Found that today xD
@NathanOsman Has to do with locale IIRC. If you set it to American English it might fix it.
I had the problem a lot for a while too.
01:18
Yeah, but how are you going to set the locale if half the symbol keys don't work? :P
Here's where I am right now:
Oooo...where's that?
That is the Canadian equivalent of your state capitol building.
Here's a closer shot:
Kinda creepy...
01:24
O_o
:)
also o/
I love visiting Canada
the bad thing about that is coming back through US CBP
Despite living about 50 miles from the US border, is been about 10 years since I've been in the US.
I had question, but I'm not sure if it is too "noobish" for the site.
Since Ubuntu 15.10 is switching to Mir instead of X-Windows, does that mean X11 forwarding over SSH will no longer be possible in 15.10?
01:29
@IQAndreas It is? Awesomesauce!
@Chan-HoSuh Never visited Canada, even when I was close to the border. The not knowing if the DUI discretionary turn away would come up kept me from even trying.
Or am I completely mixing up technologies here?
@IQAndreas No, that would be perfectly acceptable IMO on here
@IQAndreas Sounds like a great question, but I don't have the answer.
I can't imagine there won't be an equivalent with Mir, but you would be sign-posting how to do it for people.
@hbdgaf that's very interesting
01:36
@Chan-HoSuh Which one? The Mir thing or the discretionary turn away?
Okay, thanks, I posted the question:
1
Q: Is X11 forwarding over SSH be possible in Ubuntu 15.10?

IQAndreasFrom what I have heard, Ubuntu 15.10 is planned to include Mir instead of X-Windows for the window system [source] (but I have not yet played with the beta releases, so I can't confirm this). Will X11 window forwarding over SSH still be possible in Ubuntu 15.10? Is there "reverse comparability",...

@hbdgaf the latter
@IQAndreas you got an edit and an upvote
@Chan-HoSuh Yeah, I'm a two time loser on that one. I just don't drive now.
@hbdgaf You swooped in and fixed those same things I was working on. When I went to edit it said "dbdgaf already made edits to this question". ;)
I know. You were rapid fire editing right after you posted, but I hammered an edit in.
01:43
@hbdgaf You just don't notice all the mistakes you left in there until right after having posted the question. :-/
I've said the same thing about email. There should be a delay for 8 hours, review your own post on gmail application. Just to make you read what you wrote.
2
it took me a while to get used to the fact that some business people just don't care about typos
or about using aol speak in hugely important emails
Oh, I'm not referring to typos. I'm referring to "should you really be sending this?"
not to make light of the DUI thing, but you are now referring to EUI?
Emailing under the influence?
Not just under the influence. Sometimes just angry. Sometimes I need a cooldown period to re-read what I wrote and find a way to say it nicely.
01:50
@terdon So that was dbus thing askubuntu.com/a/685995/295286 I'm surprised though why my grep search didn't show it up, because i did search /usr folder before
Awww. Someone is trying to close your question @IQAndreas . Don't feel bad. It's a great question, you just got there before it was supported. I like to leave good questions about development releases alone, but not everybody does.
And here's what happens at that building I showed you earlier when it gets dark:
@hbdgaf Ubuntu 15.10 is one week away from being released. Although I'd ordinarily agree with the flag, this exact issue isn't going to change much before the 22nd.
Exactly, and it's not a bug. It's a question that will still be there in a week.
02:11
@hbdgaf @IQAndreas we usually get more and more lenient with next release questions as the release date arrives, but not everyone follows it.
Lemme find the meta post and leave a comment.
@Seth I don't think that even enters in to it, because it's not a FR bug. It's just "How do we do this with that?" It's subtle I know, but I like one and not the other.
@hbdgaf that's true too.
You have been able to run mir on the desktop for a while now.
I read it the same way I read a Mir from PPA question, which would be on topic. This is just signposting it for the next person that has the problem.
15.10 auto-flag is just a w mistake on this one I think.
@Seth Good call on the comment. It settles it out without actually getting in to the why.
02:27
askubuntu.com/a/686088/295286 <- - - How's that looking ?
other than needing to edit beginnign it looks good.
@hbdgaf edit how ?

@A.B. @ByteCommander I haz python/perl question. So . . .I know python has couple different versions and syntax is somewhat different in those, or so i heard. Does perl have the same quirk ? Is it possible to write version-neutral code in those ?
04:59
@Serg In perl I never noticed that.
05:26
Can anyone make sense of this?
Each of his statements seem to be about a different thing and I can't follow what he's saying.
(Sidenote: why can't there be a way to delete a chat message when mobile?)
05:43
@Serg I don't know Perl, but you can usually write code that works on both major Python versions. Use Python 3 to develop and when finished, run it with Python 2 and debug the errors. Most of them will be import errors, because many package names changed. If you're not using special packages that are only available for one version without alternatives, your chances to get a working cross-version Python code are good.
(because most of Python3's syntax is downwards-compatible, but not the other way round)
And wherever your code has to be version specific, you have to write an if-clause checking the version tuple's first item and then decide which code part to run. The nice thing in Python is that your code my contain syntactically wrong lines without breaking the program. You just have to ensure they're not reached while it runs..
Oh, and good "meow"ning... ;)
Ahem...!

> By getting the RNN to complete our sentences, we can effectively ask questions of the model. Ilya Sutskever and Geoff Hinton trained a character level RNN on Wikipedia, and asked it to complete the phrase “The meaning of life is”. The RNN essentially answered “human reproduction”. It’s funny that you can get an RNN to read Wikipedia for a month, and have it essentially tell you that meaning of life is to have sex. It’s probably also a correct answer from a biological perspective.

Question @NathanOsman if you've got a sec.
20:52
Fire away.
What would you think if the fisticuffs server could only run one game at a time to break out "multiple game management" to some sort of game broker?
Oh, and if I didn't tell you already, there's some hilarious going on with the original... stop me if I told you already.
You didn't tell me.
Or if you mentioned it, I wasn't here.
After the threatening and "It's all already patented and trademarked", he had to change the name of the game, because someone already had "Skirmish"
LOL.
That is genuinely funny.
I laughed for a good 20 minutes on that one.
Back to the previous question. It would get it multiplayer faster by leaving out the multiple sessions management part and cutting right to the chase.
21:00
You could do that.
Do you mean that it has to be restarted for each game?
Or that each server can only host one game at a time?
That each process would only host a game at a time. Then if a broker were implemented, it would just spin up processes for each game - instead of trying to think about them all at once.
You wouldn't have to restart the process though, as it would forcibly disconnect the two players at the end of each game, then the next two are first come first served.
That sounds logical.
It's me trying to break out the logic for "more than one game at a time" and "get it working", but I don't want to keep rewriting things, because I want to add a feature. So, I'm trying to get ahead of it.
Right. I'm not aware of many games that can host more than one at a time anyway...
FreeCiv, 0 A.D., etc.
They only do one at a time.
Yeah. This one is so simple though. Hardware should be able to run a ton of games this simple.
It's not like Freeciv/0 A.D where if you played it in some realtime instead of turn based mode, the number of events would crush your hardware.
21:24
True.
Anyway, just confirming design decisions. Thanks for your time.
No problem.
