@RolandiXor doesn't work in the fiddle either :/
that's kinda a good thing though

I'm still confused as to what exactly you're trying to achieve.

we were talking about using shrug

jrg
shrug

and several people told me to make a button that would add it for you

jrg
he wants to make a button, that will enter in shrug and then send it.

11:14 PM
so I did. And it kinda works.
not send it.
thats an extra feature that we will add in time.

jrg
oh. if you made it to send, it'd be pretty simple.

yes it would

"kinda" sounds like "something doesn't work as it should"

we haven't gotten there yet.

jrg
shrug

11:15 PM
@FEichinger check the fiddle.

I see nothing wrong with it.

jrg
shrug

have to tried it?

Oli
Have SE been messing around with the chat permission systems? I'm fairly sure I'm logged in but I can't get into rooms where I should be able to get into

it only send shrug once

jrg
11:17 PM
@Oli hangon.
yeah, let me fix that for you @Oli

@Oli had time to work on the site yet?
(your site)

jrg
somehow you got your master user set to raspi instead of AU, so you can't access anything useful. ;P
@Oli: Refresh and try again.

whoa you can change my master account?

jrg
puts on shades Name it (if it's not destructive) and we can do it.
@iSeth well, technically, so can you.

Only my own...

jrg
11:19 PM
yes. only your own.

shrug

Oli
@jrg Yeah - I've tried changing it too but nothing useful happens. You're welcome to try changing it to Ask Ubuntu also. Very odd.

jrg
@Oli i changed it, you show up in the other room.

I don't see him

Oli
Oh hooray, I can get into the teachers lounge too

jrg
11:21 PM
you show up blue here as well. i'm so confused.

hey, @Oli you aren't blue

jrg
@iSeth refresh.

just James.
ah there we go.
weird.

Oli
I wonder what's spawned all that silliness. Another mod dicking around? Who knows.

@iSeth Got it.

jrg
11:24 PM
unfortunately we don't have a user history tool for chat... :(

Oli
@iSeth No, haven't had any time to do much with it recently. I haven't had much time for anything recently.

@jrg try the wildcard in the search box...just an idea.
@Oli OK that's fine.

jrg
0 messages found.

go figure.

jrg
@Oli ok, so i'm not a python guy, but is this on bitbucket, github, launchpad etc by any chance?
because then we can try to dig into it and fix things...

Oli
11:27 PM
@jrg It's on a private bitbucket as of last week but it needs a fair amount of cleaning before it's anywhere near release worthy.

jrg
ok, fair enough.

Oli
But that is a goal, it just needs some time.

I think I've commented/flagged every post in Marco's abandoned questions that was posted in April or before... Can I start May now since its January?
@FEichinger Wow! let me look at it.
so the only difference is input.value + shrug
instead of just shrug...
slams head on keyboard

1. <textarea id="input"></textarea>, **no** characters inbetween for such a thing. Ever. EEEVER.
2. Get the `input` element into a variable, don't look for it every time.
3. Don't use `input.innerHTML`, use `input.value`.

11:30 PM
I tried making input an object but that didn't change anything so I went back

And, well, the input.value + shrug prevents overwriting the entire input. Else it would replace everything.

that wasn't what was happening though... weird.

Oh, nah, what happened was that you overwrote the innerHTML - which is not the same as the value.

If I deleted all the text in input it still did nothing as you can see for yourself.

jrg
@iSeth you're more than welcome to start on this

11:31 PM
@FEichinger ah, OK.

Once value is written to, innerHTML doesn't show up anymore.

@jrg Okay.

Also: value is sent, innerHTML is - usually - not.

@FEichinger never knew that... nobody else could figure it out...
@jrg so no May until next month?

jrg
@iSeth you're just so eager, aren't you? :P

11:33 PM
@iSeth I couldn't nail it down immediately either. Struck me when I saw what happened when I changed anything about the input value.

@jrg yup.

jrg
hold off on May for another week or two, lets get a data dump and see what we missed.

@jrg Will do.

jrg
oh, nevermind. datadump was on the 30th. which query were you using again?

@FEichinger you still get the fame for fixing it ;)
@jrg this one.

jrg
11:36 PM
@iSeth looks like there are still some from april.

A: Gnome-Shell 3.4 Themes not working in 12.04?

vanlong441Here is the right way to get gnome-tweak-tool (advanced settings) to work therefore shell themes and extensions to work WITHOUT breaking your gnome shell sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ricotz/testing sudo apt-get install ppa-purge sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install gnome-shell-extensions sudo...

or rather, just one.
and there isn't anything from April.

fixed that.

jrg
And now it looks like there is nothing from May either.
so we're looking at june.

@jrg oh ok. when can I start?

jrg
that's weird.
they use a different unicode thingy for -

makes sense

jrg
11:38 PM
@iSeth ignore me. there is lots of may stuff, i just couldn't find it in search because of their... unusual setup.

ok then. when can I start?

jrg
now if you want. i'd prefer the duplicates get cleaned out, but that's just personal preference.

@jrg A fix for SQL comments, perhaps?

@jrg I'll do both.

Q: Synchronize software packages between different Linux distributions

Anderson GreenIs there any way to synchronize software packages between different Linux distributions? There are several software packages that I need to synchronize between a Linux Mint installation and an Ubuntu installation. Ubuntu already provides a software synchronization service, but it would be even be...
