Sorry for my bad English.
I'm running Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS (GNU/Linux 3.2.0-60-virtual x86_64).
In an attempt to fix Heartbleed, I first ran apt-get update, then apt-get dist-upgrade.
It went all OK, so I thought that that security issue was fixed.
But openssl version -a outputs:
OpenSSL 1.0.1...
I currently have Mint 14 set up on a 128GB SSD, with my /home directory on a 1TB Hard Disk.
I am thinking about installing Ubuntu 14.04 when it comes out.
I understand that I can select a different home partition during installation and not format it.
Will the home directory just work, consider...
Looking back 8 years ago. When the year was 2006. Doesn't seem like it. I remember when they killed 98, and I remember my dad getting the last of the updates for it
The first time that I did use Linux was in 2010 or 2009, on the desktop, of couse.

@Qwertieϟ The reason why Windows doesn't work right, it is base on DOS Technologies, and it was never design for more than a single user. Gnu/Linux is a clone of Unix, which was design for multi-user systems.
@PatilAditya Then they most of downside them, because I remember when 12.10 comes out, it was 8XX MB in size
Virus are fun, come out and play, you have been waiting for a while, since your gods don't want you to get patch. El, isn't it cute? That the Microsoft, is kina tring to control it, since they want people to still use it, but want to make money out of the anti-virus incs. The Virus only wants to help people to lose there money since they are still on XP, IE6 and they don't know any better. Yepee, phishing is fun, Do you want to go with me. Linux is only down the road.
Try it, you might like it, since we are untied by the freedom we hold and the kernel we use..
Looking around on the site, I found a post with my name I didn't remember having posted.
Although I should have known my first name is not that unique, I never realized there could be 31 of me around here.
Is it possible to add my last name for example? In contrast with my first name, the secon...

Hello i need some one who knows java / Linux / Ubuntu programming i have some questions to ask him ? i need a tutorial on how to make a radio app witch uses online radios for streaming the music .
you know why I stopped reading the no sound questions? They are ever so often the result of some obscure tinkering with system files or other weird setups.
I saw many people on AU, dealt with the community members directly and made their account deleted.
What would be the main reasons for deleting their accounts by own?
I've been hearing more about the OpenSSL Heartbleed attack, which exploits some flaw in the heartbeat step of TLS. If you haven't heard of it, it allows people to:
Steal OpenSSL private keys
Steal OpenSSL secondary keys
Retrieve up to 64kb of memory from the affected server
As a result, decryp...
Most of my friends who are not experienced in computers want to know what Heartbleed is and how it works. How would one explain Heartbleed to someone without a technical background?
@Venki I am not a security expert by any stretch of the imagination. But in theory the danger is that an attacker might have gotten access to your passwords so changing them would be a good idea, yes
As long as the server in question has fixed it. If they haven't it makes no difference. Remember that the bug is server side.
@blade19899 could you clarify your question? What gives you the error about sublime? You start with that but then ignore it and talk about an error caused by the apt package.
@blade19899 OK, then remove that bit. It is just confusing, you have one error in the title and describe a completely different one in the question body.
remember that "post-installation script returned error" means that something went wrong with the configuration scripts of the installation of the package, in this case apt, which where caused by gpg keys
@blade19899 nah, just removing using `add-apt-repository -r ppa:/blabla
dpkg: error processing bleachbit (--configure):
package bleachbit is not ready for configuration
cannot configure (current status `half-installed')
Errors were encountered while processing:
bleachbit
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
I installed the damn thing a while ago to answer a question here and don't remember the details but intentionally broke it. Now I can't fix it and feel like a fool :(
$ sudo dpkg --configure -D 200 bleachbit dpkg: error processing bleachbit (--configure): package bleachbit is not ready for configuration cannot configure (current status `half-installed') Errors were encountered while processing: bleachbit
$ sudo dpkg --purge bleachbit
dpkg: error processing bleachbit (--purge):
Package is in a very bad inconsistent state - you should
reinstall it before attempting a removal.
Errors were encountered while processing:
bleachbit
I also tried moving the files away from the apt/info dir and that made no difference
@PatilAditya By Who? If there's a problem I think all the mods would like to try and fix it rather than silently lose people to it. And, no there isn't a way a moderator can delete your entire SE account, but you can speak to SE directly through the contact links in the footers of pages on the site.
> Thanks for Neel Mehta of Google Security for discovering this bug and to Adam Langley <[email protected]> and Bodo Moeller <[email protected]> for preparing the fix
Meh, for all it's ills, it'll be harder to not migrate to it in the long term. At least if we're all using the same thing, we can finally drop the old initv
@Seth Seriously? I haven't heard anything good about upstart apart from having very clean code. Everyone seems to be complaining about it. I don't hold a very strong opinion on this but the consensus seems to be against it.
