@A.B. I saw your answer here : askubuntu.com/questions/634082/… what do you think about using ubuntu-make to install android studio ? It would be easier to install and to keep up-to-date...
I am using Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
In my character-map some scripts (Languages) are missing.
How can I get them? Is it possible to reinstall them?
For example, here there is no mathematics option:
apt-cache policy gucharmap
gucharmap:
Installed: 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu2
Candidate: 1:3.10.1-0ubuntu2

@Ravan I suggest : back up data - delete all sda partitions except sda1 / sda2 /sda5 - create a new partition for ubuntu / (root) - and if you really want, create another new partition /home. I prefer to create a separate partition for personal data formatted with FAT32 or NTFS so that it can be accessed from ubuntu and from Windows. Generally I always recommend to keep the layout as simple as possible ! If you follow this suggestion it is easy to reinstall GRUB when necessary !
@Ravan no leave it as it is : sda1 Windows sda2 extended sda5 swap and new (extended) partition 6 for / - install ubuntu including everything (root/boot/home) to sda6.
Swap is for RAM emergencies where the system slows down anyway. You will not feel the difference. In case you need to grow swap it can much easier be done if it is at the end.
another distro will use the same swap. In case we upgrade RAM we may want to grow swap... that's much easier in case the swap is at the end of a drive. But sure, swap can be anywhere.
@Ravan right-click sda7 select label and call it data
@Ravan you can grow sda7 if you want in case you need more space for your personal data - you can do this later anyway.
@Ravan new screenshot when finished please
@Ravan I have to leave soon for about an hour ... so please hurry to give me a new screenshot !
@Ravan again : sda1 primary Windows OK ! - sda2 extended OK ! - sda5 format swap - sda 6 format ext4 - sda7 format ntfs set label data
@Ravan I am leaving now, will be back in about an hour - when finished partitioning as advised install ubuntu to sda6 - select mount point / - good luck my friend - see you later ... :)
@Ravan this one is an answer by the OP himself and allowed us to close the question with "problem went all away by itself". So when you review, you should vote "leave open" ;-)
Can anyone please guide me, how to make app groups in GNOME Shell?
I have tried
gsettings set org.gnome.shell app-folder-categories "['Utilities', 'Sundry', 'Games' ]"
but it did not worked. Edited the or.gnome.shell.desktop.xml file, still did not worked.
How should I proceed?
I've tried to install a new Linux operating system and I've tried different flavors (x)ubuntu, Mint etc. With and without encryption, with and without LVM, but I'll always get the same error.
When rebooting after an error free installation, my PC will boot up and skip along the the boot order:
