Maybe a community ad would fix that.
user136984
Don't they get told that they can do it once they reach 20 rep?
It's been an awful long time since I had that much rep.
@Fabby How much do you know about Docker? Can you troubleshoot an error like the one I'll paste below from a CircleCI test output?
In fact, chat didn't exist when I had that much rep, so I couldn't tell you.
  1) Docker #findContainers() finds containers:
         Uncaught Error: connect ENOENT /var/run/docker.sock
          at Object.exports._errnoException (util.js:874:11)
          at exports._exceptionWithHostPort (util.js:897:20)
          at PipeConnectWrap.afterConnect [as oncomplete] (net.js:1063:14)
16:01
I know you get notifications for some privileges, but I'm not sure you get one for every single one, especially the small ones.
user136984
@Nathan: Well, I seem to remember it telling me...
Hi, can someone tell me how exactly mail server's should set up. i think i've confused about the sequence
@ByteCommander that doesn't look like an error from the Docker daemon.
user136984
What was the first question ever asked on this site by the way?
You know something about Docker @NathanOsman? Can you guess what's going on?
16:02
@JanakaRRajapaksha for sending or receiving email?
@NathanOsman both
@ByteCommander I use Docker a lot. Where are you seeing that?
Test output on a private CircleCI repo.

Q: How to get the "Your battery is broken" message to go away?

Nathan OsmanEvery time I turn on my computer, I see a message saying something like: Your battery may be old or broken. I am already aware that my battery is bad. How do I suppress this message?

@NathanOsman when i issue exim -bh ip, it says no ip for hostname. cant i do it without setting an ip for the hostname?
16:03
I can't copy you the whole thing at the moment though until I asked the team leader for permissions to do so. And he just went offline. @NathanOsman
@Tim askubuntu.com/a/689770/367165 Very detailed +1 and perhaps +50 =)
user136984
@Seth: :D :D :D
@JanakaRRajapaksha install the mail-stack-delivery package.
user136984
@Nathan: Wow, you really have been here a long time! :D
@JanakaRRajapaksha oh, you're using Exim.
16:04
@NathanOsman no, i need exim and courier.
yes
I've never used Exim.
lol, what's up with that deleted answer on your question @Nathan? Was that some kind of test or a troll?
I think it was a test.
Back when I was a moderator pro tem.
ah.
@ParanoidPanda because the chat button is hidden away... Someone needed to point it out to me before I found it!
16:06
@ByteCommander what's about your job interview?
thats ok, can i know about few things? it is about some configuration, so it is common for any package i think.
i am at the final step i believe.
cant i run mail servers wihout adding an A record for the hostname?
@NathanOsman you're getting old! ;-)
@NathanOsman how old?
Me or my account?
@ByteCommander Sorry, no clue... :(
16:07
@NathanOsman Your avatar says 25
Yup, that's correct.
25?
Indeed.
ah, figured it out - some of the older scopes code to check exactly for g++ version 4.9 instead of greater than 4.9 - if anyone else has problems with that copy that specific block from a newer scope and delete builds and cmake.user file and rebuild
user136984
@Fabby: Do you think that they should make the chat button more obvious then?
16:09
if it needs an A record for the host name, then why i add mail.domain.com as an mx record? please can someone explain>
yay, for upgrades breaking things ;)
@Fabby @ParanoidPanda If one of you wants to create a community ad for chat I think it's a good idea.
maybe I'll do a self answer question on that
I am really on internet or some local server by law agency
user136984
@Seth How do you create a community ad exactly?
16:11
@Fabby ping
@ParanoidPanda hello torrodial
@565656 it is all on servers, the cloud is on the ground ;p
unless momentarily transfered to satellite?
where's my cloud meme...
everything is coming under the sea nothing is coming from satellite
I should totally get George to post that every time someone says "the cloud".
the cloud
16:15
george isn't here right now :)
What is the release name for Ubuntu 16.04
Xenial Xerus if I remember correctly.

Gotta run now. See you all later.

@Fabby What are the punishments of Cyber cases in India
@Seth Do you have a template somewhere?
@565656 pong! :)
@Fabby Do you Know ?
16:32
@565656 IANAL (and definitely not an Indian lawyer)
;-)
(which means: I have no clue)
@Fabby Already searched no need for Link :)
Back when I was a kid, the only thing they could accuse you of was "theft of electricity"
@Fabby Yep, same here. For me, that pointer were you! ;)
@Fabby And now
@ByteCommander O_o I don't even remember that one!
16:36
@Fabby I first had problems because my Firefox had HTML5-Storage (or something similar?) disabled and it did not accept my login. Remember now?
vaguely...
>:-)
Oh, You got the auchatstatus-script now too! Nice.
@ByteCommander I was like the third one...
o.O I haven't noticed that you have it until today...
@Fabby I wish :/
16:40
@A.B. Was fine. I'm basically waiting for their reply when I may start. (At least I think/hope so.)

