Ok, what I said was "You can't define a cake by a slice", and what I meant was that I have a belief which is sort of broader than rebirth, though rebirth would fit into it. Rebirth is very specific, and what I believe in could be thought of as that and not at the same time. So my whole belief is the cake, and the rebirth stuff fits into it as a slice, but you can't define the whole as just the slice. feel bad about the bounty, but the answer given about the udev approach is definitely decent

though the simple "Let the kernel manage it directly, 'cause NetworkManager won't manage it then!" approach worked better and was a LOT easier to implement

The login screen on Ubuntu fails to go into full screen or to fill window. However, when logging-in to user accounts, the screen does go full. I have already installed Guest Additions correctly and i use the Auto-resize Guest Display as shown at the image below. That is maybe happening because...

Hold on a second though, I just saw you're running on a Windows host. That makes it off-topic, unless you're happy with a fixed resolution.

I.e. fixed resolution -> set the console resolution on Ubuntu (but then it's a duplicate), adaptive resolution -> do something in Windows (but that's off-topic)

I'm afraid 99% yes. The adaptive resolution 99% is managed by VirtualBox, I can't see how that could depend from the guest.

Try sudo apt-get install dkms build-essential linux-headers-generic -y and then restart your VM and then install Guest Additions again and then restart. It should work fine after that. – Alex 2 mins ago
