Q: My flags have been waiting for review for 10+ days?

Android DevI have several flags that I raised on the 5th... and they are still waiting for review. What gives?

Ah ok
well i just had to flag around (yeah i have 14 fresh flags :p)
.
Gotta clear the notifications
Flagged as well
00:06
@Seth yes i saw that post and upvoted it :)
ok next testsuite to run sighs
sigh . . . .If I don't figure out the serial connection, i wonder what else i could do for the final project

I still have that migration still in front of me, migrating my work machine to dualboot ubuntu and win7
01:07
time to see if I can upgrade to 16.04
I'm hanging on for the ISO.
All my machines are getting a clean install.
Not me
If I get a chance later, I might set up a mirror again.
mirror?
yeah flaged that one just now
as unclear what youre asking ^
It's not really unclear. They want Canonical to put that hardware as "officially supported" hardware on the Ubuntu site. It's and off-topic and rude rant, sure, but it's not really unclear
Anything to close it though :p
Obligatory anxiety that comes with uninstalling old kernel versions
I think I just broke Ubuntu
We'll see
16.04 is pretty big
1.4GB
indeed
alone the kernel package is about 300 MB installed
01:30
well all of its packages included tho
@Zacharee1 I'll host a copy of the amd64 desktop ISO.
ah
How fast is your upload?
This is either off-topic or a duplicate: askubuntu.com/questions/759733/…
@NathanOsman ^
What do you think?
@Zacharee1 Should be at least 100mbps up (down for you).
O_O_O_O
Fast!
@Zacharee1 That's not a dupe, that's off-topic. Too opinionated.
01:39
Oh cool, it is something :D
:p
hehehe
what time is it at your places ?
PM...
ah ok :p well heres 3:40 am
01:40
So Chrome is no longer supported on 12.04
But what happens if you add the Trusty repo?
they might end up with brocken packages maybe
Where are you? @Videonauth

@Videonauth fragen: Deutschers, Deutschern oder Deutscheren?
PST = Pacific Standard Time.
well just use english lol, they sound all three terribly wrong :)
Although technically we are observing PDT - Pacific Daylight Time :D
Well, how do you say Germans then? ;p
@NathanOsman stahp pls
01:45
The Germans == Die Deutschen
ohh
So viele Deutschen
then it would be So viele Deutsche
thats one common problem even hardcore translation programms struggle with
why is it that?
dat makey no senz
our grammar is partially completely turned around as the english one, then we have much more cases
I really need to actually learn German

@Videonauth yeppers. no problem.
hello all :)
hi @aking :P
03:37
waiting for the new release ....
16.04 Lubuntu sticking with GTK2 based instead of trying to squeeze in LXQT made me sad.
running minimal now?
Xubu now. I leapfrog LTS releases and add ppas.
QT seems fast but plasma 5x on kubuntu is terrible...at least for me :3
Eh. I'm not a Kubuntu guy. I liked Qt at the core and a minimalist desktop in the same tasty package.
03:43
@PrasadRD the new release should be online
@Videonauth probably an "i haz slow internetz" complaint
kubuntu wasn't my Favorited... but after ubuntu switched from gnome to unity and unity started to lag I made the switch...it was not that bad atm...
released? o.O
yeah seeing the whole morning already the "i haz problems questions"
on a happier note

Direct easy directions for turning a basic cli only install into pure lxqt on top of 16.04. So, I'm happy. Might be time for a backup and burndown.

missing it :(
^^ yep
plasma 5 is very bad on kubuntu :(
someone said it's good on arch...plasma 5.6.2 with framerwork 5.21 is stable. but can't abandon kubuntu
I agree with that. Plasma has continued to get better in the newer versions.
04:13
need to check 16.04 however :)

05:01
do u guys know the exact ubuntu 16.04 release timing?
Holy, such a rude post i not have seen yet here ...
hello muru
@AvinashRaj it should be released already
@Videonauth I'm not talking about beta release.
It varies. My memory for past releases is that it's generally on the main site by about noon or 1 pm new york time. And may take a little longer to hit the mirrors.
me neither
I remember it being about 9am PST last time an LTS was released.
05:07
then that agrees with my memory of noon eastern time
Ah here we go:
Apr 17 '14 at 15:58, by Minato Namikaze
It's released
Wow, everyone's memory is working great tonight.
(15:58 UTC == 11:58am EST)
for me 9:30PM IST
@Videonauth It's been flagged already.
I doubt it will last more than a couple minutes longer.

