I really don't think that any of us have the right to kill, so arming the people, is not right.

user136984
If you don't want murder, then don't encourage its methods if that is their only real purpose.

geez what's with that blue flagging all of a sudden?

user136984
@Rinzwind: Which blue flag?

@ParanoidPanda I get those due to high rep ;)

user136984
Right, but where was it, here?

7:02 PM
I live in a country that has outlawed handguns. Rest assured that the gangs have never had any problems getting their hands on guns...

yeah same as those orange ones but those are blue

We're currently in the midst of a rather large scale gang war.

user136984
As they say...

user136984
Make Love, not War.

@jrg is really going to have a fit when he sees how far off-topic this went :)

7:04 PM
@NathanOsman hey we got those too! there are 3 biker gangs here that have killed at least 4 of them over the past 3 months. We also have gang wars (about 10 assasinations of criminals over the past 2 years or so). And some where done with machine guns. Still see no reason for me to own a gun ;)
@NathanOsman move the chat >:=D
and it is not like someone is asking about Ubuntu at the moment :-P

user136984
@NathanOsman: Then why ping him?! :D

user136984
:P

Why not? :P

In Germany they sell guns that are actual guns but modified to shoot pellets. Takes about 30 minutes to undo the modification D:

user136984
Oh dear...

user136984
7:08 PM
You and your guns!

Perfectly legal to sell in Germany; illegal to sell in Holland. Illegal to modify in both countries. But it is very easy for us to get them.

user136984
Why can't you just make Towels instead!

user136984
Pet Owls!

user136984
And make sandwiches!

Q: Ubuntu 6.06 (yes 6.06) on IBM Thinkpad A31 2652

Haris LinuxOSThis is a "museum" PC, so i do not need up to date software. I just wanna know if Ubuntu 6.06 Gnome 2, with alternative CD will work. Ubuntu 4.10 worked fine, so I want to know about 6.06. It has 128MB RAM, 20GB HDD, Mobile P4 1.6GhZ. Thank you.

user136984

@Rinzwind My friend, a chinese lady, cooks pretty good spareribs . When I was in like 2nd year of college, she'd bring us some of the stuff she cooked. T_T getting kinda nostalgic here

@Seth: Ooh, I bake bread too! What kind do you bake? :)

7:31 PM
Artisan mostly :)

@Seth my dad bakes bread sometimes. Pretty cool

Great book the revolutionized my bread baking, for anyone interested: artisanbreadinfive.com
Once you start baking it the stuff at the store tastes like sand.

user136984
I have learnt to make a number of different types of sweet, and savoury loafs, and am going to try cake baking soon too! :)

7:48 PM

user136984
your problem is so defferent with mine @ParanoidPanda — omid azami 31 mins ago

user136984
What, does he think that because I edited and improved the clarity of his question that it's an act of "I've got this question too"?

Probably.

user136984

A: Does it contain some private informations?

SergTL;DR: you're safe enough Boot Repair report that you have linked there only lists the layout of your hard drive and bootloader settings. This is quite low level information that releals nothing useful about you as far as crackers are concerned. The only tiny bit is on line 997, where it shows...

What you guys think ?

9:04 PM
You have given a great answer I think.

@Serg ditto.

yay ^_^

9:23 PM
speaking of hacking, I've been lurking on security.stackexchange.com and there's been a link to video posted from like 1996 or so. The japanese basically developed a setup with a regular PC and a huge antenna that would capture magnetic waves or whatever that surround VGA cables, so basically they could see what's on the other PC's screen, while not being connected to it at all ! that was quite impressive sight.

I wonder if it's also possible with the now common HDMI.

@chili555 I'd guess it is, since HDMI still sends electrical signals , which do have magnetic field. Small, but still . . . .

Nice idea
No new questions since three minutes :/
4 minutes

hey @chili555! I saw someone in a question say that the firmware-b43-installer required an internet connection. Is that true?
That doesn't make much sense to me..

@Seth It sure does. I understand that Broadcom considers the firmware proprietary. It is therefore outside the FOSS GPL umbrella.
There are work-arounds, however.....
Until Broadcom come knocking on my door, that is.

9:38 PM
@chili555 that's a ripoff :/
Looking at this question here:

Q: Custom ubuntu install to enable wifi on inspiron-1501 w/o wired ethernet

LenBI am helping a small non-profit install ubuntu on some (40) donated inspiron's. To get wifi running I need to install some additional packages: b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer. I would like to create an install CD or USB stick that does not require a wired internet connection. Unfor...

@Seth I am looking for the easiest explanation of the "work-around." If you like it, feel free to add it to your comments/answer.
Just a few moments...looking...

Cool, thanks!

ah, so someone extracted the contents and is hosting it. I see ;)

Exactly. I wonder who 'someone' might be...hmmm.

9:46 PM
By the way, while there is an opportunity, may I just send my fanboy vibes @chili555 ? While I was still just starting with ubuntu, and been looking at muru's and chili's answer around here and ubuntuforums, and was like wow, these guys are cool

I assume your person could place the firmware in /lib/firmware/b43 before he built the custom install media and be all set.
@Serg I am humbled by your very kind comments. Thank you.

^_^

@Seth I assume, if he/she preinstalls the firmware, the wireless will work OOTB.

user136984
Oh dear...

user136984
Something rather amusing just happened... :D

9:58 PM
@ParanoidPanda please enlighten us :3

user136984
@Serg: I was typing in my password, and couldn't understand why it was rejecting it, it turned out that my keyboard had randomly switched to Russian! :D

user136984
I literally tried 10 times!

user136984
And I was trying to kill a process which was unresponsive and destroying my machine's ability to function! :D

In soviet russia, keyboard switches you XD

LOLOL!

10:00 PM

@seth wow. Just wow.
@NathanOsman so I just am in shock that the discussion was had here.

jrg
Less that it didn't involve tempers and hurt feelings.

I knew we were going to hear about this.

jrg
LOL
You seem to be doing a good job of self-policing the topic yourselves.
No pun intended.

Heh.
