11:00 PM
@KazWolfe well I did also get this because removable battery, SD card, QHD, and second screen
I have a lot of factors I really enjoy

so there. revised wishlist:
- Bigger battery (thicker phone, i don't care)
- Removable battery
- SD Card
- Wireless charging
- Full LTE Band support
- QHD (with no loss to battery life)
- IR (if no extra expense)

basically, I want an upgraded Note 4 :p

@edwinksl yeah... I don't think there's any chance of me getting a gold, I will have to think of a really awesome question...

IR? Is that still a thing today?

for me
and every TV in existence

11:01 PM
@ByteCommander only for Zach.
my tv is controllable over internet :/

Probably the only only thing in my house supporting IR is my TV remote.

@ByteCommander Yes a couple of hours ago I wanted to spend a bounty on a good question. But the one you are linking is a question I just posted and ineligible for bounty for 2 days :(

@KazWolfe well mine is too, but not every TV is a WiFi-enabled one
like the one in my dorm for example

@Zacharee1 mine isn't wifi enabled.

Hats are there until Jan 9th, so you've got plenty of time ...

11:02 PM
@KazWolfe OK, network enabled

(not that I would be begging for a bounty, but I'd take what I can get)

But yours is, so irrelevant. IR is still unnecesssary.

but it's not that much of a bother to include it

(even so, my TV is on a special network that can't go outside to the world, and can only be accessed internally)

it's not like it's an expensive piece of equipment, and it's a tiny module

11:03 PM
If it's not a big deal to include it, and won't change the price or battery life, sure, I'll take it.
but i'm not paying extra for an IR-enabled phone.

like I said, this phone also has QHD, a removable battery, and SD slot

@WinEunuuchs2Unix "I edited the original question" - I don't see any edit. Should I blame caching or did you forget it?

i still like the OP3 a lot more than the V20.

since it also has a second screen, a really good DAC and a military durability rating, I think it's well worth the price
@KazWolfe well that's because you get really good software :p
my phone comes with LG Stock, which is really weird, but it's definitely better than the G2 I used to have.

@Zacharee1 also more RAM

11:05 PM
@KazWolfe 3 and V20 have the same processor

@Zanna i might go for the archaeologist badge but that is bound to annoy people lol

and CyanogenMod14.1 is already working on the TMO V20, with a good chance the second screen will work too

@ByteCommander Well I did edit it... I just forgot to post it...hehe

@edwinksl haha I'm editing all manner of stuff all day every day, probably drives everyone crazy

11:05 PM
@KazWolfe 6GB isn't really usable on a phone yet though. I haven't come close to filling it up

actually spec-wise, the two phones are pretty similar.
@Zacharee1 And I don't think IR is usable on a phone.

@KazWolfe OP is the "flagship killer"

renames room to "Discussion between Kaz Wolfe and Zacharee1 about mobile phones"

@KazWolfe except that it's very much functional :p

I've reached the point where the site seems like an essay of mine that I need to proofread before I submit it

11:06 PM
@Zacharee1 And I have use for 6GB ram. so shush.

when have you filled up the 6GB on your phone?

ubuntu touch.

it has UT??

@Zanna I thought AskUbuntu was like your very long resume :)

(i don't have a OP3)

11:07 PM
wut

(still stuck with an iphone 6s)

right but UT?

@WinEunuuchs2Unix haha <3 noooo I can't take credit for its awesomeness, I'm just editing compulsively

UT works perfectly on devices with 2GB RAM. 6GB is nice, but it's about as gimmicky right now as Smart Stay

11:08 PM
or IR.

@WinEunuuchs2Unix Wow wow... Normally I say context in questions is good, but that wall of text is a bit much context compared to the actual question, don't you think? That's almost a new question on its own.

@KazWolfe 0% complete

@Zanna Well not all of AskUbuntu I just mean your 1,000's of answers and comments are like your resume.

user136984
Does anybody know of a screencasting program in the official repositories which works under Wayland?

@ByteCommander I agree... can you roll back the edit?

11:09 PM
@KazWolfe well yeah, but that's at least a functional gimmick :p

@WinEunuuchs2Unix You can do that too. It's your post.

@Zacharee1 Ramdisks.

I don't think anyone has managed to break 4GB usage on the 3
@KazWolfe wat

@ByteCommander OK... where is the roll-back button???

Still pretty sure the OP4 will murder the V20.

