PITA to get simple NAT working, when it just works with pfSense.

@NathanOsman is 0 in UNIX time the 1969 date?

1:22 AM
I'm starting my V20 camera a lot more
I did that with LR Mobile and RAW

@TheWanderer January 1, 1970 00:00:00 UTC.

weird...

If it's showing 1969, you're probably dealing with a timezone conversion issue.
Gotta love timezones.

I just want to know what to parse as "this person has never talked in this room"
which would probably be 0
yeah it's showing 5 hours before that date
so since I'm in ETC that makes sense
other times are correct though
@NathanOsman so do you have any idea why the cookies are being weird?
ah so RequestFactory doesn't need to throw an exception on expired tokens
it really just needs to reset the token

Q: Nosetests execution with different Python versions?

kay19Newbie here using Linux. Hopefully this is relevant to this site. Well, i'm having trouble with Python 2.7 & 3.5. Right now I use GIT to acquire repositories and their python folders all have 2.7 syntax. The problem: When i'm attempting to Automate using repositories, my .local/bin nosetest...

@cl-netbox didn't get in between the brackets :-P. Mir geht es gut, Danke

@RonnieDroid Schön zu hören, dass es Dir gut geht ! :) I said : ... Ronnie (in case that this is your real name) ... :)

@RonnieDroid Christian :)

@ThomasWard do you know any other languages?

@TheWanderer do programming languages count? do sci-fi languages count?

12:31 PM

Hi @ThomasWard ! :) Nice to get some evil and darkness back ! :D

then no. but I do speak Klingon.

QaQ Chaos SoH! = Good Chaos to you.

That is a language. If you actually do speak it.

12:32 PM
Hello terdon ! :) Good afternoon ! :)

@terdon twice a month, with an old professor from Carnegie Mellon who is a bigger Star Trek nerd than I am
and that's saying something.
beeps and beats the switch sitting next to his computer with a stick

is it Fabby?

lol no

@cl-netbox willkommen Christ, das ist eine gut name :-)

12:34 PM
@RonnieDroid it is Chris ! not (Jesus) Christ ! hahaha

@ThomasWard Twice a month is nowhere near enough to be able to speak a language though. Still, a good start :)

>_>

@cl-netbox I am sure you'll do better for this world than him, so don't worry lol

shots fired

@RonnieDroid :D :D :D

12:35 PM
@terdon that's currently
i used to speak it daily

Ah

because i had that instructor every day of the week lol

@RonnieDroid Welcome Ron ! :) Nice to see you ! :)

do that for a year and a half and blah.

stupid wakelocks..
why do they only work when I don't want them to?

12:35 PM
glares at his netgear prosafe switch

@cl-netbox thank you buddy

this is annoying me, like how hard is it ot set up a VLAN trunk >.>

Why whenever I start watching a tutorial on Python I end up here instead of watching the next one? Lol

@terdon you're right ... once I could speak French quite well ... because I never needed to use it, I forgot almost everything ... :(

@cl-netbox today I feel special, I have a homework :-P
@cl-netbox french is a nice language I think, but the spelling is a disaster

12:40 PM
@RonnieDroid because python is boring ??? maybe you should switch from the progamming language to the "snake" version ... (less boring I guess) :D
@RonnieDroid yes indeed ! :)
@RonnieDroid forgot to say : be careful with that python ... it might bite you ! :D

@cl-netbox You can't really learn a language if you don't spend time speaking it every day, I think. You can only get the theory, but you need to speak with the natives for it to stick.

@terdon exactly ... I agree completely ... most of my English I learned from talking to native speakers from Australia / GB / US when I was a child ... problem was that my (German) English teachers in school didn't understand me sometimes ... :D

12:59 PM
@cl-netbox nah, it is pretty exciting to be honest, I just like to come here and talk about what I learned in the last tutorial :-P . And don't worry, I feed it very well it will not bite me :-P
@terdon totally agree, that's how I learned English, and Kurdish and Arabic, now when I'll move to Germany, German will be much easier for me, right Chris?

@RonnieDroid yes Ron ... you already are speaking German quite well ... after a few months you will see a huge improvement though ! :)
@RonnieDroid good to know that you're an experienced "snake magician" having an advanced knowledge of python ... :D

@cl-netbox :-D I live in a village, so we encounter snakes more than usual :-P

@RonnieDroid you won't find many in Essen ... so enjoy them as long as you can ... hahaha

@cl-netbox lol hahahha

rip

1:14 PM
:D

@cl-netbox well I'll live with my aunt for a while, so basically I'll be living with a snake :-P

@RonnieDroid Yes, exactly. I took 8 years of French in school and learned next to nothing. Then I found myself in situations where I had to use it and ended up speaking the language.

@RonnieDroid write a script that prevents her from biting you ! :D

@cl-netbox lol, I like you man :-P

@RonnieDroid Thanks ! :) We seem to share the same kind of humor ... I like you too ! :)
Bytey ! :D

@ByteCommander due to the weather (heavy rain and storm) ?