Q: Community Promotion Ads - 2015

Grace NoteThe dawn of a new year, 2015, now approaches, or has already approached, either way it means that it is now time to reset our Community Promotion Ads! What are Community Promotion Ads? Community Promotion Ads are community-vetted advertisements that will show up on the main site, in the right s...

@Fabby @Mateo probably knows more about making ads than I do (there's a reason I'm not just doing it myself :P)
That's great =)
@Seth reading and asking @Mateo's help if needed!

A: After updating to 15.10, my scopes projects fail to build. "error: g++ version must be 4.9!"

MateoTo solve this you need change the code in CMakeLists.txt line 8-14 to: # We require at least g++ 4.9, to avoid ABI breakage with earlier versions. set(cxx_version_required 4.9) if (CMAKE_COMPILER_IS_GNUCXX) if (CMAKE_CXX_COMPILER_VERSION VERSION_LESS ${cxx_version_required}) message(...

@Mateo cool =)
16:43
@Seth I need to remake the phone one...
weird, I was just logged out across the network.
@Seth Happened to me once too: next thing I knew was "Can we get the keys to the company car back?"
;-)
(probably a cookie expire error)
oh that's possible.
I forget that some sites actually do expire their cookies these days.
There! A quick and dirty community ad for chat!
has to be a certain size @Fabby
16:55
@Mateo do you have the parameters somewhere?
Ah! found it!
@Fabby That's a start, but I think it really needs some explanation words.
hmm
@terdon Hi
I'm so terrible at anything graphics :P
er, allready got a comment about someone not understanding that you can run scopes in the scope tool, then build separately for the phone...
someone ping me please
17:01
hiya @Seth
@Seth ping!
thanks
I should star that, but I'm not going to! ;-)
Just in case you guys didn't notice: popcorntime.io is dead.
Building Butter as we speak!
17:16
ok, I'm just going to not argue with him... when there are two separate builds
I've hated Windows for a while now, but I really hate Windows 10.
@Mateo How may I be of service? :)
@Mateo yeah, there's no reasoning with dobey.
and I'm most certainly running unity-7 on my desktop ;)
then later building for unity-8 on the phone
@Fabby nice
@Mateo quick and dirty!
@Seth: done!
17:20
it works :)
@Mateo ugly is more the correct description,
but it'll do!
Now, smoke!
@Fabby much better! (already upvoted)

Q: How long will I be flag banned for?

TimI'm flag banned at the moment (I had 4 declined in the last 7 days. That seems a little harsh, but that's not the topic of this discussion). There is no indication of any way to get out of this ban, how long it will last for etc. Is there anything I can do - and is there any time I can expect...

hungry ... need to venture out for food
18:17
@Ravan You can use GNOME 3.18 only in Ubuntu 15.10 and higher
@cl-netbox thx =)
@Seth Looks like too much work. ;-)
@Seth sounds worth a few posts that I can delete later ;)

@Tim: sit back, relax is the only advice I can give you...
Or as I always say about myself: "I'm extremely good at doing nothing at all!"
@Seth how was the Linux event?
@NathanOsman :D
@NathanOsman it was good. small, but good.
@Seth What do you call "small"? 10, 100, 1000?
@Fabby <300.
19:20
That would be large around here!
;-)
hehe. There's a bigger one in April 3 hours away.

Tim
@Fabby yes you're right ☺
@Seth i can't see the link because mobile app - does it say it somewhere on the page?
@Fabby I am able to sign in my Google account from my computer but when i try to log in through android phone it says your user name and password not matches it means?
19:35
@intex It means you typed an error or you used non-standard characters...
E.G. £ could be a different character on your computer then on your Android phone
@intex You've got 2 user names?
19:54
@Tim it does for me, int he column on the right at the bottom of your flagging stats.
It should for you too.
@Fabby no I am not able to log in google from phone
Means gmail and playstore

Q: How can I recieve SMS texts with the mail command?

cosmoflop12I have figured out how to send sms messages with mail; the same way I would with regular email, by sending my message to phonenumber@SMSgate. This works great. I've also entered "linux" in /etc/mailname, so the texts come from user@linux. This may be done incorrectly, or not how it should be done...

