Q: Traffic not routed through VPN connection when connected by network-manager

coredumpI'm trying to use wireguard vpn with NetworkManage, but i have a problem with routes. I think i "overrouted" or i don't know how to call this. When I connect with exact same settings via wg-quick, it works perfectly, but NetworkManager adds unneeded routes as I may see, and i just want to know ho...

Q: How to safely remove old kernels headers and libraries

RatatouilleLast night our system ran out of inode count. Luckily I manage to delete few old kernels Using the following steps sudo dpkg --list 'linux-image*'|awk '{ if ($1=="ii") print $2}'|grep -v `uname -r` | xargs sudo apt-get purge $1 sudo apt-get autoremove sudo update-grub I manage to get ...

Anyone know how to switch the default locale?
It's currently set to LOCALE.

It is not ...
`sudo update-locale LANG=en_US.UTF-8 LANGUAGE=en_US`
? @NathanOsman

I finally just overrode it with export LANG="en_US.UTF-8"
That seemed to do the trick.

ah

It's for a Docker container.
:P

well that will work too

Q: Conver .ods document to .docx document

ANIT THOMASI tried to convert LibreOffice document to MSWord document and i couldn't find any tool for the conversion . If anyone know please help me.

Exact same text. 2 users.

Not the same. Different wording and second one has better spelling
agree it's probably the same person though

and same typo. "knows"
and the wrong answers keep comming in :P

I think that's a grammar mistake rather than a typo (to me a typo is where you know what you should write, but you write something else instead)
same wrong tags

today it seems is day of bad questions and bad answers :) --> askubuntu.com/questions/1039793/…

12:54 PM
@Videonauth I came to that conclusion too
@Videonauth I see spam :=)

yeah smokey does not think its spam, already scanned it
its somehow fishy

he's fishing for traffic :=)

the answer however is more or the less naa
I mean if i tell you xx is a good option, you can search for tutoials on the webz you would not e satisfied with it as an answer
ok it gives you a lead but no real solution
and the question itself yes seems like traffic fishing

@Videonauth askubuntu.com/questions/957205/huge-sylog-file/1039831#1039831 1st answer is dubious :D so I looked for it myself and it was easy to find

A: How do I change the default locale in Ubuntu Server?

Savvas RadevicRun the command locale - it should show your current locale. Generate the locales for french: sudo locale-gen fr_FR sudo locale-gen fr_FR.UTF-8 Also, try regenerating the supported locale list by running: sudo dpkg-reconfigure locales And update/change the current default locale: sudo up...

dunno if that still works

@Zanna "...avoid having a million more-or-less poor copies of the exact same thing and avoid duplication of effort.." And I always thought that was to provide users with answers, and link closely-related issues which may have same solutions.
"Quite the contrary — some duplication is desirable. There’s often benefit to having multiple subtle variants of a question around, as people tend to ask and search using completely different words, and the better our coverage, the better odds people can find the answer they’re looking for. And isn’t that, really, the whole point of this exercise?" Jeff Atwood

@SergiyKolodyazhnyy define closely-related issues. What Jeff is saying there is that people describe the same problem different ways, and that's why duplicates are signposts.
Not that two posts about different things can be duplicates.

^

There are rare cases where the line is very gray, but those don't happen as often as you might think. It should be immediately obvious what's going on in duplicates.

and providing answers is taken for granted to be the purpose of the site. What's eating me is people closing when answering would be better

also hi @SergiyKolodyazhnyy! Long time no see. How's life? What's up?

5:18 PM
haven't seen @SergiyKolodyazhnyy in chat, but been seeing some of his answers :D

@Seth I've seen a few questions, particularly when it comes to apt-get, when there's either common error message, but solution to what OP asks and duplicate is the same. That's sort of thing I point at. Eh, but I can't think of it off the top of my head, there's too many questions around

@SergiyKolodyazhnyy common error message seems like the same problem
now, for dependency issues that doesn't really work most of the time, but in general.

And yeah, long time no see, guys ! I popped in into chat couple days ago but didn't stay around

Subprocess /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Life's alright. Surviving. Kinda. Working on remix of one of my old indicators
As for closely related stuff, I'll just throw in my own examples

Q: fc built in missing from dash ( i.e.,dash shell history doesn't work )?

Sergiy KolodyazhnyyIn dash manual, under Builtins section there exists explanation on fc built in which controls shell history and re-executes commands from it, FCEDIT and HISTSIZE also are mentioned there. Yet when I try to execute it dash gives command not found error. $ echo one one $ fc -l 1 dash: 2: fc: not f...

Q: vi editing mode in dash ( /bin/sh )

Sergiy KolodyazhnyyTL;DR : default shell man page says there's vi editing mode, but set -o vi doesn't actually enable it In many shells, including dash the POSIX standard dictates that set -o vi will enable vi editing mode, in which user of interactive shell can navigate line using vi-style of shortcuts. In dash (...

Two different things - editing mode and a built in missing in dash, but the reason behind both not working is the same
That's sort of the thing I mean
@Zanna I kinda wanted to step away from AU since last summer. A bit of bitter stuff came around in personal life. But yeah, I ended up checking AU and U&L occasionally...OK, kinda daily...Maybe my plans to step away didn't quite work out :)

haha :)
hope the bitter stuff got better

It did :) Learned a thing or two

that always happens at least...

@Seth @Zanna What about you guys ? What's new ?
Aside from the 2018 edits, of course :)

hmm "relaxing" temporarily at parents' place. Underemployed. Enjoying cooking and cycling around

Sounds familiar. Without the cycling part, though.
Speaking of cooking, I need to take care of mount Dishverest in the sink and cook something <.<

@SergiyKolodyazhnyy eh, not much. I have a colonoscopy later today. Will hopefully shine a light on the ongoing health issues I've been having.

@Seth Good luck with everything. Meanwhile, I got tired of the desktop cube and exploding windows and went back to marco compositor

lol, shellcheck even warns of unicode quotes: github.com/koalaman/shellcheck/wiki/SC1111 – unfortunately it’s not clever enough to check whether I used these quotes just in echos and actually wanted them not to be recognized… what is the world coming to.
