5:05 PM
@Avery I've got a U2F key.
But that only works on sites that support U2F.

Well, now that I'm done with finals, I'll probably go back to answering and working on my indicators and such. I've tons of tasks waiting on github

to be fair, u2f is way better than the yubikey implementation.

But doesn't work for Windows auth among other things.
Although...
In theory, someone should be able to write an auth driver for Windows that uses it.
That would make for an interesting project.

@NathanOsman github does

I already use it on GitHub.

5:10 PM
@NathanOsman or linux.

I hope my copper and soldering wire arrives this week.

lowers the gaze, because he can't solder like a proper electrical engineering major . . .feck

5:28 PM
I've never used soldering wire in my life before.
There, feel better now? :D
You're in good company.

^_^
Frankly, I do think I'm in really good company. Been loving it ever since I joined AU
2
Speaking of loving stuff, PSY released a new video ( 2 videos actually ) , which is called I LUV IT

5:48 PM
The device art generator for Android doesn't work in Chrome, lol.

heads up, if we are having an election this year, it'll likely be some time next month.
so everyone who wants to run, time to start acting your best.
2

I'll intentionally start acting my worst
Acting my best last time didn't get me elected.
But then again, I wouldn't be a good mod anyway, so that's for the best

6:14 PM
time to leave. good night

Sleep well

aight how do i force gparted to resize partitions regardless of bad fs

6:40 PM
Tried to ask a good question . . . turned out the solution was really obvious . . . now I feel stupid

Q: More than 200 reputation, How this is allowed?

Sumeet Deshmukh As you can see, I didn't receive any bounties but I still got more than 200 reputation? what does that mean It has also happened to me before but I thought that was because I edited a lot of pots but as you can clearly see, I didn't do any of that today

Q: dpkg-deb build ignores/misinterprets a changelog

MaximI'm building a .deb package using: dpkg-deb --build package The directory "package" contains another directory called DEBIAN that has the changelog, but the resulting package doesn't have the changelog.debia.gz in it, and if I check the package using lintian I get following errors: E: msodbcs...

So . . . Kindle Unlimited is 10$ a month . . .that's 120$ a year . . . but i can read some books for free . . . Think it's worth it ?

user136984
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy: Why not just go to a library or bookshop?

@ParanoidPanda takes time to drive and gasoline

user136984
7:22 PM
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy: Online home delivery?

user136984
Or how about you start a bookshop in your house?

user136984
Then you won't need to go anywhere...

@SergiyKolodyazhnyy Are they the kind of books you will actually read?
@KazWolfe if you really want to be a moderator changing how you act just for an election is not likely to get you many followers.

@Seth It was a joke.

Oh.
I'm bad at those. Sorry ;)

7:32 PM
yeah, no, obviously that's just a bad idea all around and won't do anything to help

@Seth well, considering there's plenty of coding books . . . probably, yes ?

@SergiyKolodyazhnyy It's important to realize coding books don't often work well on Kindles
Especially the cheaper, small ones.

Yeah, I know that. Some of those books that I've already purchased can be only viewed on app, and not in the cloud reader
And trying to install it in wine has been failing left and right

Q: su: User not known to the underlying authentication module

user5447339I created a new user in linux by running useradd command: david@machineA:~> sudo useradd golden david@machineA:~> sudo su - golden Creating directory '/home/golden'. $ ^C $ exit su: User not known to the underlying authentication module But when I try to switch to that user, I am seeing an err...

who remembers the Gorilla Glass 5 scandal thing?

7:49 PM
Nope.
What happened?

Same. None.

Yawn . . . I should just go watch TV series or something
I'm lazying this day out

I find YouTube tutorials to be quite helpful. More so than books if the author is exceptional.
Could also be because I am a visual learner.

Yes, YouTube helps quite a lot. I've found quite a few interesting talks and lectures there

I don't learn well from books. I can't follow detailed text descriptions well.

7:56 PM
Really depends for me. Some videos can be like "I really need this material, but author's voice is so damn annoying and they take forever to get to the point they're trying to make. 15 minutes of nonsense"

@Seth @NathanOsman the YouTube channel JerryRigEverything used some Mohs picks on the Note 7 and saw that it scratched at a lower level than GG4

@TheWanderer oh, that's it?

it turned out he'd sharpened the picks, which messed them up, and a restest showed that GG5 is just as scratch resistant
but what's interesting is that Gorrilla Glass was pretty ready to defend the glass being softer, instead of saying it wasn't

huh
did you see his latest video with the HTC U Ultra and the sapphire @TheWanderer

I guess I'm @Zanna now :p

8:02 PM
muscle memory from the Zachary1 days..

yes
I was never Zachary1

whatever it was

:p
you're a mod, can't you see that sort of thing?

hello

yes but I don't just randomly go looking at it

8:06 PM
mhm

how do i force gparted to NOT check ntfs filesystems
...

@craftxbox I don't think you can override that on gparted.

i need to resize a partition tot the end of the drive fbut errors are stopping me from doing it
ntfs

@craftxbox use parted?
I didn't realize the slo-mo guys were British.
Or is that Australian?

