@Tim That's what I do to start applications too, the problem is when you have 10 applications opened and you want to switch between them. Personally (but it might be personal) I prefer just directly clicking over what I'm after than switching between them using a keystroke
@Terrance Yep, in the end GNOME is probably the most estetically pleasing I've tried (I also liked Cinnamon). One thing I've seen only in Unity is the workspace disposition, which I kinda like
@kos Yeah, Cinnamon is also good! I do like the looks of that one as well. I haven't used Unity for so long that I can't remember what the workspace disposition even looks like. =)
alright.. I patched the bug but somehow I ended up with an old source tree so that didn't work out.. No go until tomorrow when I can talk to a maintainer and figure out what happened.
@Tim I talked with someone briefly yesterday. He wasn't sure but didn't think users can see that info (I believe there is a relevant MSE post, let me find it.) He also pointed at this for the ban ratios: meta.stackexchange.com/questions/173878/…
It's >=25%. At 45% (like you're stating) it starts becoming a big problem. Of course, if you only cast 9 flags in 7 days then it becomes much easier to get banned.
It would be nice if I knew the time I'm banned for - a range of tomorrow - 7 days isn't a very narrow time frame.
Could we be able to see the same "time remaining" than mods can on our flagged page (i.e. can this be made public or user viewable)?
There are some mags of Ubuntu at ubuntu-user.com/Magazine, If you bought them, please help me can see them. I could not buy the mags because my country have not paypal.
@NathanOsman If you're looking for PRs consider taking a look at Unity Tweak Tool's bugs on launchpad. They prefer PRs on Github, but use LP for bug tracking. All python+GTK.
Using latest Ubuntu LTS and Citrix Receiver icaclient 13.2.1.328635
Citrix will periodically crash and there is no way for me to force the app closed. I've setup key shortcuts to the kill command, but they aren't responding. I can't alt-tab to anything else, the Citrix app is completely blockin...
@NathanOsman np. Sorry I kinda went overboard, but I got my 4 (5 actually) and since you were looking for PRs thought maybe you could find something in the things I had looked at.
you were asking how hard it was.. I just removed 1 line xD
np Nathan. I hope it was at least some help :)
if you're interested in fixing some bugs kos the papercuts team (launchpad.net/hundredpapercuts) is a good place to start. (this bug was actually classified as a papercut). I'll probably be joining that team shortly.
I have 2 users on my ubuntu system, User1 and User2.
I have a directory(folder) in User1 as /home/User1/Software and i want to set this Software folder as home directory of User2 so that whenever user2 logins he can see only Software folder that too only with read access to it.

I am migrating a website to a server that is running Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS, the website is managed through git and built using Jekyll. Jekyll is installed as ruby gem and unfortunately the server does not have ruby installed.
I attempted to install ruby to my user folder (I am not a sudoer)

@RPiAwesomeness and @hbdgaf - can you both please yell at me? I just did the opposite of what I was suggesting last night (using a separate branch for pull requests). It wasn't on purpose - I had every intention of creating a branch - but I somehow forgot and ended up submitting a pull request against master. I'm very embarrassed about this :P
If I'm lucky, the original owner will merge and I can just pull from his master and pretend nothing happened :)
Otherwise, I may have created a small mess to clean up.
I have a ubuntu server that I access locally through ssh, but I need to configure it to be able to access it through ssh from the internet. I connected eth1 to the internet and configured the interfaces file. I'm just lost trying to understand the concept of vpn and I followed several tutorials, ...
I love a good old game of breakout! Like I like kbreakout (though I prefer older styles of the game). So I was wondering if there was a command-line version of the game as I rather dislike GUIs? I am running Ubuntu GNOME 15.10 with GNOME 3.18.
@ParanoidPanda close vote says "not about ubuntu" ... maybe also what research have you actually conducted? e.g. have you looked in the software center - what results have you found. Kind of a random type question.
@NathanOsman I was trying to put app indicators in place of system-tray on the Camcastic-desktop program hbdgaf an I were doing a while back github.com/mateosalta/CamCastic-Desktop
@Ravan - you've passed dozens of audits since your last ban. So yes - very puzzling why your audit ban has increased from 2d to 7d. Can I suggest you ask this on meta.stackexchange.com i.e. "why does my audit ban increase despite passing dozens of audits since my last failure?"
@Ravan - shame that the Q was closed. Nothing I can do about it. I've unbanned you anyway. Thanks for all of your good work. Shame the system is a little shaky in this area.
not much you can do - you've commented but if the Meta Stack Exchange Mod doesnt agree - we cant do anything. You can cast a reopen vote if that is available to you.
