@jrg broken window problem, people sees that question "open" then start asking similar questions, the notice is not enough but closing them promptly as previous discussion meta.askubuntu.com/q/1511/169736
@Braiam: Hey, I appreciate it, but please stop answering dupes. We end up having to delete them when they finally get closed, so that people from google get redirected to the master dupe.
@Braiam the historical notice is after that discussion.
I divided my 320 gb hdd into parts, the parts are shown but are not opening in hte file systems. What should I do?
The following message is shown:

it wasn't in the original answer and still, we are allowed to recicle our answers. If an answer works for several problems we can adapt our solution to tackle the specific reason
@Braiam Well if that's the case maybe you could.. spruce it up some? It isn't in a good condition right now, especially if we need it to be a canonical question of sorts.
If you are using the Windows Installer (Wubi)
Wubi overrides are identical to normal installs except the first time you reboot after running the installer in Windows.
To complicate things, since Ubuntu 11.10 there are two distinct methods to install with Wubi. The first way is using the Deskto...

@Seth I think the question is probably about how Python handles paging if someone wanted to answer it properly... or else just leave it with stusmith's answer which doesn't have anything in it about Ubuntu.
Hey Regulators, I wanna ask You guys 1 thing, Suppose if a question has been marked duplicate and a guy already answered it, Why does Mods have to delete the answer? Can't they just let it be there ?
So if there are no answers the site automatically redirects users to the correct question since it's a duplicate that's where the answers are supposed to be.
So if the question gets lots of views your answer breaks that redirection
sometimes if your answer is very good mods will merge it in to the master question
but it depends. That's just a risk you take when you answer a duplicate question.
First, the question has moderate views, (not too many) secondly, I have seen posts here ( where upto 3 people have answered , & their answers are not deleted, ) though I answered a single question, it got marked dup and then mod went further TO DELETE MY ANSWER ! What the ! why just he could let it be there
I'm using Ubuntu 10.10 with Gnome on Acer Aspire One netbook. The X11 or just some parts of Gnome like panels and partially windows (details described below) are frozen which doesn't allow to do anything with mouse (although the cursor can move, but clicking anywhere brings no results - panels ar...
zRAM is a module of the Linux kernel, previously called "compcache". zRAM increases performance by avoiding paging on disk and instead uses a compressed block device in RAM in which paging takes place until it is necessary to use the swap space on the hard disk drive. Since using RAM is an alternative way to provide swapping on RAM instead of hard disk driver which is usually unavailiable during system booting, zram allows Linux to make more use of RAM when swapping/paging is required, especially on older computers with less RAM installed.
Even though the cost of RAM hardware is relativ...
Running Ubutu 12.10 here, on an 128Gb SSD and a 4Gb ram system. Ever since I installed the OS I realised I dont need the swap partition, as I never use the hibernate function and rarely run out of RAM. However, would installing zRam bring any real improvement when RAM is full, even if there is n...

@JourneymanGeek Okay?
@JourneymanGeek How do you like my joke of making fun of IE?
@Utkarsh Probably neither but things will tend to crash... You can also get data corruption depending on the cache methods though I'd expect the kernel to be a bit more protective about its write caches than anything else.
I thought answers should be self contained. Hence I flagged

I really don't mind one helpful flag less but I ask for community guidance where to draw the line between commentary an...
@BYEAskUbuntu Yeah, I didn't see that at the time. We don't need to catalogue spam on the site - just delete it. Flag it up as spam and the system should take care of the rest.
@BYEAskUbuntu As Braiam says, there's an automated feedback trigger for spam that once it gets enough people saying it's spam (whatever their reputation) it's deleted as spam. That happens enough times to a user and they get blocked/destroyed/etc.
But even before then, it throws the flag right to the top of the pile in the moderator screen so we can deal with it ASAP if we get there quick enough.
hopefully it's not too much of a newbie question......

Please explain what happened and can I get those points back?
