I have noticed that when you mark a question as 'off-topic' the only choice is to send it to the meta site......why not include the UNIX SE site as well? Therefore, my "feature-request" which is not really a feature but something already in the SE architecture just not configured.

I had Win 7 in C:\ and other data in F:\ G:\ H:\ partitions. Installed Ubuntu 12.10 with option Erase win7 and install Ubuntu and checked LVM option. After installing Ubuntu I'm not able to see F:\ G:\ H:\ partitions. Does this mean I lost all data on F:\ G:\ H:\ or is there any way to recover?

I am used to someone who ask "are you sure? [OK] [RETRY] [CANCEL]" before they do such things.

My mother in law once said "yes" on such a question... not a good idea this was.

I could swear is says something like this:

yeah most of my female friends know that if they ask "do you think..." and I reply wth "are you sure you want to hear my opinion?" that immediatly saying "yes" might backfire ;)

And you don't even have yes no with no being the first and default selection on your shirt

I once knew a dude that insisted on the left button being the most times chosen answer so... the yes and the no tended to switch places across the software.

I don't care about left to right orientation, although leftmost being the default selection (not necessarily most popular) sort of makes sense. Ok left cancel right also makes sense (since it's sort of universal)

nope. buttons should not be called "ok" but should be contexual. So "save" if pressing it saves something.

Could be the answer to felt like 1000 questions here.

I don't know why we keep changing the comments over and over.

it's like if you use a comment more than X times, then fine, it should be in there.

we're having 3 different discussions.

so there are three problems:

1. we need to have a way of knowing if we're going to break things (parse errors)

2. we need to have a better way of verifying that a given comment should get in there.

Doing 1. is fine

3. we also need to make sure we don't overload the thing with too many comments.

They're supposed to be for FAQs, things we do over and over, not every possible combination of comment one can ever post

Just test your fork before you submit a PR. That's what I do (now).

As you can see, they have something setup with Travis that checks pull requests as they come in.

I have a server process that should runs multiple threads at close to 100%, each on its own CPU. When I run the process on a RHEL box, the CPUs in question appear to stay pegged at 100%, according to top. However, when I run my process on an Ubuntu 12.04 box, the CPUs are only at 100% around a ...

and it is not executing the option
so question is should it not be:
ls -color=auto
instead of
ls .auto=color

This smells like a problem with your aliases. You probably have something like alias ls="ls -h .color=auto" This is what I have: alias ls='ls --color=auto' After changing you need to reload the desktop!
