@Fabby I am planning to wash the fam. of 4 who did a FedEx booking
@Fabby Need to clean this mess on this road
hmm, apparently there is a bug with the Windows Time Server
just noticed because I finally set up the dual boot between Ubuntu and Windows
@565656 You've lost me there...
@Chan-HoSuh no, you need to set both to use the same BIOS time
Y no awkable questions today ?
GMT or local time
@Fabby that's what some guides, said, but by changing my time server to NIST, it fixed the issue
Tim
Tim
18:07
Hmm @Fabby what would be the symptoms of a dead comos battery?
(so you have to change Windows or Ubuntu and then change your BIOS)
@Tim CMOS?
Tim
Tim
@Fabby that
that it loses all your BIOS settings...
Tim
Tim
@Fabby okay that's not the problem them
Okay what would cause my time to drift?
@NathanOsman I actually had a nifty idea for George:
18:09
Oh?
@Tim bad clock crystal...
@NathanOsman @GeorgetheDev my current location is out
Tim
Tim
I'm off by 5 seconds and i only set it a week ago
then whenever anybody asks GeorgetheDev "Where is Fabby?" @NathanOsman
@Tim I set it at every reboot and once every 24 hours...
5 seconds is a lot for a week's worth of drift
George could respond ...
and when you wish him good night...
he can automatically set the current location to "sleeping"
until you wish him a good morning!
Tim
Tim
18:11
@Fabby with cron?
as of now they are 3
Great =)
@Fabby Clever.
@Tim yup.
That's not a bad idea.
18:12
4th is expecting
@NathanOsman please: implement after the excuse generator (lower priority then that one) :P
But still nifty...
Okay :)
:D
@Tim But I agree with @Chan-HoSuh that 5 secs/week is a lot.
bad clock crystal....
Too bad you've got one of those computer that don't alow you to get out the soldering iron...
@NathanOsman maybe that idea might change oli's mind...
Then he can tell George that he's "on holiday" so we don't have to worry where he is
I think it would be cool if an excuse was his response to a question he didn't understand.
@NathanOsman :D :D :D
yeah, from the "general" category!
Tim
Tim
18:16
hmm im scared of cron tbh
@NathanOsman how about quoting fortune command ?
@Tim editing cron can be a bit scary due to misformatting that is hard to pick up visually, eg encoding or blank lines at the end
There is a GUI nowadays... Unless you want to deploy to multiple machines (Tim's not as rich as you) gnome-schedule will do... @Chan-HoSuh
:P >:-)
Recursive fibonacci sequence makes 1,478,050,707 calls of the function to compute fibonacci numbers from 0 to 50

Oh god... Someone's started emailing me hentai... And my bloody spam filtering system doesn't work! >:{
Panda, did you pissoff somebody at 4chan ?
I run my own spam filter.
@ParanoidPanda Don't surf for Pr0n!
Otherwise you'll end up on a Hentai mailing list!
:D
user136984
@Serg: What's 4chan?
Let's leave it at that.
18:34
@ParanoidPanda The guys that formed this
for more information: lmgtfy.com/?q=4chan
user136984
Anyway, it's not because I've been looking at porn (and I haven't), it's because there is a ducky guy out there who likes making hentai and has been banned from here so he's had to find another way of getting to me...
@ParanoidPanda in short 4chan is imageboard website, kinda like a chat, where people congregate and discuss sh$t. At some point they got fed up with scientology and created the Anonymous movement, then its gotten stronger. . . . The /b/ board is very NSFW
@Serg just use stuff that at least looks like the letter you want to type... like $h|t
user136984
I really don't know what it wrong with my email filter though!
@Fabby You are talking to a guy who hasn't slept within 24 hours - i brain straight not
18:38
@Serg You're basically Fùçk€d...
>:-)
When does your shift finish? @Serg
@Serg it's interesting to compare your result to the theoretical number of calls it should be making
In about 4.5 hours @Fabby
user136984
@NathanOsman: You run a spam filter?
I run my own mail server.
@ParanoidPanda he runs his own everything!
What did you expect from someone programming an AI?
>:-)
18:39
@Chan-HoSuh Um . . . I don't have theoretical results . . . I only will have at some point my prof's results. Also we're supposed to optimize the java method with array (aka lookup table)
BRB
Tim
Tim
@Fabby how long have you smoked for?
@Serg you can count them .... should get that number of calls to compute F(n) = 2 * F(n) - 1
if it's less than that, which appears to be the case here, there is some memoization by the JVM
@Chan-HoSuh where do you get that formula ? If I include that, at least I should cite it somehow
OK, lunch time
user136984
@Nathan: Where do you get the addresses from that you blacklist?
18:43
@Serg it should be a short proof by induction (found one online here: stackoverflow.com/questions/1738923/…)
user136984
Ooh! Looks like I'm not the only one that guy has been spamming!
user136984
He's on some sort of IBM DNS blacklist...
user136984
What does that mean? How do you get on one of those?
By sending a ton of spam.
@ParanoidPanda I know of two ways you can get on a DNS blacklist: 1) have an affair with the blacklist maintainer's SO 2) be a spammer
user136984
18:46
:D
user136984
I think for this it will be the second option... :D
@Chan-HoSuh :D :D :D
@Tim Since I started uni...
Why?
Tim
Tim
hmm just wondered I guess @Fabby
PSA: If I start acting more erratically then usual, blame it on the Bacardi Oakheart...
@Tim Oh and a tip from my grandfather:
If you don't smoke, drink or chase women, you won't live any longer.... It'll just seem longer...
Tim
Tim
i do none of said things :P
18:52
@Tim :-) You've got your age as an excuse, but if you still say the same thing in a few years time,
you've got to reconsider your priorities!
:P >:-)
Tim
Tim
hmm maybe... My girlfriend won't let me smoke and i have a gf so no chasing girls... idk about drinking. i personally don't in public as a general rule.
Life is full of opportunity to take big risks, which are compensated by big payoffs. There's no need to take unnecessary ones, especially those without the requisite payoffs. Just my opinion.
user136984
@Nathan: Well, I don't think that the owner of the website sending me the ton spam will be very happy about it because he's not actually the guy sending me the spam, that's the maintainer of the site... The owner is just using it to promote his books I think, so probably it getting blacklisted isn't that good for business...
user136984
Ah well, I'll just carry on battling with my spam filter! :D
@ParanoidPanda I suppose you could inform the owner.
18:54
@Tim Ah! So you are chasing women if you've got a GF!
(and she's right: stay off the smokes!)
The main problem I have with drinking is the calories.
@Chan-HoSuh 2 out of 3 ain't bad...
;-)
@Chan-HoSuh yeah, empty calories...
user136984
@Nathan: I could, but knowing him he would prefer to believe the maintainer as they are direct blood relatives, and I am just someone spoken of badly in their household... :D
hmmm, so now the "in" thing with GUIs seem to be to make them 2D-ish, not 3D-ish. But it makes it hard to tell sometimes what's part of the current window, if you have overlapping windows.
user136984
But I guess it's worth a shot.
19:00
@Chan-HoSuh yeah...
That's why we did away with flat in the first place!
(back in Windows 3.0 times)
@Chan-HoSuh This tweet sums up my latest rant: twitter.com/nathanosman_dev/status/657371838410985472
in particular, the thought arose while trying to grab the iTunes window ... Apple likes to put stuff near the edges of the window also
@NathanOsman nice rant :)
@NathanOsman :D
user136984
Cool! This art is made of microbes!
user136984
Tim
Tim
19:03
@Chan-HoSuh yeah flat is in now...
user136984
And this is also a great song!
user136984
@Tim You don't like it neither?
Tim
Tim
@Fabby I like flat on my phone... I like it for icons. I don't like it for windows that should be layered. Are the documents on my desk flat? No.