21:02
@Tim ah, yeah. spam flags are usually serious - that one was just badly formated - and basically stop using the "very low quality" flag altogether most of the mods decline them outright
rare circumstance that they apply
also there is debate about flagging link only answers as "not an answer" so avoid that too
Tim
Tim
@Mateo Oh. Hmm
okay, so are link only VLQ?
I would just downvote them...
that would probally get denied, don't use vlq in general
Tim
Tim
hu okay
hmmm
thanks
I flagged this as low quality - the user didn't even see that the asker was talking about the phone - askubuntu.com/questions/262802/sip-client-in-ubuntu-touch/… was denied...
@Tim Wow does seem a bit hash
21:10
no idea how he managed a bounty on that...
@Mateo Voted to delete
@Mateo automatic after the OP received no answer...
Tim
Tim
@Fabby why can I not vote to delete?
is that because of flag banning?
Like this one @Mateo
@Tim looking at your stats...
@Tim Did you do low quality queue review?
and pressed delete there?
@Tim You're 10Krep: no delete votes yet!
that's a 20K rep privilege
:P @Tim
then it is also funny trying to click on denied flags for stuff that got deleted anyway... mod may have declined it but the community agreed :/
@Tim Or do you mean in the LQ review queue.
@Mateo Mods are only human...
Remember that in the next election: better to have a Vorlon then a mere human!
(No, not interested: I feel for the mods)
21:16
Vote Chithulu - why vote for the lesser evil!
lots of work, no rep change!
@Fabby free t-shirt ;)
@KGIII Chitulu is the little kid of Chtulu???
Tim
Tim
@Fabby ahh thought it was same as view deleted posts. I think it is on beta sites...
Yes... If I could spell.
21:17
@Tim Ah! Rep is per site...
like Terdon is small fry here, but large on U&L
Tim
Tim
@Fabby yeah no i mean on beta it is the same rep level: lifehacks.stackexchange.com/help/privileges/moderator-tools
flagged it for some reason, now it's gone

@Mateo fµçk google is profane
got edited out later...
@Tim yeah, on BETA!
Tim
Tim
@Fabby yeh i assumed they were both 10k here :P
@Tim 10k = view deleted posts
20K = delete...
@Fabby yeah, funny how those still end up on the records as declined...
(I don't have that privilege for long, so I remember! :D)
@Mateo Errare humanum est!
;-)
action was taken - thus my original assessment of the situation was true
oh well
@Tim thanks for making me look at my flags ;p
Tim
Tim
21:24
:)
@Tim huh, and clicking "flags declined in the last x days" doesn't help?
I'll see if I can ask an SE employee.
huh
(I can answer any questions about those declines too if they aren't clear to you)
oh, must have been several in a row during a time period then for the trigger
I probably won't get an answer from SE today since it is the weekend @Tim
If you want to brave the sharks on MSE you can ask there.
21:33
sharks with lasers ;)
Tim
Tim
@Seth The first one - is @Mateo right about link only not being NAQ (or even VLQ?)
I may ask on Meta tomorrow
I'm just saying there is too much gray area surrounding those that when you ask the questions "Where do I download ubuntu" the best and most direct/concise answer is simply - ubuntu.com/download just a link
so NAA should be used for most link only answers, although VLQ is usually passable (VLQ is for stuff so bad it just needs to be deleted, no hope for it, which kinda applies). The general rule of thumb for link onlys is if you remove the link and just leave the text, does it still mean anything? It still suggested reainstalling grub or using OSX repair without the link so it was an answer just not a good one.
@Mateo yeah, there are times links make answers.
Tim
Tim
so is the comment still appropriate?
21:44
so I use NAA for when someone asks a question, or adds info instead of editing, or does a comment like "why you no use chrome", vlq is for stuff like "bananas would totally solve this problem" what is bananas? is it a command maybe, the fruit? capitalizing and a period could make it better formated but won't save it.
so a "quality" completely wrong answer - downvote
link only - or like your llink with minor info (can technically still be a "answer") - downvote
so maybe not what is setup as what is supposed to be, but once you see some flagging history patterns it starts to make sense
@Tim yeah
:) 7.04

Tim
Tim
@Zacharee1 yeah because this is all cs-by-sa 3.0 with attribution it's copyright i think so
i've told the SE team
22:50
Oh good
@Tim the thing that bothers me about copycat sites in general is that too often they're more concerned about the ads than making the site nice, so the experience isn't as good. Seems like there should be an opportunity there for people willing to put in some actual time into doing a good job
@Chan-HoSuh well then they'd put in the effort to actually make their own site
@Zacharee1 perhaps. I'd say that would be much greater effort though. It takes time also to gather that much content.
Tim
Tim
@Chan-HoSuh yeah - i like seeing sites copying with attribution - that gets the info i've given to more people. But they should at least acknowledge that I made the post.
