19:00
@Braiam no..
@jokerdino ;p
mm... no ...
20 questions about it and some 50 post in total, create? [Y/n]
aaaaaaah! +60 now from earlier :D
@Braiam E: A majority of these are EOL release or Not Supported anymore, AFAICT...
so i'd say "No"
but meh
most of them require retagging, tho...
@Braiam you dont want parents to lock out their kids from the real world, do you? ;)
It appears that the lack of parental control in Ubuntu is on purpose - we are free and OSS :)
@Takkat I'm sure you only wanted to ask a random question.... because I have no idea from where you come...
19:06
lol
what?
woah... people must like me today, i have +75 rep today...
either that or cosmic rays are making my computer break with the display
cosmic rays broke my IMAP server today, it was sending triplicate of messages to the email client
@ThomasW. beware of the 3:00 rollback D:
@ThomasW.
EVIL ASCII MUST BURN
/me burns @Braiam for breaking chrome's text display
lol...
if i were a noob then i'd have 1337 rep right now
9337 is what i have now xD
/me had l33t rep at one point though
/me tells @ThomasW. to use a real web browser
19:09
@Braiam firefox is breaking too
so is opera
it's your fail text.
I BET YOU ARE USING WINDOWS!
6
starred
@Braiam happens on chrome for iOS too
and safari
/me tested on an ipad too :P
@ThomasW. are you banned from the UTF-8 paradise?
@Braiam my windows chrome is set to use utf-8
19:12
that's the only explanation...
so is firefox
that works fine
but that's a png so lolz
folks, askubuntu.com/questions/361150/apt-get-install-and-update-fail is, AFAICU, off-topic (backtrack, not Ubuntu)
@hggdh nice catch, it is offtopic here because BackTrack is not supported here.
-1'd, voted to close, flagging for @jokerdino to deal with faster now
19:17
ah, I can do that also?
checks your rep
@hggdh you can downvote their quesiton and flag for mod attention
you don't have the rep to vote to close
@hggdh you can do: Flag > Close for another reason > Off Topic > Not Ubuntu ;)
permissions downgrade, in comparison, from our bug control isn't it xD
@ThomasW., good enough. Will do that.
19:19
@ThomasW. heh. I will have to re-learn how to live as a commoner, I guess
@hggdh hehehehe
@hggdh i started out here as a commoner, but we all get there in the end
'course i had a few bounty-awards that were useful
like a +500 on a Set up a PPTP VPN for Ubuntu answer
where is that i think ijust got a badge for it...
digs around
that was the most complete answer there, and still is xD

Q: Easiest way to setup Ubuntu as a VPN server

Sorin SbarneaI know there are many tutorials on the net for setting up VPN client and server. I you find one that is simple/short, I am interested only in the server part. For client, I will use OS X so I prefer a solution that uses L2TP over IPsec or PPTP because I suppose Cisco IPsec would cost something...

i've had to revise it since.
@Braiam yep. The answer is mismarked, though, the jorge castro +500 indicates the complete answer that works
all hail @JorgeCastro for community powers of randomly giving out rep for good answers. xD
no, but really, i learned about that one on the community team's channel on IRC
which is one of many places i lurk
ahah, i just got 20 more rep...
heh
+120 so far today
19:23
@ThomasW. I learned breaking apart things D:
@Braiam lol
@Braiam i learned about that question via the community team's channel, i answered it using a guide, but meh.
i had to really adapt the guide though for my setup, which uses purely directly-manipulated iptables and not ufw
another upvote and I'm capped D:
can a mod remove this question? askubuntu.com/q/371664/169736 OP removed his account and that will not allow us to get "feedback"...
19:46
Ok, I now have a home server running Ubuntu 12.04. Any ideas for fun things to do with it?
@Undo light it on fire?
Sounds fun.
@Undo create a faulty bash stmt. post it on AU and let Thomas answer it :+
3
@Rinzwind then prepare for your ears getting raped with me chewing you out.
@Rinzwind you probably just want a reason for me to get more upvotes :P
thereby getting me to 10k faster
then you have someone on the community 10k-ers who will churn through the flags xD
@ThomasW. yes that was the idea :+)
19:53
@ThomasW. weird enough, there is no pending flags D:
@Braiam probably because @jokerdino is awake
:P
lol @Braiam on 200 yet?
what about when our esteemed mods are offline
@Rinzwind me? already capped with the next upvote, then only bouties/accept d:
good
I have a hard time getting over 100 nowadays. Questions used to be so easy to answer :D
19:55
btw @ThomasW. you will hate the 5 secs limit for flagging stuff
@Rinzwind you mean that they were more clear to answer ....
@Braiam i've already run into it
and every time i do i want to burn the system
mmm... what about dupe this against another question that makes more sense?
@Braiam nowadays I only see dupes spam and bad q's :+)
@Rinzwind follow a darn tag!
(that if they get correctly tagged D:)
398 command-line × 80
I do
20:03
I would check your tags and stuff, there are a lot of answers that are version free ;)
Mind if I go offtopic for 1 line?
ajax - barcelona 1 - 0 :D
"ajax"???
/me ajaxs @Rinzwind a barcelona in binary D:
Hi guys! Greetings from Poland :) Maybe someone have idea where should I look for answer to my question: askubuntu.com/questions/382087
@dhpasta just a note in that question, please do not use tag-like words in the title ;)
@Braiam :+
20:09
Ok I will remember :P
title tweak further :p
@ThomasW. I was trying to figure out what to do with the title... ¬_¬
That's not easy to write clear title when your OS is in polish and you are just in a highschool :P
@Braiam read the title i wrote, voice opinions?
@ThomasW. you mean argument...? no
20:14
:P
250 rep!!!!
obtained 125 rep in one day! :P
@ThomasW. gratz
i meant 135
you know what I like about @ThomasW. bash answer....? That the prettify even says where the problem is :D
20:22
i'm apparently still getting rep o.O
@Braiam lol
@Braiam it didn't used to, they tagged 'r' and not 'bash' when I added the 'bash' tag it bashified the code
and i wanted to make sure that was the case so i added the lang definition to the question just in case :p
same in my answer too
but yes, the prettify identified the issue :P
but nobody reads it
man, how do you escape the character that you will use to escape?
uhm, what?
"R -e \\"
20:30
@Braiam by escaping it :=)
@Braiam commented, VTC'd it, downvoted, flagging now...
@ThomasW. and move on...
/me drifts over to /dev/null for a bit
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Thomas will disappear!
@Braiam Only part of me will
another part of me will continue to exist on, sending things into the dark abyss.

A: Unsupported type of task operation: using Brasero

Rinzwind Install package brasero-cdrkit Source 1, Source 2 The source has the actual error code so this is more likely than: Install package icedax Source. This one is 2 lines off. If this does not help please leave a comment and I'll remove it.

answered ;-)
@Rinzwind they should fix their stuff either way, applications are not supposed to be crashing :(
btw, he went directly to upstream???
that bug has been on the tracker since 2011

Q: Close voters in the wrong voters' bucket?

guntbertI voted to close/hold a question as "off topic", others voted for "unclear, what you are asking". Apparently I was the 5th and now I supposedly voted for "unclear" too. It's no big issue but it feels strange. Is that on purpose or is it a bug? see cant open my documents

and... I'm capped D:
posted a meta question - formulated the question/problem really bad. - goes to bed now.
@Braiam I'm using Windows ;)

Q: duplicate question review managment

AlvarWhen you click on the close button on a question and select duplicate you can then search for a question and get a result list. If you select a question that is on hold/closed for being a duplicate you can then click that linked question (the question it was a duplicate of) and it opens. The prob...
