I had another one about JS but cant find it anymore

From Ubuntu Mate website. They are allowed to put Ask Ubuntu in there right?
@fossfreedom Squirrel? o.O
11:43
"xerus" ... is an african squirrel
@blade19899 what do you mean "put Ask Ubuntu" ... a link to us?
@fossfreedom Ah, I see it on the star wall - but you don't expect an average German teenager who stopped Biology classes two years ago to know the African fauna, do you? ;)
And what does "xenial" mean then?
Hospitable
according to the googles.
11:46
"friendly relations between hosts and guests" according to mark markshuttleworth.com/archives/1479
@fossfreedom Yes, Ubuntu Mate is on topic here, right?
Was there ever a codename with words a non-native does not have to look up? ;)
it's an official flavour
Except Utopic Unicorn maybe, that was the only one clear to me...
11:48
@fossfreedom Then instead, for just the Ubuntu Mate community, link there, they can also post a link to us.

@hg8 yes, it's funny
@ByteCommander add: border-radius: 0px; border: 0px;
And add: border-right: 1px solid #CCCCCC; padding: 2px 3px;
I think that would make it look better.
@fossfreedom can we arrange that though? Ubuntu Mate linking to us that is, for support.

Q: Do flags of users with review privilege count as review?

Byte CommanderI am currently at around 7.8k reputation points, which means I have access to all standard review queues, including the "Low Quality" queue. Now when I see a post that does not meet the site's standards and flag it e.g. as "not an answer" or "very low quality", does that flag only put the post i...

12:14
@ByteCommander I guess not by the way, because flags can be raised by any user, even those not able to access the reviews
I don't think the system distinguishes if the flag was from an user with review queue access or not
@kos But it should do that then, right?
kos
kos
@ByteCommander Well, yes probably
There would be a little overhead but in this case I guess it would be really minor
@ByteCommander No actually thinking about it no, otherwise it'd require less user to "consent" to delete the post in order for the post to be deleted: if someone (without review queue access) would raise a flag, it'd take x people in the queue to delete the post; if you (with review queue access) would raise a flag, it'd take x-1 people in the queue to delete the post

@Ravan that is the problem with rip-offs ;-) you need to ask the maintainer
@kos But if I would raise a flag on a post, I would vote to delete the post if I saw it in the queue as well! That's the purpose of flags.
where will be parental plugin located
Maybe restrict it to the double rep (6k) or so then?
12:57
@Rinzwind where will be parental plugin located

"parental plugin"? what's that?
@fossfreedom sorry ...this
kos
kos
@ByteCommander I see your point, but I think that forbidding access to the review queue is mostly done to prevent new users to abuse them without knowing how the site works, not because they're likely going to fail in their reviews; I also think that the point is letting the same number of people (regardless of the reputation) to review the flag. However again I see your point, but I think it's the number of reviews which really matters, not the reputation of the reviewers
Consider that it's quite similar for reviews done by 2K+ users on the suggested edit review; 2K+ users still cannot send an edit in just by clicking "Approve", it still requires another one or two reviewers (even with less than 2K reputation) to send the edit in

@hg8 hello
@kos how's it going ? Any good scripting answers today ?
@kos Erm, no. If I approve an edit directly from the question and not from the queue, that has the same weight as if I would have entered the review queue, found the edit there and approved it. Not more and not less.

@Serg Pretty fine. I'm repairing a lantern in the afternoon :D. You?

This semester overall is a trainwreck. First got my phone stolen, now 10 weeks into the semester and i just Find out im gonna fail java, and today I'm late for work first time in 10 months of working there
The first one's 'not on topic really' because it's not about Ubuntu. The second one is 'kinda' on topic, but we should be hesitant answering, and should state that following any advice on spoofing the OS could result in the OP getting punished in teh workplace for violating policies at the work place. (Which is my next comment)
13:10
And i cannot drop java cuz ill loose work study
kos
kos
@ByteCommander No, it's the same. Maybe you've always been the third to approve it :D if you're the first or the second it won't get through if you click "Approve", either if you find the edit on the post or if you are reviewing it in the queue

