiFi here is good enough to play WorldOfTanks.

hallo

cool
@IanC LOOK OUT INCOMING DEBRIS FROM ORBIT

flaming pennies FROM SPACE start raining down on the umbrella
@Edity I just finished three :)
tempted to get another 5, since I missed lunch

:)

donut number 4, here I come!
mmmmm, donut.

man, a donut would be nice now
just had lunch but I got no dessert here :/

@IanC a donut?
a single donut?
screw one donut, go for ten!

7:23 PM
maybe a 2ft donut? :D

Who brought up that donut vs. doughnut discussion recently again?

some people call it doughnut?

It is doughnut.

That's the proper British English spelling, yeah.
Only lazy Americans write donut.
4
;-)

doughnut sounds a bit like you're talking about the private parts of some person called Doug
which is not how I want to call something I'll eat, so I'll just call them Sweet Torus Shaped Bread
I'm not even sure how they are called here in Brazil to be honest, I think it's rosquinhas

7:28 PM
Well, "dough" is what they're made of, so it makes sense. More sense than do-nut at least.

7:31 PM
You surely should look for a less destructive hobby...

car and house not found @ThomasWard

@ByteCommander you mean like making donuts?
sorry, but I set the oven on fire last time I tried making donuts.
NO IDEA how I did, but I did.

even though I don't play Battlefield for a long time (have played BF3 and BF2142 - which I personally disliked - a few times on friends PCs), I still get chills when I listen to the theme song! Reminds me of the old BF 1942 times :)

only battlefield game I played for a while was BFBC2

if I had a powerful desktop and some more extra time, maybe 32h days, I'd play the BF1 and BF4, they look really nice
bad company? I remember the trailer for this one was very funny haha

7:37 PM
@IanC bad company 2, but yes

I guess BC1 was the first one where they started making houses and walls breakable

I once put infinite ammo mode on BFBC2 in single player and totally destroyed a building with a grenade launcher heh

@ThomasWard Well, no worries. I managed to do that once when baking a frosted pizza at work...

o/

@ByteCommander lol
@KazWolfe TAKE COVER!

7:44 PM
I wanted to put it on a sheet of baking paper and that paper touched the heating wires for a fraction of a second and immediately caught flames.
Could still blow it out though, but that surely was a surprise.

@ByteCommander oops.

we still need to figure out @ThomasWard's alignment.

@KazWolfe what do you mean by this

In the Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) fantasy role-playing game, alignment is a categorization of the ethical and moral perspective of player characters, non-player characters, and creatures. The original version of D&D allowed players to choose among three alignments when creating a character: lawful, implying honor and respect for society's rules; chaotic, implying rebelliousness and individualism; and neutral, seeking a balance between the extremes. The 1977 release of the Dungeons & Dragons Basic Set introduced a second axis of good, implying altruism and respect for life, vs evil, implying selfishness...
also, systemd is awesome.

@KazWolfe Neutral Evil

7:51 PM
demmit.
wait, we elected a Ne/Ev to be mod?

I'm not that evil
lol.
but the D&D online test says i'm Ne/Ev.
I don't believe it

A: Dual-booting Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.04

EgrimoYou can say hi to your friends from me. It's only hard if you don't follow a good tutorial to how-to install article. It is very wisely and useful for the future that you understand other OS such as macOS(I learned most thing such as terminal from Ubuntu) There has been many tutorials in the ...

Posted the inverse of question asked.

huh?

OP asked "how do i install windows on my S76 laptop", answerer posted how to install Ubuntu alongside windows.

8:33 PM
ah

oh, and @Zacharee1:
I've done my part.

yay

8:48 PM
i did that at 2 AM my time.

@KazWolfe And the FPs? Go go go!

@ByteCommander i don't do FPs.
They cause me too much pain.

haha, like clockwork fits me almost perfectly by default

@Seth so why aren't you wearing it

@KazWolfe Caching.

8:53 PM
@Seth ah, kk :D

Finally completed the D&D test, which proves me to be truly neutral.

At the bottom of the article is a link to an online test.

@KazWolfe that redirection question you answered probably has a dupe, yet I can't find one

@Serg doesn't matter, still got goats.
and i still need to repcap.

@KazWolfe have nothing against that. Just saying.
Wonder if i should go answer some or wait till new UTC day hits

Lawful Good
huehuehue

9:19 PM
I am lawful derp

tru

I derp therefore i am

I'm not sure if I feel good that the function I wrote compiled and seems to be working on the first try, or if I feel suspicious about it..

@Serg WOULD YOU CARE TO TEST THIS ASSUMPTION IN BATTLE MY FRIEND

when is MetaBot gonna pick up my Q?
probably not as fast as it found Kaz's

9:28 PM
@ByteCommander Actually I answered these questions more truthfully
i ended up with Chaotic Evil

o_O

Wasn't that to expect?

though I've drifted between Chaotic Evil, Neutral Evil, Lawful Evil, and Chaotic Neutral before

The tendency is visible though

you're Quadpolar?

9:29 PM
I'm omnipolar
I AM EVERYTHING
ALL ALIGNMENTS
ALL OF THEM

sigh

AND I CHOOSE WHICH I AM AT EACH MOMENT MUAHAHAH
shoots self in foot

@ThomasWard True Neutral.

@KazWolfe with the capacity to choose what i choose to be at any given moment
o/ @Takkat
o/ @Hizqeel

question. there's a question where there's a lot of reasons for an error to happen.
i don't know which one, but would it still be a good idea to post an answer covering one of those errors?

@ThomasWard What is o/ ? :\

9:34 PM
@Hizqeel means hello: o/ is like a person waving

damn, ninja'd.