What?
It's still fscking hot here
I feel cheated by the weather forecast this week.
Exchanged my tabletop fan for a rain jacket, just to sweat even more and without having a single drop all day.

1:20 PM
we had rain in the last two nights here

Yeah, night.
But not while I'm outside

yes, right now it's sunny and warm outside

@cl-netbox :-D :-)
Ahh some rain would be a bless now, it is 44°c for two days now here

1:41 PM

Rinzy ! :)

@ByteCommander Wait, so the heat is running a filesystem check on your computer? :D

@AndroidDev replace the "s" with an "u" and you'll understand what @ByteCommander wanted to say ... :D :D :D

@cl-netbox yeah I know, but I was trying to be funny :P

@AndroidDev you succeeded in being so ! :D

1:50 PM
Hi by the way :)

@AndroidDev Hi ! :) How are you doing today ? ssh access problems from yesterday solved ?

@cl-netbox Pretty well, and you? Yeah, seems that it really did need the hostname at the end... no idea why.... though unfortunately the answer Nathan got to his question wasn't exactly what he was hoping for - turns out the VPS host uses the one type of ARM64 CPU that doesn't support running ARM32 instructions!

@AndroidDev so I was right ... I don't know the reason, but I know that there has to be a "user@something" comment at the end in the public key - that's why I told you ... thanks for asking : I am fine ! :)

@terdon I'm trying to chat in my homework :-P, so
for n in range(100):
Print ("")

What kind of homework is it @RonnieDroid ?

2:03 PM
How can I make it so it only prints 4, 8, 12, etc from the loop?
@cl-netbox it's a homework the guy from the online tutorial gave, and I'd prefer to cheat and do it that watch the have tutorial were hell show me the correct answer :-P

@RonnieDroid aha ... cheating to learn something ... nice ... :D :D :D

@cl-netbox that's the way to go bro, always, just not in marriage, then you'll be dead inside :-P

@RonnieDroid use a step
Do try to look at the documentation of the functions you are using. It will make your life much easier.
for n in range(2,100,2):
    print(n)

@terdon oh yeah, that's right, using 3 numbers to tell Python what's to start and what's to stop, thank you man, so basically, it'll start at 2 and go all the way to 100 with the last 2 telling it to count in sets of 2 :-)
@terdon great idea, I should start doing that :-)
Where* not what's ^_^

Q: How do I make resolv.conf work the old way on modern Linux distributions?

NickIn /etc/resolv.conf on modern distros link Mint 17 and Ubuntu 16, there's a warning: # Dynamic resolv.conf(5) file for glibc resolver(3) generated by resolvconf(8) # DO NOT EDIT THIS FILE BY HAND -- YOUR CHANGES WILL BE OVERWRITTEN nameserver 127.0.1.1 How do I make resolv.conf work the ol...

But yes, python has a man page. As far as I know, it doesn't have the wonderfully complete documentation tools that perl does, but it does have a man page. Looks like it's more about the python executable (the interpreter) than the language though.

@terdon oh thank you man, I did search online, I was just curious if there is a man page for python :-)

You can also get it from the interactive shell:
help(range)
Will print:
Help on class range in module builtins:

class range(object)
 |  range(stop) -> range object
 |  range(start, stop[, step]) -> range object
 |
 | Return an object that produces a sequence of integers from start (inclusive)
 |  to stop (exclusive) by step.  range(i, j) produces i, i+1, i+2, ..., j-1.
 |  start defaults to 0, and stop is omitted!  range(4) produces 0, 1, 2, 3.
 | These are exactly the valid indices for a list of 4 elements.
 | When step is given, it specifies the increment (or decrement).
and so on

@terdon that's great :-)
@cl-netbox so more tell me about the road you have in Germany that you can drive is fast as you can on. I am a speed freak :-P
@cl-netbox so now tell me about the road you have in Germany that you can drive is fast as you can on. I am a speed freak :-P

2:31 PM
@RonnieDroid when you take the A" highway from Dortmund to Berlin, there are a lot of unlimited speed areas where you can drive as fast as you can ... once I only needed 3 hours for the about 500 km ! :) Depends on the car you have of course ... :D Which odel do you have ?
@RonnieDroid typo : model

@cl-netbox that sounded like porn to me :-P . Mine is a Camry V6 from 2013, but I'll not be taking it with me to Germany obviously

Do you want to stay in Germany for a longer time ? Do you want to buy a new car here ?
Where do you come from ?

@cl-netbox I am moving to Germany, leaving Iraq for good, I'll come to Italy at first, stay there for about a week then move to Germany

@RonnieDroid So you want to stay here forever ?

@cl-netbox I'll not be able to buy a car in the first few months, because I'll spend all my money on the immigration process.
@cl-netbox basically yes, if I like it there. But I'm not going back to Iraq anyway.
Iraq just doesn't suit me, everyone is against me and my ideas here, even my family, so yeah, F Iraq

2:41 PM
@RonnieDroid I wish you all the best luck possible that everything works fine for you and that you will like the country and the people, but I think you will ... Germany is quite a nice place to be. :)
@RonnieDroid understand ... do you already find a (good) job here ?

