Sometimes when I install new software it tells me that I am getting an upgrade for some of the dependencies from wily-updates, however when I then go and look at the changelog for that package which apparently just got upgraded, there doesn't seem to be anything there that wouldn't have been installed... So this confuses me, is there a way of releasing an update but then not upgrading the software on the users' computers unless the upgrade is required?

@HeatherBrown Nope it doesn't work; removing Xorg (sudo apt-get purge xorg && sudo apt-get --purge autoremove) removes ubuntu-desktop, but leaves all the GNOME packages etc, and there's no way to remove them other then by removing them manually so I guess that's a no deal.
