I usually look at the physical chips - most of the time the sticker has all the info you need, if not look up the pin configuration and writing on the chips, # of chips ect...

chips on both sides or not might be important in some edge cases(mostly older computers...)

@Fabby Are you sure? I'm seeing the updates for Opera (installed by .deb and GDebi) but not the actual install. In fact, the update is six days after the date on the original .deb and I know I installed it within seconds of downloading it.

So if a program has never updated - it may not be listed in there if installed by GDebi.
