hmm I understand dd would work to make image of HDD how to put it on other computer though? so assume one scenario I want to clone my HDD (250 GB) on USB (1TB) transfer exact same image to other laptop HDD (500GB)

Hey all, can I get some help with this? I've been prompted during an application installation: "What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? [/usr/src/linux/include]"
When I press enter I get an error stating: "The path "/usr/src/linux/include" is not an existing directory." Where is this location in 11.10?

There is no completely automatic ban on chat, a 30 minute suspension is triggered by a successful spam or offensive flag. There are a few meta posts about it I think, though you can get to the transcript from the flag. So anyone looking for the context of the flag can easily do that.

iirc, the Ubuntu IRC team has IRC chat moderator regulations specifying mods should be identifying the context of what is reported

granted that's for IRC

but similar policies should be put in place SE wide saying "Determine the context first before acting"

@wisemonkey I did a locate for linux-header and came back with a large list. All files started in /usr/src/ but in my installation when I enter /usr/src/ for the directory of C header files it says The path "/usr/src" is an existing directory, but it does not contain a "linux" subdirectory as expected.