@Serg Have one cup now! And thanks for the idea, I'm getting one either :D

@ByteCommander has the dropbox link worked for you ?
@kos Sure. it has the same weight as a vote from the queue. not more and not less.
@Serg Have downloaded, but not opened yet. You still need my help there? And what was your concern again exactly?
@Serg Her name is "Gurka"!? o.O
Sorry, but that's funny. In German, "Gurke" means "cucumber" xD
Just want to know your general opinion of my code and if her coments are valid
Ugh! I just got remembered of how I hate red teacher handwritings... :P Yuck!
Look at the reviews given..... i should have dropped out as soon as i found out she's gonna be teaching my section
kos
kos
@ByteCommander Ah yes, sorry, I missunderstood your last statement. But that's exactly my point, 2K+ users have no added privilege about being 2K+ when reviewing suggested edits, so should they have whan flagging questions?
13:19
@Serg What does GOOJF mean in the pdf?
Get out of jail free card. Basically one hw you can ask her to drop
@kos No, but raising a LQ flag from the post should have the same weight as voting to delete the same post from the review queue. Just as reviewing an edit from the post has the same weight as reviewing the same post from the queue.
But only before due date
o.O
Anyway, brb in a few minutes.
kos
kos
@ByteCommander I knew we would have get to that :D but raising a flag is just "Hey, something is wrong here! Please review.". It's not the same effort as reviewing, where one sits there and (boringly) checks any post that pops up.
One might argue that reviewers might roboreview and click "No action needed" on everything but 1. Your reviews, differently from flags, are publicly shown on your user profile 2. Regardless of roboreviewers, assuming a review (which per my point #1 is not fair / not the same) for having raised a flag, that still takes one people less to delete the post. Even aside from the light "unfairness" / difference, less people are going to put their eyes on the post.
@Rinzwind you might also want to mention that the ata lines the OP sees are because his motherboard has the ports and don't imply that any disk is actually connected. I think that's what's confusing him.
I'm referring to this .
@kos So what about adding the full LQ review option set to every post?
hmm I thought that was what I meant there :D unclear?

@ByteCommander What do you mean exactly? Reviewing directly by clicking a button under a post?
You did not bother to scroll down the page did you? >:-DDDDDD
@kos For example. Like with edits.
If you want, it could only display the LQ-review menu if already at least one flag has been raised previously.
@Serg Hmm.... I agree with her on your bad indentations, but I don't think that e.g. the "vague variable names" are bad where she marked it, as the context explains the usage. As well, the commenting prologue etc. is IMHO not necessary, but if she requires that and told you so, you have to do it of course. I don't see where the duplicates check is a problem though. have I forgot a thing?
kos
kos
14:07
@ByteCommander I don't know, for sure it wouldn't bother me, it would be nice, but the problem with these feature requests is they require work to be added and they add complexity. This is just my opinion, but unless something is really not working, it could be improved meaningfully or something would be really a major addition, it's probably not really worth to be added; every feature adds complexity, and there's an overhead in doing that.
However again, this is just my very personal opinion. In other words, "If it works fine, it's cool"
@kos What about just adding a link like "this post in LQ review queue" which points to - well - the post in the LQ review queue, if it was already brought there by a flag or the automatic system.
kos
kos
@ByteCommander I though the previous one made more sense :D. I don't know, what you described before it's quite similiar to the current "edit" link under the post, however I suppose that was implemented to not make multiple edits in the queue collide, since everyone (even 1 rep users) have that button. There's no such need for LQ flags.
However In general I'm against changes unless really needed / really useful, so you're probably speaking to the wrong person. If you think it's needed / worth to be added you should post a feature request, my opinion may be wrong on this one.
They Just fined a college kid with a 1000 euro for streaming with Popcorn Time here in the Netherlands.

Movie studios revenues from ticket's sale - calculated in 2012 dollars (3):
2001: 8.13 billion $
2006: 9.25 billion $
2014: 10.36 billion $
2015: 11.02 billion $

Of that haul, $3.59 billion was made internationally, in another sign of the global box office’s importance."
@blade19899 oh and that kid should file a lawsuit against popcorn time. He would win it.
@blade19899 and watch what happens when star wars is out. That is going to be the biggest movie hit by more than 5 times what the previous record was.

When Rightscorp is wrong

Earlier today, Rightscorp, one of the companies that live out of spying on the Internet to "protect the artists", outed a press release (1) quite interesting.

They announce a new service called PTP, short for Popcorn Time Protection. It basically is a data-collection service that watches the Bittorrent network in hope to find illegal activities, extract the IP adresses from the swarm, and then try to match the IP to a real person they can sue (or racketeer for a few hundred bucks).
The entire text of that Article minus the images
@ByteCommander Well, that's the thing, it wasn't obvious she requires prologue on every damn class. Anyhow, I'm either have to choose to drop class and loose workstudy or stick with work study and get bad grade in the class, which will make my GPA go down again; so yeah, fun times
Star that if you will

@Rinzwind so shall I stick with 14.04 ?

@Rinzwind I like how it looks a little bit refined then trusty. Fixing Visual Glitches really helps
@Serg Do you have any problems with 14.04?

@ByteCommander <--- hasn't done any backups yet.
@Rinzwind where do I get the Norway visa , sign me up

@Serg Then there is no reason to stop using 14.04

Xenix is a discontinued version of the Unix operating system for various microcomputer platforms, licensed by Microsoft from AT&T Corporation in the late 1970s. The Santa Cruz Operation (SCO) later acquired exclusive rights to the software, and eventually replaced it by SCO UNIX (now known as SCO OpenServer). In the mid-to-late 1980s, Xenix was the most common Unix variant, measured according to the number of machines on which it was installed. Microsoft chairman Bill Gates said in 1996 that for a long time his firm had the highest-volume AT&T Unix license. == HistoryEdit == Bell Labs, Un...
