The big question is - how much time do I have to spend hacking something together with Let's Encrypt before it becomes more expensive than just buying it again?

I'm going to take a close look at how I might be able to do it with Let's Encrypt.

It would probably involve a Go program that gets fed a list of domains and periodically renews them.