11:09 PM
let's move to Discord
@KazWolfe seeing as it'll be a later-gen device, probably

@WinEunuuchs2Unix click on edited 5 seconds ago

although I expect it to be the OP5, not 4

and then you see the revisions...

@WinEunuuchs2Unix in the revisions section (click the "edited 6 mins ago" link)

@Zacharee1 Why not 4?

11:10 PM
hang on I have a meta answer...

Also, I can load apps/data into ramdisk and use that.

@KazWolfe sounds like death in Chinese?
bad luck and all that

yay for being a power user

@WinEunuuchs2Unix here with screenshot... meta.askubuntu.com/questions/15814/…

@ByteCommander I apologize for talking about a question and then leaving ! :D My computer went funny
I wanted to know if you can find the id of the user who sent a message
I have the message in a Python variable message

11:13 PM
Oh crud I think I just rolled back someone's typo correction :(

@WinEunuuchs2Unix where?

Pheww...nope all is good... the typo correction was to the second revision not the first OP.

@MarkYisri lol, no problem. I even forgot that you asked already until you mentioned it

Finally logged into chat on a desktop.
I get to see everyone's hats.

@Nathan I'm always on a desktop.

11:15 PM
Should be possible to get that info.

Me too but not lately.

Actually I believe it must be possible.
However, I haven't really touched CE in a year or so, let me look it up...

I just have a trophy (Apparently you can only have one hat) ??

@Zanna thanks for teaching me how to roll-back... that's a handy trick! :)

@MarkYisri may i ask you to maybe mail me the source of the coyote?

11:17 PM
@Videonauth absolutely. Can you send me an email at yisrimark@gmail.com (And no @Mateo I am not removing the email address)?

@WinEunuuchs2Unix revision histories can be very useful

isn't the source code of coyote on github?

@Zanna Yes... Funny how I never noticed that "Edited x minutes ago" was a hyper-link... you learn something knew every day here

@WinEunuuchs2Unix very much so :)

@edwinksl it is, but I haven't updated in a while

11:19 PM
@MarkYisri The Message object should have a .owner field. Not sure if that is a User object or the ID though.

Hmm, hold on while I log in to my fancy online server (Cloud9 :D)

you g t mail (plays AOL jingle)

@ByteCommander Please visit the Coyote's Den, where I posted a long error message.

I know it's off topic to talk about Ubuntu in this room but... I must say newest kernel update 4.4.0-53 is running Intel p-states and thermald very very nicely... low CPU utilization and temps 20 degrees C lower.

 The Coyote's Den

A room for interacting with CoyoteBot. Also, you can ask me qu...

11:21 PM
@Videonauth how did you know?

@WinEunuuchs2Unix That's not off-topic. :D
@Byte he has sent me an email requesting sources

user136984
I don't know why, but I always seem to win Chess games and quite well actually when I am also listening to Iron Maiden songs at the same time! :D

@MarkYisri We have a standing joke in this room we don't talk about Ubuntu...haha

I just noticed that my Maths teacher has sent a mail as well.

@ByteCommander im a telepath for electronic devices

11:22 PM
More homework... :-/

Speaking of homework... I have to take turkey out of freezer and put it in fridge for 5 days...brb
that was a lot of work...i should have a beer now.

taco hat wut

cold bird... penguin?

@WinEunuuchs2Unix thanks for the reminder ! We need a turkey. :D
Grade A turkey:

We just got one yesterday.

11:30 PM
@MarkYisri Safeway has Turkey for 97 cents a pound and stove-top stuffing for 99 cents.

What...........
Well, you can't get one here for that price.

I bought mine two weeks ago at Loblaws, just glad I remembered to put it in fridge to unthaw

They're charging $2+ / lb. at Safeway here.

O_o that sounds way too good to be true

@NathanOsman that's not butterball turkey price... it's the cheap turkeys

11:32 PM
Oh, okay.
Never mind then :D

yeah the cheap turkeys kind of taste like... tastes like... chicken...hehe

user136984
Who is upstream for Etherape does anyone know?

I really really really want to wrap the turkey in bacon.

user136984
What is it with you people and Bacon? :D

@WinEunuuchs2Unix ours always taste like chicken !!

user136984
11:34 PM
Anyway, goodnight folks! :)

@Zanna so.. apparently the system takes the amount of time you spend on each review into account rather heavily, which is why you got banned after only 2 failures (apparently you were going "fast" according to it in the LQP queue). I've removed the ban but I do want to know what your thought process behind this one was: askubuntu.com/review/low-quality-posts/654378

night @ParanoidPanda I'll let the NSA know you are sleeping when they pop in to ask about you again.