Q: Very Low Quality flag still appears in the review queue

Zacharee1I noticed that the VLQ flag seems to have been taken away, which makes a lot of sense, since it never really fit anywhere. Flagging an answer normally shows this: Flagging from review still shows the old dialog: (From Late Answers) It still shows the VLQ option. If it's been removed, sho...

@Serg are you busy atm man?

9:42 PM
woo, 30 away from repcap

@IanC not really, whats up ?

also, unpopular opinion: I like Windows ACL/permissions a lot more than I do Linux permissions.
you can be way more verbose with them and assign anyone their own set of permissions as opposed to the relative shotgun blast of rwx.

@Serg mind going to utox?

@IanC sure. Give me about 10 mins

no hurry!
just ping me when you log there @Serg

9:46 PM
@KazWolfe I hate Windows permissions. They end up in a loop sometimes. Like if I want to delete a system folder, I'll need permission from TrustedInstaller. So I try to take ownership of it and its subdirectories. If that works (whole other story when it doesn't), when I try to delete again, I need permission from myself!

that's windows being stupid with TrustedInstaller though.

@KazWolfe very unpopular. Windows permissions are disgustingly awful

@Seth still better (imo) to be able to assign permissions to a user without making yet another group.

Linux supports ACLs as well, you know?

i mean, linux permissions are more elegant, but windows perms are more powerful
@ByteCommander i do know, they're still occasionally a pain to use though.

9:49 PM
@KazWolfe simple is powerful.

@KazWolfe well it happens with SYSTEM, and other users too. Not only limited to deletions either. And I still can't find a way to just override any permissions and delete stuff. Even an admin CMD will get permission denied

I've spent hours dealing with windows permissions issues..

@Seth tell that to Apple. I don't think they got that memo

@Seth simple (without ACLs) doesn't allow me to give jdoe access to a folder without making a new group or putting them in an existing one.

@KazWolfe it's not like that's hard to do
although I do agree it's weird

9:51 PM
i just don't like things like group-for-accessing-some-random-folder-42984 cluttering up my system.

@KazWolfe that's exactly what ACLs are for though. Not to mention exactly how Windows does it.

@KazWolfe I just don't like not being able to control my files :p

Windows certainly makes it easier to set up from the get go, but it's a lot harder to maintain.

@Zacharee1 well that's windows being stupid because it doesn't have a true root. it's split up into god knows how many places with all sorts of annoying variables.

@KazWolfe and that's a permission system problem
one that imo overrides the convenience of individual permissions

9:56 PM
still, i don't want to create a special group just for a single folder that's accessed by a hodgepodge of people.
i mean, yeah, ACLs, but those aren't always an option for reasons.
It's a miracle!
A new user has sensible tags!

wot

anyone want to see some pictures?

sure

10:11 PM
Okay don't laugh too hard...
hmm the upload keeps failing...

Probably too large?
Scale it down or reduce quality

Where's the awesomeness?

I never said it was awesome...
I just said it was a picture

10:27 PM
@KazWolfe what is that from? It looks familiar.

@Seth it's a meme.
Caddyshack, though.

@ByteCommander best Who episode EVER. Goosebumps all over 1st time I saw that

Unfortunately I haven't seen "Blink" (guessing this is what you're referring to) yet

SCPs are better.

Last episode was last year's Christmas special with the dream crabs.

10:30 PM
so... question. How would I turn this question into a +3?

@ByteCommander yes
and I meant that as "best single Doctor Who episode".
There are a few multi-episode that where better story-wise

and i repcapped, so it's time to reboot into windows.... sigh

So about the dream crabs, that means the two episodes where they get to know Missy were all dreamt?
Starting after Danny Pink died and before Clara threatened to throw away the Tardis keys?

yes

So Missy is still alive - but he now knows her?

10:44 PM
spoiler: Missy = The Master

Only 20 more points to get my badge

@Rinzwind That has already been revealed in the last double-episode.

get to it! :=)
@ByteCommander did you see the xmas special?

But I never saw the Master, so I don't get much from that info.
Xmas special was the dream crabs.

no the last one ;)

10:48 PM
no

tsk
In June the new series begins <3
ah well
see youall next time

@Zanna come back to chat!

o/

yay :D

10:53 PM
:D

@Zanna I see you've been attacking Ubuntu One

chat is buzzing I see

sort of
I'm fooling around with Emotion AOSP on my Note, now that CM is dead

@Zacharee1 yeah... trying to balance that out a bit now by attacking the CVs in mod tools, so as to cut down the queue at the same time as pumping it with new stuff...
@Zacharee1 so gutted about CM! Any forks?

@Zanna nice

10:56 PM
How is Emotion?

@Zanna Well LineageOS is the official continuation, just no longer under Cyanogen Inc. But there's also Resurrection Remix (which uses CM as a base), Paranoid Android, AOKP, AICP, Emotion AOSP, straight-up AOSP, and probably some others
@Zanna It's blazing. Two year old Note 4, running about as fast as my V20

lots to explore then :)

yeah
but it's definitely more fractured now

@Zacharee1 heh that's awesome :)
@Zacharee1 I guess something will rise to the top after a while

we'll see and hope

10:57 PM
yepyep

It looks like a lot of people are going to stay with LineageOS though, so that's good
Kind of sad that we'll probably not see a theme engine in CM/LOS 14

yeah :(

but Substratum is definitely nice
just bought a full-black theme for it and it's pretty good
my OLED screen thanks me :p

I've not seen any of my Linuxy friends for a while. DIdn't ask my bro what he's doing about CM when we talked over Hangouts at Xmas (he didn't have a chance to come home from Japan this year) my mum gets kind of impatient with any techtalk haha
