@GeoMint I don't have the VM on this computer, but what'd be the point of that? Just ask a mod to move it to SU. Pretending you're on Ubuntu may just waste people's time and you could even end up not getting a working solution.

VirtualBox itself handles interaction with the Guest Additions

if the guest additions are installed

and VirtualBox detects that but still fails variable desktop size...

that's a VirtualBox issues

It looked off-topic because reasonably thinking the best bet, having installed the guest additions already, was an issue with VirtualBox (which runs on Windows). I doubt you can change that without lying
