Terdon and Thomas? What a surprise :p
@Videonauth uh
@ParanoidPanda Feels good to know the community supports me! And it feels good to be able to help the community even more :)
thanks once again to everyone who voted for me :)
@ThomasW. rats
:p
Personally, I was rooting for Video, but I can understand why his 2-month membership might turn people away
I am glad to see you a mod too though :)
Sigh... Bootstrap...
.modal('hide')

Manually hides a modal. Returns to the caller before the modal has actually been hidden (i.e. before the hidden.bs.modal event occurs).
How useless...
22:15
@Zacharee1 Understandable, but i'm glad I have your vote of confidence anyways :)
:) well next time im in again ;) and hopefully will make it then
@Zacharee1 sorta
Hello Everybody! :)
This is the worst day of my life because 1 my keyboard is not working properly 2 I can't remember my codecademy username 3 I am using the on screen keyboard and 4 it took me forever to type this. :(
What does one two three and four add up to?
user136984
22:30
Well, goodnight folks! And newly elected mods! ;)
user136984
Sleep well!
sleep well panda :)
hey guys have some questions
:30521771 im not very firm in many hardware things but, well ask and then i can tell you if i know a possible solution or not
if I downgrade to ubuntu 14.04 GNOME does GNOME downgrades too?
22:35
@Pablo Don't downgrade. Just re-install.
Downgrading causes so many problems.
is ubuntu 14.04 still supported?
ok
thanks Ill stick with 16.04 then
@Pablo Downgrades are painfully evil
@Seth Would a really cheap or free LG G2 be good? My step-dad got a new phone, so if we can find his old G2, we may have an extra. I have one with a broken digitizer too, which I'm planning to repair
and i'm not lying about the painful part
if you've upgraded, stick with what you have
if you can't stand, reinstall older after backing up data you want to keep
or do the /home on another partition thing
then it's like a downgrade without any settings being kept :p
22:37
LVM FTW.
eww :p
askubuntu.com/q/789950/522934 <-- has just before asked a question about wifi, and well slowly im not sure if this guy even has a computer or simply a pile of problems
@Zacharee1 Says the user who can't immediately rollback his system after a botched driver upgrade.
:D
God i am not living in any suburban are ever again
Fkin bees , wasps, god knows what
@NathanOsman how many terabytes do I need for this?
@Serg go full on rural
22:38
However many you want to use.
guns, tractors, DSL
It's a partitioning tool.
@NathanOsman But doesn't it need space to store backups?
@Zacharee1 imma rural out of here once i have enough money
@Zacharee1 The snapshots?
22:39
@NathanOsman yes
You can make them as big as you want them to be.
@Zacharee1 Wow. That would be better than I have. Before anything else though, what carrier?
It's COW (copy-on-write) so they only take up space as new data is written.
(Though the space is pre-allocated.)
@Seth Verizon, but I believe the bootloader can be unlocked. And since it's VZW, it'll work on any carrier. No SD slot though
@NathanOsman OK, so I could end up needing a lot
Why do people make such a fuss about SD card slots?
22:40
@NathanOsman expandable storage
@NathanOsman It is extremely useful when you're stuck on Windows and ADB hates you because of that
@Zacharee1 No different than a regular backup though - and any identical data is only stored once.
@ThomasW. 64 GB ought to be enough for everyone.
Ducks.
Worst part is that my dear father of mine doesn't understand that i hate all that buzzing flying creepy crawly weirdness with passing. I freaking gonna have heart attack
@Zacharee1 Anything is better than 8GB non expandable.
@Serg Don't they sell insect repellent there?
22:42
@NathanOsman points at the 256GB SD card in his tablet that still has 8 VMs stored on it
@Seth 32GB should be good then.
@ThomasW. That is obscene.
@ThomasW. o_O
gimmeh
And I want one.
:)
22:42
How fast is it though?
UHS 3?
SD? Mine's 2 years old, so it has about 11MB/s read, 5 write
But I'd imagine a 256GB could be even slower
Although with improved technology...
I have seen 90MB/s write advertized
I won't buy anything with less than 90 MB/s.
@NathanOsman Yes. It is.
22:43
@Zacharee1 I know. I have one of those.
I had no other hard disks :)
It'll work
Not amazingly, but it'll work
Pretty big price jump from 128 to 200
@NathanOsman they do, except nobody spends money on that. Savings are more important
22:45
@Zacharee1 amazing. Only catch: I'm probably not going to have any hard funds until fall and even then not much. If/when you find it we can talk that stuff outside here tho
@NathanOsman can I put it in my phone?
@Zacharee1 challenge accepted.
That's 12 Gbps write speed for those who didn't click the link.
@Seth kk. You can get the phone for $100, so even if you end up paying me, it's probably going to be less than $40
@Zacharee1 Oh I can manage that!
@NathanOsman that thing's only $338 USD??!
@Seth I'd hope :p
I just need to find the damn thing
heh, this G2's still on KK, so I have the lockscreen widgets
I miss those things :(
22:49
At those speeds, swap almost becomes as fast as main memory.
I swear the broken digitizer has moods. Sometimes it works as long as I don't touch near the crack, and sometimes it's so wonked-out it turns the screen off because the phone thinks it's being double-tapped
@NathanOsman almost? How fast is DDR3?
> "Thus with a memory clock frequency of 100 MHz, DDR3 SDRAM gives a maximum transfer rate of 6400 MB/s."
whoa
that's fast
Of course it is.