@cl-netbox thank you
@cl-netbox thank you, I hope so :-)

@RonnieDroid You're welcome ! :) I cross my fingers for you that everything works as expected ! :)

Q: lUbuntu: File manager no longer shows other partitions

TotemI hope I don't end up kicking myself for an obvious answer here, but in lubuntu 17.04(zesty) I cannot find the "other places"(as in the other partitions on my system, like Windows) anywhere in the file manager.. It's perplexing, because the option used to be there in the sidebar(called something ...

@cl-netbox as a begining I'll work with my uncle, he has a big alcohol store (forgot the spelling to that word that is something like lequar lol)

@RonnieDroid great ! that is a good start ! When do you move over ?

2:51 PM
@cl-netbox thank you again :-) , maybe we'll meet one day :-P
@cl-netbox in a week or two I'll start the trip, which will take about a week to get to Italy, so I'll be there around the middle of July :-)

@RonnieDroid I am living about 600 km away from Essen ... but, who knows ... :)

@cl-netbox if I can drive as fast as I can it'll be a pleasure to come and visit you lol

@RonnieDroid when you come here via Italy, just buy or, in case you don't have enough money, "steal" a nice Ferrari and bring it with you to Germany ... then you can test your capabilities as "the coming" F1 champion ! :D

@cl-netbox lol, good idea. I'd prefer a Bugatti though :-P
Maybe I'll be your next Michael (I don't know how to spell his last name :-P)
@cl-netbox see you later buddy, have to go now, tschüss o/

@RonnieDroid nah ... Alfa / Ferrari / Maserati ... that are cars ! not a VW !!! did you know that Volkswagen (VW) bought Bugatti many years ago ? :D
@RonnieDroid Michael Schumacher ... though my all time favorite is Ayrton Senna da Silva ! :)
@RonnieDroid Tschüss ... have fun ... see you :)

3:02 PM
@cl-netbox oh I know, but I still like it, maybe I'll go to UK and steal my all time favorite, Aston Martin :-P .
@cl-netbox thank you, you too :-)

@RonnieDroid Aston Martin cars are cool as well ! :)
@RonnieDroid Thanks ! :)

Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a package in the default apt-get repo that has multiple versions?

Looks like NerdOfLinux was completely banned across the entire network for a year. NerdOfCode can come back after 6 days.

I'm testing upgrading/downgrading packages from a custom repo and I want to compare a problem I'm having to a package on the official repo, but I need one that has at least 2 versions available.

He's on antibiotics at the moment for his scent gland so if it's just an internal infection hopefully that should sort it out.

@ParanoidPanda hopefully everything goes well and he gets back to good health :)

@ParanoidPanda haven't noticed any difference

things are a little grayer and a little flatter. icons changed too

my CSS style makes that null

Helooouu
I have a problem that is solvable by someone who uses Linux as his main OS
I have installed Ubuntu but server edition and then installed Gnome for gui
but after sudo apt full-upgrade i can't get into gui now....it boots up in console and the screen flashes for a while and it stops then i login as a user and try to start gui with startx command but it complains about user permission.....and if I run it with sudo i get into gui
how to fix this
i could get into gui before automatically and now i can't

@RonnieDroid Yeah, it's like that nowadays: or you've got too much work, or too little!
@lewis4u never run the GUI with sudo...
apt purge the gui and its dependencies and install it again, because trying to figure out which file where is owned by root now is going to take longer.

8:32 PM
@NathanOsman thank
you should pull the latest changes

8:57 PM
Things that should never be run as root: GUI applications, Wireshark, and systemd.
(Yes, I realize systemd requires root. Hence, you shouldn't run it at all :D)

>_>

grrr cookies
@NathanOsman so we also need to get SO cookies...
and I think we need to figure out how to get chat cookies too
because I just tried loading a WebView using cookies, and I think I did it correctly, and it doesn't show me as logged in

9:16 PM
@NathanOsman why wireshark?
(other than for being a GUI app as well)

@NathanOsman well, we could just do a WebView login to get the full cookies..
but that's not very elegant

@ByteCommander Lots of people run it as root for some reason.
Even pcap shouldn't be run as root.

@NathanOsman I seem to have a vague recollection of firing up wireshark to try it out and it complaining that I had to run it as root.
Am I making it up?

that's what I thought

user136984
It forces you to run it as root, unless you are in a group of users allowed capture packets without root access.

9:30 PM
@terdon You need to reconfigure the package and add yourself to the wireshark group.

user136984
^ that

I really need help with these cookies
is the auth flow the same as it is in the Go package?

@NathanOsman Don't I also need to have some access to /dev/whateverTheNicIsCalledTheseDays?

Deterministic device names FTW.
(Am I the only one who sees how stupid that looks?)

Yeah, I hate these weird names. I do sort of get the benefit of having the names survive a reinstall though. I just think there must be a better way to do it.
