There's room for competition.
:)

technically it's not competition. I wouldn't be writing a chat app. Just a hook into the generic share menu to send an image directly to SE chat.

so you're saying i need to write a competing app?
gotcha.

Lol.

kk will do.
now... how to make mine better.
besides [redacted], obviously.

Washington and Pittsburgh are playing game 7 (zero-zero in the first) and in a few hours Edmonton and Anaheim play game 7. Such an exciting night :)
@Seth Any easier way of sending images into chat is a great idea!

"Donald Trump" is the new Ni. https://twitter.com/ParkerMolloy/status/862452588750483456

what's a "Ni"?
Ninicompoop?
Not Informed?

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thought that :(

^^^ The holy grenade pineapple thing?

Same movie.

That one was a classic... One of the first blasphemy humour movies... Life of Brian was another.

12:19 AM
Hey, I sorta like Trump.
He's already reached one of the most important goals of his entire presidency -- ensure nobody likes him ever gets elected again.

I promoted him prior to election but was disappointed when he bombed Syria without proof.

@KazWolfe no one said anything against Trump. Not sure how you could say much for him though..

I'm 85% certain Saudi Arabia or CIA was behind chem weps.

I know someone boycotted chat room when we talking about Trump before election.
I think it was.... um Kaz Wolfe? :D

12:22 AM
Badum tsss

Is that a phrase from a movie? "Badum tsss"

@Seth Oh I've seen it spelled different before but thanks for update.
Anyway writing file manager is proving to be quite challenging. Now I'm thinking of multiple profiles for different tags across directories. ie One for backups of everything. One for copying of programming stuff. One for comparing configuration files to new installs, ie diff. Then when in a given directory do instant tags and deletes or copies unrelated to your global tags within current profile.
Plus showing icons for every file type is proving challenging as it's not documented very well.

12:39 AM
Well I'm brilliant. Put my hand into water that had been boiling 5 minutes before...
thankfully I was dumping it into the sink with a stream of cold water so it wasn't too bad. (our sink is this plastic/ceramic mixture that will crack if you poor boiling water directly into it enough times, hence the cold water)

12:57 AM
In Canada our KITCHEN sinks are mostly made out of stainless steel... Kind of like most of our pots.
Coincidence I was gone for 10 minutes as I was boiling eggs.
Bathroom sinks are Porcelain though.
Then again most Canadian home products come from the states... Taylor, American Standard, etc.

1:27 AM
@WinEunuuchs2Unix mine isn't. Have I been cheated?

yes

1:39 AM
@NathanOsman Okay, time to get back to working on my app :)
Hopefully I can fix the color picker being null
@TheWanderer Although the Win8+ app version is C++

@NathanOsman No you Vancouverittes are as up-scale as the @Seth Washingtonstateittes :)
So to summarize... here in Ask Ubuntu room we don't talk about Ubuntu but we talk extensively about everything else including Android and the Kitchen Sink :)
It looks like Washington (capital not state) is going to loose this hockey game sigh

@NathanOsman Aha, I got it :)

2:07 AM
Pittsburgh beat Washington 2-0. Time to formulate Plan B.
I wonder if @ThomasWard is happy ^^^

>:)
@WinEunuuchs2Unix So long Washington.
Good riddance.

Haha political?

I wanted Pittsburgh to win.

So did my boss at work... He's got 5 bucks invested in them.
Oh well time to watch Edmonton - Anaheim game on channel 911.

Android Restaurant.
:P

2:17 AM
we should open an ART gallery next door :P

2:31 AM
@Seth As in the Android Run Time?
As opposed to Dalvik?

I wonder if the whole Linux world is embracing Android or if this room is an anomaly.
Stack Overflow doesn't have a chat room that I can see. Unix & Linux chat rooms are empty. Weird.
Perhaps serious Linux people are in Reddit or Redhat?

@WinEunuuchs2Unix there's a room on Stack Overflow for Android.
But access is limited.

3:07 AM
@NathanOsman Nathan buddy... I was looking for Linux chat rooms on Linux websites.

:)
Should I change my profile photo?
I think my eyes were a bit too wide open in that one.