Q: Create SSH shell with only working "sftp", "rsync" and chroot?

GeorgeI have two users and one shared folder in my Ubuntu server: User writer, which has write access to /var/shared. It's an application regularly making file changes in this folder from remote, with SSH key. User reader is used by multiple clients with SSH key, a key they can get without my permiss...

@Videonauth Election all done now I guess, happy with the way it went?
@andrew.46 mhmmmmmmmm i could have made itt but i guess it was like i was expecting it ;)
congratulations @ThomasW. @terdon I voted for you both ;)
@Mateo Thanks!
23:12
@Videonauth I was very happy with my own ranking and I have a goal now: next mode elections in 1 or 2 years :)
mod even
Why so blue ;p
Life goals : get higher score than muru in the next election
oh, you are a mod now! So your name is blue @ThomasW.
@Mateo Yes, it is!
3 hours ago, by Nathan Osman
@ThomasW. is blue. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH.
sorry, I had to share :)
@NathanOsman ^
@Serg mine would be to actually run again for another tshirt ;p
Life is busy right now, so couldn't risk it this time
23:19
Maybe i am too angry right now, but really my goal is to move out of Colorado
I've had enough of bugs, marijuana, drivers, etc.
And allergy . Every day starts and ends with sneezing, coughing , whatever
do you know what is causing it @Serg?
@Seth that's the biggest problem - i don't know
@Serg The doctors can run tests. My Dad used to go them every few years so he knew what to avoid.
@Seth nobody will spend money on that
And there's some huge bug in my backyard, possible wasp
God i hate this place
the va is paying for my allergy tests but it takes in. a while to get
stupid short in keyboard
23:34
@Seth can you block me from chat for a few hours ? I am afraid ill say something stupid. Im not very stable right now
ok.
Seth is a very kind mod. :)
thank you :)
@Serg Now you known how it feels like to be blocked! :D
@Serg try finding a place that sells local honey, eat a tablespoon a day
23:43
A nice practice is Jala Neti....
For this sort of allergy, dust, coughing, bad air etc
Can a mod permanently block an account from chatting?
Kinda.
We can send you away for something like 400 days. Almost forever in internet time.
@Mateo this is good advice (cc @Serg)
but it has to be RAW. i.e. unpasteurized.
@HenryWHHack er, no. You should flag such things. That way we have an audit trail
JourneymanGeek Hello o/
What type of flag?
is anyone familiar with the hawaii desktop?
23:54
lawn chair and martini on maui?
its available in fedora 24. this is all I found and it doesn't say much: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawaii_(desktop_environment)
Qt Quick? Eeeeeeeek!
See thats my point. What's the deal with Qt Quick?
Also has lxqt available too
> aiming at desktop and mobile convergence.
That's probably the deal with Qt Quick
(or were you asking why my reaction?)
Hey - what's wrong with Qt Quick?
23:58
Oh, cool, thanks.
@NathanOsman nothing. Except it doesn't seem suited for a full blown desktop environment.
@chaskes still disappointed it wasn't a lawn chair and martini.
Isn't that what Mir is using?
@NathanOsman Ubuntu Touch is using it.
Well, I can put a lawn chair (and bourbon or scotch) anywhere
Hmm, but Unity 8 might be as well.