Don't attack much weight to the audit system. It absolutely does not work well and everyone knows that. They are trying to improve it, but it is a hard thing to improve.

Bleh, not exactly productive day

11:37 PM
why can i not get a zero-accepted answer?!

@Seth I did notice one improvement... When trying to post a comment which before could be an audit failure the system now says "This is an audit" which tells me don't bother making a comment and decide whether to delete, approve or my chicken option "skip".

I probably should stop trying to answer questions tonight. Quality of my answers just doesn't go up today

@Serg I gave you a +1 on the answer for sed vs. tail even though the answer was really a comment...LOL
@KazWolfe What's a "zero-accepted answer"?

@WinEunuuchs2Unix accepted answer with score == 0

@KazWolfe I have tons of those... actually earned me the "unsung hero" badge last month.

11:42 PM
@NathanOsman I heard before you are a Python expert. Can you help me ? :D

I can try.

@WinEunuuchs2Unix well . . uh . . ok. It kinda grew past the size of a comment at this point, and it's an answer as far as providing logical reasoning goes, but . . . ok

@MarkYisri Serg is a Python guru too

Also true ---^

^^ must be true because that true is my true

11:43 PM
@Serg @Nathan can you help in the Coyote's Den? We have a Python bug over there.

@MarkYisri ping me from that room plz

@Serg not sure if it went through

@Seth aah yes that was really bad, not enough thinking for that one, of course. I looked at the off-topic question, and I thought "this is just your opinion" because it sounds like bad science "if there was something wrong with x, people wouldn't be doing it" "it's OK for me, so you won't have any issues either"

@MarkYisri nope, it didn't. It's ok, i'll navigate to it

@Zanna my problem with that answer is I think an older LTS is more stable than the latest LTS. ie I had a lot of problems with 16.04 when ubuntu prompted me to upgrade off of 14.04. It wasn't until very recently that I'm happy witih 16.04.

11:47 PM
hmm yeah some folks like to stick with the older version... but with newer hardware, stuff tends to get fixed in never versions

@Zanna that is true... I'm just pointing out the blanket answer "newest LTS is better than older LTS" is not always true when the LTS is like bleeding-edge new.

yeah I think... this kind of discussion is why the post and posts like that get closed

No doubt in my mind 16.04 LTS is better than 14.04 LTS today... but 4 months ago you had lots of people wanting to downgrade.

but I see that it is a valid answer and I shouldn't have tried to kill it
my mistake

Personally I wouldn't have deleted it but I would have commented like I just did here, which in the old days would be an audit failure but now the software says "This is an audit" when you try to post your comment.

11:51 PM
@Seth thank you very much for unbanning me, I will try hard to deserve it by doing better
@WinEunuuchs2Unix they fixed that! ^_^

Pfft @Zanna you always do a great job... don't sweat it.

I was quite annoyed about an audit I failed that way - that one was unjust because the comment was completely judicious and when I made it for real the poster thanked me and made a correction hahaha
@WinEunuuchs2Unix thanks, but I'm clumsy, so I need to sweat a bit to stay sharp :)

In one audit failure I had tried to comment on something Seth or Byte or another leading AU'er had posted and it was like "this is a great answer" and the audit software said something like "how dare you try to comment on this community accepted answer"... and I was "holy crap"

hahahaha yeah exactly
I also failed an audit when I tried to flag a canonical post as a dupe of itself

So I complained here in AU chat and within a few days the software was changed to say "This is an audit" instead of failing you.

11:55 PM
yes, mods are awesome...
specifically AU mods

Not just that the "mods are awesome" is that they have the tools / smarts to change the software... that is truly ground-breaking.

that all comes under awesome I thought but yes indeed

Well for me it's a game-changer because in past experience mods could just ban / delete and couldn't actually change software behaviour.

I'm not sure whether i should get coffee or tea

I was very pleasantly surprised when I passed an audit recently when I tried to edit a good post to make a small correction, it said something like "it's always good to make a great post even better, well done you"
@Serg both?

11:57 PM
@Serg Tea, preferably earl grey... it's too late for coffee.

@Zanna O.o
mix them together ?

no, coffee first, tea a bit later...

Lady at work last friday made hot chocolate with vanilla ice cream and sprinkles... now that was interesting for the taste buds...mmmm

It was good?

What I'd really like is wang lao ji, it's a Chinese herbal tea. I was drinking so much of it this year in China