That's a nice picture, although I like your current profile pic too :)
@NathanOsman Now, here's a question for you: why does the Nougat emulator have constant disk activity on the host, but the KK and JB emulators don't?

@AndroidDev I don't know. I've never noticed that.

3:28 AM
Hi @RPiAwesomeness :) How are you doing?
@NathanOsman shrug Oh well. So do you think that integrating JPEG support into my app is essential? Because embedding data in JPEGs is insanely hard, compared to PNGs... I'd probably just have to use an existing library like F5; no way I'm writing that from scratch :)

@WinEunuuchs2Unix Stack Overflow has tons of chatrooms, including an Android one
@NathanOsman it's a nice picture, but I feel like your face is too shadowed.

You couldn't embed the data in the image itself, you would have to modify the block coefficients.
It would indeed be tricky.
@Seth hmmm... I'll have to try again.
Heading back to Vancouver by boat:

oh that reminds me. I might be in Ladysmith for a day sometime in July. Not close to you but :P
@NathanOsman a little grainy but it looks nice!

Took it through the boat window with low light.

ah, the window explains it.

3:39 AM
Not ideal but you get the idea.

No deck space on your ferries?

It's a SeaBus.
The SeaBus is a passenger-only ferry service in Metro Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It crosses Burrard Inlet to connect the cities of Vancouver and North Vancouver. Owned by TransLink and operated by the Coast Mountain Bus Company, the SeaBus forms an important part of the region's integrated public transportation system. == Service == The SeaBus fleet currently consists of four vessels. The ferries operate between approximately 6:00 am and 1:00 am from Monday to Saturday, and between 8:00 am and 11:30 pm on Sundays and holidays. During the daytime from Monday to Saturday two of the three...

Oh. Neat.

Just a little boat.

@SergiyKolodyazhnyy so you know Phillip DeFranco is trying to start a news network. Very interesting.

I am confused here. The answer in the target post does answer this question but it covers more ground.. Ubuntu 16.10 and Adobe AIR installation - Przem.K.‎ - 2016-11-02 21:34:34Z

@jokerdino Does it? I only glanced at it but it does seem to be answering the question "How do I install adobe Air". What am I missing?

Target is about installing scratch, which happens to include the part about installing AIR.
Is that duplicate when the question is slightly different?

11:44 AM
@jokerdino Is it different though? I don't really know what either air or scratch are, but the first sentence of the target is:
> I need to install Adobe Air on Ubuntu 16.10/17.04 with offline Scratch 2.
So that does seem to be about Air. At least as much as about Scratch.

I think Scratch is one of those Adobe AIR applications.
And Adobe AIR is that thing that lets you run cross platform application.
Write once and run everywhere kinda thing.

I'd close as a dupe. The question seems close enough, the answer is actually given in the dupe's answers and the question is quite old now. I think duping would help more people find the solution.

Yeah.

@Rinzwind eww, who would want Li-Po?

I am in a terminal session. How can i manually save the session commands to bashrc_history

@saviour123 Why manually? They've already been saved there.
But history -a
And then, to read them from another (already open session): history -r

@terdon working remote and with broken pipe, the server does not save the commands. Thanks much.

@saviour123 It doesn't save them until you exit the shell, it should save them when you do. Otherwise the entire history functionality is broken anyway.

Q: Trying to run a Windows98/ME/2000/XP game through Wine

inkdragonI have been trying to install a game called "Tortuga, Pirates of the New World'. If something doesn't work in WINE it probably doesn't work in WINE. Probably not much we can do. Especially with a bronze rating.

@Seth naah. when bronze it is garbage. they are better off asking on winehq

@Seth I say there is no reason to reopen that question as it will not move any further than it already is.

@NathanOsman eww, jellybean is so old :(

But for testing, I have to use it.

Is it really wise to support anything lower than 5.0?

Sure, why not?
Kit Kat still makes up 18% of devices in use.

It's just so outdated.

@NathanOsman see that's just sad. Most decent phones from 2013 have at least 5.0 now.

I know.
But the market is the market.

To be stuck on Jellybean your phone must be from at least 2011..
@NathanOsman I guess it just bothers me that people use their smartphones like computers but won't treat them like computers.