A: How to provide a backtrace?

Paranoid PandaA backtrace shows a list of an applications active functions. As functions are nested within each other when they are called the application must record where it left one function to get into another within it. This is done on the stack, we then dump the stack for the backtrace. Preparation ...

user136984
And why am I unable to copy anything in Firefox?

user136984
It seems as though it has just suddenly started to fail in putting anything to the clipboard.

user136984
I will have to restart it...

@Seth It is definitely Stupid.

8:23 PM
@ByteCommander Their accent is stupid? Ok then..

no, jumping into mouse traps is

oh

@ByteCommander not as stupid as diving into a bunch of cactuses with huge spikes . . . There's a video of that somewhere

He said it didn't hurt shrug

8:41 PM

user136984
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy: Really? :D

NTFS is inconsistent. Run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot it TWICE!
The usage of the /f parameter is very IMPORTANT! No modification was
made to NTFS by this software.

Unable to read the contents of this file system!
Because of this some operations may be unavailable.

@SergiyKolodyazhnyy I'm not going to watch this, but he deserves every bit of it just because he's so stupid to do it
my opinion

user136984
9:00 PM
@SergiyKolodyazhnyy Well, if people will do things like that... His screaming sounds a lot like a goat though.

user136984
If you will willingly do things like that then you can't really complain about it afterwards.

user136984
But now I ask myself the question, why did I watch even a little of that???

@TheWanderer don't need a mod ;) chat.stackexchange.com/… chat history gives that info out

9:16 PM
@ByteCommander Well . . . gotta agree with that, but also this is sort of the thing that people do nowadays. If your channel on YouTube gets adsense revenue, people do whole lot of crazy things for that. The more views the more revenue
Welp, just found out that they started doing employee evaluations this semester. /facepalm . . . I'm screwed , lol

user136984
I finally got my Wifi working on this system! Yay! :D

DigitalOcean just bumped me up to 100 concurrent droplets. Awesome.

user136984
I never could get it working on Ubuntu, but seemingly on Arch there is better driver support!

user136984
Anyway, goodnight folks! :)

First python script in a while . . . still remember doing things lol
@ParanoidPanda sleep well, Panda
I think Verilog will be skewing me over for some time now, because while writing that script I kept thinking back to like the always @(*) blocks

9:46 PM
@Mateo IVE BEEN EXPOSED

@TheWanderer i see your HI key was stuck, lol

WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT MORTAL

I AM CONFUSED BY THIS CONVO

@ThomasWard your influence is rubbing off on Zach
@edwinksl basically every convo on AU ever

true

9:51 PM
should i wait 1 hour and go home or actually eat my lunch ?
I'm like . . . don't wanna do anything today

10:27 PM
oh, cool. digitalocean is now offering servers with 224 GB ram.
so, just barely enough to run "hello world" in Java.

Q: How to remove "ubuntu" from boot options even after I deleted?

K Split XI removed linux mint from my system, but still it would always boot to the GRUB thing. Then I followed a bunch of tutorials, and somehow made it so that when selecting "ubuntu", it still boots to windows. That's good, but now I just want to remove the "ubuntu" option so that I only can boot to wi...

@KazWolfe I think you meant a minecraft server, but your hyperbole is appreciated

eh, that's about 1800-2000 players on a single concurrent session.
the internet connection would give up before RAM gets anywhere near full, if we're playing the as-real-as-possible game.

10:48 PM
@RobotHumans I mean, Minecraft is Java

Yes. I wasn't arguing, I was agreeing

Q: Corrupt ext4 file system

KyleI have a RAID 1 (hardware) array, where the system crashed, and I removed the hard drives. It is my understanding that a RAID 1 drive should work as an individual drive, as the RAID data is stored at the end of the drive and will not interfere with use outside of a RAID array. The drive is recog...

11:35 PM
hm. my entire workspace is covered with raspberry pis.
there are at least six in my direct FOV

noice

and at least 15 more in a 30 foot radius.

hi Nathan
@KazWolfe you have too many pies. I would have eaten them by now.

I have a picture to share but it's hard to upload when you're mobile.
:(
I'll fix that one of these days.

11:44 PM
@NathanOsman I keep having an itch to fix that too.
But I don't have the time to learn enough Android right now to deal with that :/

I already started something.
It isn't ready yet though.
It's based on the Go package I made for George to interact with chat.

@NathanOsman are you going to add a hook to the share menu? That's what my plan was.

wait, what?
someone has a mobile app for SE chat?

@KazWolfe it's in the works.
I'll have a proof of concept hopefully by the end of the month.
@Seth this will be a full fledged chat app.
It will let you browse for images and it will resize them and upload to Imgur automatically.

WAIT YOU'RE MAKING AN ACTUAL SECHAT APP????

11:53 PM
And heads-up notifications.

I NEED

@TheWanderer YES
I knew you guys would like it ;)
I'll expect y'all to help test it.

inb4 it breaks safetynet
or becomes in-app-purchase land
or gets takedown'd by google for IP infringement.

@NathanOsman Ah. That wasn't my idea at all.
So I guess we might get both :)
