/dev/sdb is probably the USB Stick that you're installing Ubuntu from.

and linux on the 2nd physical harddisk

Ok, so typically, sdB is the USB stick that is used to install ubuntu. in your case, you don't see that, because in the latest version, they started hiding the installation media.

Then I recommend you do a force restart and "start over", so to speak.

Select sda3, click change, change the mountpoint to /, set the partition type to ext4, and click format. then click say.

@JANORTS that does all this automatically, with the catch that it makes it impossible to resize partitions afterwards.

uh, you can't really.

So if you want to install windows 7

Go ahead and do that.

Then redo the Ubuntu. You don't need to wipe the partition or anything on this go around.