@cl-netbox nice! Do you know how I can upgrade from Trusty without waiting for a patch release?
Hmm
When I set update-manager setting "Any version" it says 15.10 is the newest, which, FYI, is not true.
Or should I update from 15.10 to 16.04?
No,wait a second. Now it says "14.10"
Now it says "15.10 again.... What?

I find myself in a perennial state of confusion as people turn feral around release time. The official release will be out when it's out (when it's announced). You can upgrade whenever you like if you're happy forcing it... Which you probably are if it matters that much. If it doesn't matter, ignore it for a week and upgrade when it prompts you.

doing do-release-upgrade -d on Ubuntu Mate, upgrades to Xenial!
11:52
Ubuntu 14.04, running sudo update-manager -d let's me download and install 16.04, but it's a development release.
12:07
simply do do-release-upgrade -cthis will check if the actual release is open if yes tun the command without any parameter.
the -cd parameter checks for developtment releases and -d installs developtment releases
the -s option is de facto useless and obsolete, because ok you download all in an aufs sandbox, but since you only could really test the downloaded release by rebooting, wich in fact deletes the sandbox
12:28
Ubuntu 16.04 released.
Probably gonna fresh install. Just gotta find all the bajillion customizations I set up over the past 2-3 releases :P
@RPiAwesomeness Copy your /home/USER folder. Then after fresh install, install all the apps you use, and copy everything back! :D
But then I've still got a bunch of crud left over :/

How do I enable exifimagetype on CentOS?
j0h
j0h
@blade19899 check your php.ini file for exif
@j0h I did:
> ;extension=php_exif.dll ; Must be after mbstring as it depends on it
wherer is the .so version?
Or can I rename the .dll to .so, and it will work?
@blade19899 just try it :) what can go wrong ? if it not works change it back
or run a find / -name "php_exif.so" to find the path
j0h
j0h
13:19
I think exif_imagetype is exif.imagetype and imagetype is a member of the exif class.
So have a look at this page
http://php.net/manual/en/exif.setup.php
@Videonauth Its a production server, with allot of users: "just try it :) what can go wrong" - is not an option for me
ah ok :)
Close this as a duplicate of this
@j0h I was reading that. Not really helpfull
i put ma last flag for today in it already @ThomasW.

no? will you try recompiling php with exif flag --enable-exif
alternatively, pick someother means to check the image type.
Anyone know how to get around Amazon Web Service's $1 activation on your credit card?
@Daniel There is none
i don't think it sticks
it's hit and then been removed in the past on my account
But it will still hit the account. i.e., I can't use my currently-empty card.
correct
and i wouldn't be using gift card visas or anything like that

is the module mpm_prefork needed on apache2 ubuntu basic configuration?
@Videonauth it is the default MPM
You need it if you use the Apache PHP module
because i have tonns of error logs and even a clean log is filled with tons of errors upon restar
You need some MPM. And for most configs, prefork works fine. Look elsewhere for the source of your problems.

Q: How to tag questions for Ubuntu Userspace in Windows?

souravcThere can be various questions related to Bash Shell on Windows 10. For example bash, command-line, installation of a package etc. We can barely categorize many of them into our existing tags. I came across this question where is the Ubuntu file system root directory in Windows 10 subsystem? It...

16.04 still isn't on the main site
@AskUbuntuMeta i'ld tag them as #ireallylikehimbutitscomplicated just for fun. although, that's a REALLY bad thing to tag those questions with.

That's not the main site

@Oli btw, I was referring to the feral people, not you. See the comment star.
A a program I'm working on
@RPiAwesomeness use WTFPL --> see here wtfpl.net
grins
I like the requirement of GPLA that the source has to be open if distributed no matter what, but I see MIT a lot
@Videonauth >.< I'd rather not thank you very much
Oli
Oli
AGPL can be sticky. Many won't touch it because of what it does to server-side stuff. What is your project?
It's a todo & timing app similar to Omnifocus
Linux doesn't have any really good ones, so I figured why not.
I get a product I want and help out the Linux user system (maybe) and also it'll help me learn C++/Qt
All of the other work I've done before this has been server-y stuff, Python mainly, so I've stuck with GPLA over straight GPL because it's server-side
15:55
@RPiAwesomeness MIT.
Or Apache.
Oli
Oli
AGPL really only seems to be more useful than GPL for services where your users aren't actually directly running the application, they're accessing it through a webserver that's running it. If that applies that might be an option but it'll [probably] stop anybody touching it for commercial purposes.
@Videonauth as much as I like that license, it won't hold in a court of law.
and you will be liable for damages.
@Oli Ah
Well, then, GPLv3 vs MIT
