Yeah you can flag up that stuff. I like to leave the friendly from-OP "thank you!" messages because it shows the outside world that we're not robots... But expansion requests and their acknowledgements can die.
Does anyone have a set up to make xdmpc work with lightdm on 11.10. Using xdmpc+gdm was easy as pie, worked great. After the upgrade to 11.10 with the switch to lightdm I can't figure out how to get it to work. Where is the documentation that explains the custome.conf file?

This can be accomplished by blacklisting the NTFS kernel module.
Begin by typing the following into a terminal:
sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
At the bottom of the file, add the line:
blacklist ntfs

On 11.04, I removed any packages that's got to do with screensavers and when I pressed the shortcut to lock screen it gave me a dialog box mentione xscreensaver something, but installing that helped me not.

I just tried the Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit live CD and it worked flawlessly. Although the same error ― "error: prefix not set" comes up, this time Ubuntu actually boots into the live CD.
