@mojo706 Basically, you install the system, update the software, add software, perform certain configurations and when you're ready you tell the system to remove the temporary oem user. Upon next boot it will present the user with a mask to configure the system for his needs.
I did that because I'm selling it with Ubuntu pre-installed.

I'm using xrandr to rescale the resolution on a netbook (Ubuntu 12.10). When I run the following command it works fine:
xrandr --output LVDS1 --mode 1024x600 --panning 1280x720 --scale 1.25x1.2
However when I put that command into .xprofile to load it at startup the screen has a black border ...
got a couple of minutes of free time. for the rest: very busy with work since we took over the software of a company that went belly up and we decided to recreate it all but webbased.
oh :D well... can't claim I had anything to do with that >:D
even works in chinese :D :D (since 1 of our normal clients(we got separate software for none-webbased clients that use our webbased finance tool) has a branche there)
(we created translation tables so told the client: here are the text segments in dutch and english. here you need to insert the chinese ones. Tell us when it is done :D :D
well @OctavianDamiean if you ever did something in your house that involved attaching metal pipes or tubes you probably bought something from them. They own 75% of the world market in patents regarding fixings for heating systems, sanitary installations, electrical installations, sprinkler pipes, air ducts, cooling systems, solar panels etc
I have been there a couple of times and they have a safe in the middle of the work place. Well safe aint the right word. More a box with 1 meter thick hardend steel walls. :D They store the ceramic molds there. Some of them are worth 1/2 a million (and do not look like it ;) )
if someone drops one of those they are instantly fired :X
Hey @EliahKagan, I love some of your pro forma comments. Especially this one.
> Welcome to Ask Ubuntu! Just like a post that says Ubuntu is great but doesn't try to answer the question isn't a real answer, neither is this. Please only use the Post answer button for actual answers. Occasionally, "you can't do it with Ubuntu, use something else, here's why" answers are valid. But this does not seem like an attempt to give actual, practical advice, so I am deleting it.
Your RAM is detected correctly. MB (megabyte) and MiB (mebibyte) are two different units.
1 MB is 1000 KB which is 1000 byte (decimal)
1 MiB is 1024 KiB which is 1024 byte (binary)
If you check the math yourself you will see that 512 MB are 495 MiB ;-)

@jokerdino Thanks! I'm glad you've found it useful. And I see that's the modified moderator version. :) (As mine ends actual, practical advice, so it will probably be [deleted soon](http://$SITEURL$/faq#deletion).)
@StephenMyall so maybe tweak it a bit, that would be awesome... we will see, I have seen more upset people get to a good solution, so not all hope is lost (also seen people explode on edits too...)
@mateo_salta "The Touch Developer Preview project provides the open source code for enthusiasts and developers, to familiarise themselves with Ubuntu's phone and tablet experience"
from the wiki
It's the same technology for both phones and tablets
@jokerdino I would try it on an external if it weren't for this all the "caution" bug might corrupt firmware messages help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFIBooting looks like they are fixed, and don't have another 2,000 dollars, and this zdnet.com/blog/hardware/… so no more 17inch!
I installed Ubuntu Touch today on my Nexus 7 (grouper nakasi) and I appear to be logged in as somebody else - a developer perhaps. I have their Facebook notifications, music they like, people they know, missed calls, etc. Seems a little weird. Is this not ready to be personalized yet? I can't fin...