When I showed my desktop to RPiAwesomeness he thought the SteamPunk was ugly...
19:06
@Tim exactly
Goodbye - see you ... :)
@cl-netbox Good night
19:31
Good night all!
@Fabby sleep well , my extraterrestrial friend

Anyone care to walk through what feels like a hack-solution to a problem I have with respect to remastering the Ubuntu CDROM?
I need to create an unattended install for a data center based on 14.04.03... and I want to script the CD Remastering process.
Part of it involves copying the CD ISO to a directory, making changes, and then re-building the ISO.
To make things self-contained, and to reduce the work I need to do as root, I do the following:
# create a 1 gigabyte raw space to mount
dd if=/dev/zero of="$rawspace" bs=1024k count=1024         || failed "Unable to create a raw partition"
mkfs.ext2 -F "$rawspace" || failed "Unable to format raw space"
sudo mount -o loop,rw "$rawspace" "$workdir"               || failed "Unable to mount workspace"
[ -d "$workdir/lost+found" ]                               || failed "Unable to create a file system on $workdir"
I can thus "mess up" in that loop-mounted location, all the files in there can be owned by "root" an other users, and I can then just unmount, and delete a single file to clean up.
Any suggestions on how to avoid the need for sudo?
Good night @Fabby
And also @cl-netbox, good night :)
user136984
20:05
Goodnight! :)
@ParanoidPanda you too?
20:27
FWIW, Kubuntu still is leading the way with the 15.10 64 bit seed percentage. It's at a ratio of 2.8.
There's lots of drama going on there.

Q: Error while compiling "5.9. Binutils-2.25 - Pass 2 "

ppleponWhen I try to build binutils, I get the following error make[1]: *** [configure-bfd] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/mnt/lfs/sources/binutils-build' make: *** [all] Error 2 Here is the full verbose of the build: lfs@Bee-HD:/mnt/lfs/sources/binutils-build$ make make[1]: Enter...

Yeah, I think that may have something to do with it.

Maybe I can get it on Chrome's phishing blacklist.

Oops. I accidentally flagged it.
Ignore the flags folks.

about an hour left and then im going home to bed

Wow. There are a lot of forum thread hijackers who have moved operations to AU today.
It's something I never got about people. It's almost easier to just make a new thread (on a forum) than ask an unrelated question about sort of the same service/app.
On forums, I usually just post this and walk away...
I think I'll use that.
This guy keeps adding SOLVED to his title and poor @A.B. has been re-editing it.
@Zacharee1 A @mods needs to look at that.
Flag it?
You can, but they'll see it either way.
22:33
OK
It seems that the poster has given up editing the title
Give them the benefit of the doubt. They just might not understand how the system works yet.
the percentage of dumba$$es somehow has increased recently . . . . that's all i have to say

@Serg I don't disagree.
@hbdgaf what's your favorite questions on AU by the way ? Everyone kind of has their speciality around here.
I don't like a particular tech. I like unsolvable or probably won't be answered but need an answer questions.
22:44
For the most part I do scripting ones or simple questions related to grub . . . I'd need to pick up apt-get or wireless, but so far I haven't had much success with those
Adding ppas questions need help. For a while, I adopted eclipse questions.
Most of the eclipse questions were plugins not working because of dependencies not installed and no troubleshooting from the user end.
I've not used eclipse that much but compared to netbeans , i tend to like eclipse more
23:40
Gah... I have to find a dark Stylish theme for AskUbuntu that doesn't break everything. These garish colors blind me.
Orannnnnge... ooooooooo @KGIII
That's evil.
Which means, I like your style. nods

I also got that guy's update-grub squared away, thanks.
