@jrg Very interesyting
@BrunoPereira pics or it didn't happen! :P
woohoo, got two bounties today
with luck this is going to be a 200 rep day after some loooooong time :D
@htorque think you also will get a silver :P
who the hell calls food vegemite anyways??? perthnow.com.au/business/media-marketing/…
vegemite... haha, some love it, some hate it
19:20
anyone here installed ubuntu tv yet?
heheh @BrunoPereira thanks for the push :P
you're getting my votes on a regular basis - well deserved, of course.
Will installing Ubuntu TV effect Unity 2d?
@htorque don't know what you are talking about....
:D
Hi all :) Congrats for the bounties \o/
@rlemon probably since its very unstable atm
@rlemon you can apparently install in in unity and unity2d
19:22
@Takkat he, thanks. only 38 days with 200+ rep left to get the 'epic' badge :D
basically before I go installing this, my concern is can i easily back out of it - or can/will it bork my unity
"only", nicely said... That would take me ages...
@rlemon would make a serious backup first, my guess is that it will break some stuff, if not today in some recent future update
only four more years. \o/
4 long years.
Ubuntu 16.04 :)
19:25
LOL
any way you can easyly count that?
If it's less than five I use my fingers...
50*(days here/days with 200+ rep) - days here =: days to go :P
@Takkat -.-
but that's dumb extrapolation
@htorque no, count how many days you have 200+
19:27
oh
and scroll down
dam, dont want to count them by hand
> earned at least 200 reputation on 1 days
:""(
at the bottom it will say
days represented 414
rep cap was reached via rep from upvotes *only* on 1 days
earned at least 200 reputation on 11 days
earned 4 reputation out of a maximum of 1000 from suggested edits
something like this ^
not going to get any more points for suggested edits :P
At least you have 4 (I have 0 only)
:P
no idea how i got those
i definitely could edit before that feature was added.
maybe tag wiki edits.
19:30
12 it is, still far away from glory... :P
it's probably 13
only added at the end of the day
wonder how no one has it yet :S
already got more than i do - after just three months :P
@htorque oh, great :P
I try to keep them linear
19:32
ze germans
pfft
@Takkat steady as a drunk man driving on the desert
lol
I approaches 17,500...
But with todays rep you will jump over it
19:35
right, got to start a 200 rep bounty :D
but not today :D
Do something about your SU rep..
i'll probably never get a 200+ rep day ever again :D
heh, no thanks :P
The only good features out of Windows have to be hacked out of it: techspot.com/guides/485-windows-concurrent-sessions :P
lol
3rd party dll patching is all i ever wanted :P
19:47
LOL
and ppl complaint that PPAs are "insecure"
They are but without risk. No fun. Never got sweaty hands when installing a ppa.
well they can be, but nothing compared with trusting 3rd party files from some random user for your Windows system
I still remember those evil tuning tools for XP.
ScrewUp 2010 from ComputerBILD?
TuneUp, RegCleaner, TweakUI
"how to bork my system in 10 seconds"
gimp fails to rotate a 100 megapixel scan... oO
good thing i haven't saved the work in the second window :D

Q: Accidently Overwrote Hardrive with DD, Recovery of Files?

jazoneI'm an idiot, I was writing an image to a USB drive using dd when instead of typing /dev/sdb I typed /dev/sdd and wrote the 135mb image to my 750gb External Hardrive full of files. Is there ANY posibilty of recovering the files or did dd completely zero out the drive? Please help, as this is one ...

Ouch
ddrescue wont help.
But it's only 135MB of 750GB - not much lost then, is there?
But the filesystem index is probably among those 135MB... Forgive my ignorance, but can you even fsck if that's the case?
I'd go for testdisk/photorec in this case.
the superblock is mirrored all over the drive iirc
testdisk should be able to fix it, but the overwritten data is gone for sure.
Ah journaling...

Im also sure of that, beam me up Scotty!
@htorque @Takkat TIL. Could one of you answer, you seem pretty informed. :D
no time, i'm afraid :(
jrg
jrg
answered, even though i don't like the question.
are there any truly valid instances where you need to hide your history?
i kill it, because i don't need it.
@jrg While "having fun" in AU while on company's time using company's network and PCs?
jrg
jrg
20:23
Ok, that's valid.
although it won't stop your IT department from screwing you over.
yeah, but at least I dont need to feel bad enough to have to delete history and cache later on, besides is probably the safest way you can browse your online bank accounts ;)

@JacobJohanEdwards thanks for the edit.

ok so after installing and 'testing' ubuntu TV - I have noticed all the 'times' for the streaming shows are starting at 19:00 when locally it is only 16:00
is this because that is when the earliest media starts?
or is there a preferences area?
also I cannot view anything other than local media. (no streaming content)
@rlemon be patient, it has just came out from concept to reality, did you install it on unity2d?

@jrg only if you add an explanation to your post that you couldn't find a way to do it per URL
22:03
@BrunoPereira i used the apt installer. installed from a Unity session
hey all, is there something I need to configure to allow telnet connections on some arbitrary port on my server?
say: 2626
I keep getting: telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
so is there anything like prism addon for firefox9 ? to save webpage as separate app?
jrg
jrg
22:18
@MarcoCeppi ok. consider it done.
anyone have any ideas about the telnet issue?
I can connect to localhost but when I try to connect from a remote machine it gets refused
hmm not forwarding through router?
jrg
jrg
firewall issue?
@wisemonkey lets not hope its that considering I'm sitting behind a corporate firewall and I don't have access to change those settings....
anything local I can try first?
jrg
jrg
oh yes.
run ifconfig in a terminal
22:25
done
jrg
jrg
and find out what your IP address is for either wlan0 or eth0
and then try to telenet into it using that
otherwise, its the firewall.
hmm I meant remote machine's telnet port 2626 haven't been forwarded through router (remote)?
@wisemonkey remote machine and my machine are both behind the same corporate firewall, which is why I wouldn't think that would be the issue since I'm not actually going out
ohh ok
then yup firewall not letting u
how can it be the firewall, when both machines are behind the firewall and I'm not attempting to get out of the network at all?
what about my iptables? could it be I need to allow the traffic?
22:30
hmm well but still they need to connect to each other through same switch/machine acting as a switch
well just added: sudo iptables -A INPUT -p tcp -i eth0 --dport 2626 -j ACCEPT to my iptables with still no luck
@MarcoCeppi: I'm ready to list Stack Alert on the Chrome store now.
@GeorgeEdison I just left the office, I'll ping you in about 60-80 mins

@jrg as long as it's while you're editing. Otherwise leave it - the old link still works
